What does the MLOps pipeline at London Based FinTech startup TrueLayer look like? London Based Fintech start-up TrueLayer decided to use Machine Learning instead of a rule-based system in mid-2019 and in our 7th meetup we spoke to their lead data scientist Alex Spanos about everything that entailed. During the meetup, we dove into how TrueLayer architected their MLOps pipeline for their Open Banking API: more specifically which tools they use and why, what prompted them to use machine learning, and how Alex sees the role of a Machine Learning Engineer. Alex has led the hiring process of Machine Learning Engineers and shared learnings on candidates and businesses alike. Alex is the Lead Data Scientist at TrueLayer, focussing on building Open Banking API products powered by data. Prior to TrueLayer, he built predictive models in Financial Services, used social data to predict the “next-big-thing” in Fast Moving Consumer Goods and introduced Machine Learning techniques in subsurface imaging.

Alex Spanos passed away at age of 95. With his passing a rumor has popped up again that he gained his money in the beginning of his life by providing prostitutes to migrant field workers in Stockton in the 50's.

PodVader sits down with Arthur Arkush of ProFootballWeekly.com and they discuss a myriad of NFL topics.First, congrats to John Sahly who not only tied Pod in the BlogTalkRadio Fantasy Expert League but also has a new baby at home. From there, Arthur and Pod discuss the possible move of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas and how that is tied into other potential movement in the league, aka San Diego Chargers. Chargers owner, Alex Spanos, seems keen on keeping the team in San Diego, but it's not looking like they'll get the votes to go their way come election day for public funding. All this movement in the NFL is tied together with the dropping TV ratings, as well as the job Commissioner Roger Goodell is doing. The NFL doesn't seem to have their priorities straight when dealing with things like domestic violence vs on the field celebrations. Are the owners unhappy though? Arthur quotes a Puff Daddy song in response. And doesn't it seem like there aren't any real clear cut candidates for MVP? Minnesota has done a great job this season thanks to their defense, but who can be singled out? Matt Ryan is a top QB statisically, but is that thanks to his running backs (not to mention, not looking so good record-wise). And Tom Brady brings a whole new level to New England, but the Patriots got the job done without him. Could a player win Rookie of the Year and MVP, Ezekial Elliott? Then PodVader talks with Ryan, the Jacksonville SuperFan, about the struggles the Jaguars have had this early part of the season. How about that Thursday Night game tomorrow vs the Tennessee Titans?
