In his weekly take on political developments, United Independent Movement (UIM) President Neil de Beer slams the “cabal of people now cohorting into a public political party (MK) in Parliament”. He describes Jacob Zuma, Brian Molefe, Andile Mngxitama, Siyabonga Gama, Floyd Shivambu, Dr. John Hlope, Lucky Montana, and Mzwanele Manyi as among “the most unscrupulous accused people that harm this country on all levels of State Capture, SOE collapse, and debatably the country's collapse”. “That's your 10 Most Wanted poster right there.” As for the defection of Shivambu to MK from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), De Beer says: “This was orchestrated, is orchestrated and planned.” Describing the battle to prosecute those fingered by the Zondo Commission, he points out: “We spent billions on the Zondo Commission, three years, more than 16 volumes and…some of them are sitting in MK.” De Beer also dissects the latest coalition dramas between the Democratic Alliance (DA) and other parties in metros and municipalities. He further gives his take on what Elon Musk might have gained from his X interview with former US President Donald Trump. And he analyses the bold moves to self-sufficiency by Burkina Faso President Ibrahim Traoré who has turned down help from both the West and the East.

A petition launched by Concerned Citizens has garnered nearly ten thousand signatures, calling for the removal of newly sworn-in MP Andile Mngxitama from Parliament. The petition accuses Mngxitama, a member of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, of perpetuating hate speech and urges the South African Human Rights Commission to take legal action against him. This comes after a video taken five years ago at a BLF event went viral showing Mngxitama making threatening statements. Elvis Presslin spoke to Andile Mngxitama himself to discuss these allegations and the growing calls for his removal from Parliament and AfriForum CEO, Kallie Kriel on their support of the petition...
It seems the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party's left-hand doesn't know what its right hand is doing. That much was evident when one party spokesperson told News24 that convicted fraudster Schabir Shaik was a member of the party, and another shot down claims of Shaik's affiliation with it. Shaik's appearance alongside former president Jacob Zuma at a fundraising event for Gaza on Saturday sparked speculation that he supports the party Zuma is aiming to lead. But, asked on Tuesday whether Shaik had joined the MK Party, spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela said, "No [Schabir] Shaik did not join MK Party, and neither was the event about the MK Party. The event was about reflecting on the atrocities that are taking place in Palestine." However, in response to the same question, another party spokesperson, Sidwell Masilela, said, "He is. He had MK banners in the event and recruit[ed] more of the Indian community." Shaik, who was found to have a corrupt relationship with Zuma, was jailed but was later released on medical parole. The confusion over his relationship with the MK Party comes after Black First Land First leader Andile Mngxitama and National People's Ambassadors (NPA) leader Nathi Mthethwa said they had joined the MK Party. On Tuesday evening, Mngxitama posted a picture of himself and Zuma on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: "It's done! BLF vote #MK full statement to follow." The statement wasn't released. But Mngxitama told News24: "BLF is not ceasing to exist. What we agreed upon with president Zuma is an electoral pact where BLF votes for MK. Naturally, BLF shall join MK. It's a dual membership process." Meanwhile, Mthethwa told News24: "Yes, I have joined to campaign with MK, since the NPA (a small party based in KwaZulu-Natal) is not going to take part in the national elections." Asked about Mngxitama and Mthethwa, Masilela said: "Andile and Nathi... nothing confirmed yet." Ndlela said: "[Former] president Jacob Zuma has been, and continues, to engage in discussions with progressive parties with the aim of forming a united front. There are no other political party leaders that have joined MK Party." He said the party would announce the consolidated membership at its launch next month. While Zuma continues to criss-cross the country to campaign for the MK Party, the ANC has chosen to not give any attention to the actions of its former president. On Saturday at Mbombela Stadium, where the ANC held its 112th anniversary celebration, party chairperson Gwede Mantashe told News24 the ANC was not preoccupied with what other people were doing and was focused on its own programmes. However, giving a message of support at the celebrations, SACP general-secretary Solly Mapaila asked the party to deal with the Zuma matter and not "dilly-dally" around it. When greeting those in attendance, including the uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans, party president Cyril Ramaphosa appeared to take a dig at the MK Party when he said: "This is the real MK." On Saturday, Zuma will lead the MK Party's campaign in Limpopo.

Black First Land First, BLF is expected to hand over an affidavit to the Hillbrow Police Station in Johannesburg, which the party says proves that President Cyril Ramaphosa should be charged criminally for corruption. The party says Ramaphosa is compromised as he was allegedly involved in criminality for contravening Sections 34 of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act of 2004. This stems from leaked audio which purports to be of Ramaphosa admitting to using state funds for the African National Congress' operations. Here is BLF president, Andile Mngxitama
[Note: Program originally aired in August 2016] In a speech delivered in 1971 in Cape Town, South Africa, Steve Bantu Biko proclaimed that the: “The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.” This time-less expression is currently fueling grassroots organizing and resistance efforts in South Africa. We see the echoes of this axiom in movements across South Africa from the Rhodes Must Fall/Fees Must Fall uprisings to the organizational expressions of resistance through organizations such as Black First, Land First or Abahlali baseMjondolo [Shack Dwellers Movement] and Landless People's Movement; and outside of SA, with the Homeless Workers' Movement [Brazil]. Before we begin our conversation with Andile Mngxitama, it is important to hear and think with Steve Biko. One of the Africana world's foremost activist---thinkers, Steve Biko is mostly remembered through the work and ideas of the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM). Although Steve Biko was not alone in forging the Black Consciousness Movement; he was nevertheless its most prominent leader, who with others guided the movement of student discontent into a political force unprecedented in the history of South Africa. As a consequence of his potent political mind and activity, he is inextricably linked the development and evolution of the Black Consciousness Movement, which spread across the African world, finding it's lasting expression in Afro Brazilian communities. To understand more about the life and contributions of Steve Biko, there is no other place to start than to read him, you can start by reading and thinking through I Write What I Like…but for now, we can listen to him #ThinkingBlackOutLoud. After thinking with Bantu Biko, we explore movement building in a ‘post' Apartheid SA, with Andile Mngxitama, a leading black consciousness thinker and organizer. He co-edited Biko Lives! Contesting the Legacies of Steve Biko, has published four essays in the New Frank Talk journals. He is frequent contributor to various multimedia outlets that explore Africa in general, South Africa specifically. History is littered with cults that use political ideals as their base. Classic examples of this type of cult are Hitler's Nazi Germany and Stalin's Communist USSR. This was mind control on a large scale. On a smaller scale, white and black supremacists, terrorists, and rebel groups commonly use forms of mind control to recruit and dominate members. Under this type of cult we include examples such as The Michigan Militia, Posse Comitatus, The Nation of Islam and The Ku Klux Klan. And dare I include South Africa's very own AWB (Afrikaner Weerstand Beweeging). There has been an increase in the politics of personalities and the formation of cults around political leaders. Smaller parties, four of them new, and the EFF have presented the electorate with prominent leadership figures and will hang the immediate future of their parties on these personalities. For the ruling ANC, too, the election has become a lot more about Cyril Ramaphosa than it is about the party. In fairness, the ANC is less of a cult, than say, the EFF, Hlaudi Motsoeneng's African Content Movement, or Andile Mngxitama and the Black First Land First Movement (BLF). However, the EFF has become a classic example of how cults rise out of the personality of one charismatic leader. A leader who can do no wrong in the eyes of the rank and file and who's followers will say and do anything to defend their leader. Even when they are confronted with the hypocrisy and outright lies of that particular leader.

CliffCentral.com — State Capture has dominated the South African socio-political landscape recently, culminating in an explosive report by the Public Protector outlining various cases of politicians being compromised by wealthy businesspeople. In this explosive show Andrew and Rori speak to Jan Bosman of the Afrikanerbond and political analyst Ralph Mathekga, to find out whether the Stellenbosch Mafia really exist and what their impact on the South African socio-political and economic landscape is.
