Ryan Gosling plays the Fall Guy in the big screen movie. Any of our fears about this ruining a beloved TV tale about stunts and jump trucks were wrong! The movie is great and while it might be a one and done it could certainly feature sequels too! Gosling plays the Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man that ends up having to solve a mystery, while jumping trucks and doing stunts. Sound familiar? Colt ends up being nearly killed during the opening movie-within-a-movie stunt (that Gosling really did) due to sabotage by the jealous star that he's doubling. It breaks his confidence and takes him away from the career (and woman) that he loves. But, when Jody the camera girl becomes Jody the director of the biggest baddest stunt movie ever to be made….he comes out of retirement to get it done. And save the relationship. And solve the mystery of the leading man that was dead…..or was he? In it are thrown in intentional meta references, sound effects and songs that will make your hears sing, aliens that make you laugh, all leading to the good guy winning in the end with the help of the girl….and a brown and gold GMC truck. President Donald Trump insisted his administration is “putting a lot of pressure” on Russia to reach a peace deal with Ukraine, after an overnight rocket attack on Kyiv killed 12 people. In a post on Truth Social earlier, the US President wrote “Vladimir, STOP!” and called the attack “bad timing”. But differences between the US and Ukrainian positions continue, particularly over the future of the Crimean peninsula. The National Autistic Society rounded on Reform UK party leader Nigel Farage after he said doctors were “massively over-diagnosing those with mental illness problems”. We ask what's behind the spike in diagnosis of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).And as the Liberal Democrats propose fining people for playing music out loud on their phone aboard public transport, we ask how the issue should be dealt with.
Episode 19 touches on the bizarre reasons why the City of Winnipeg isn't advertising a Public Works Committee event, more federal election campaign news and views, and more evidence Elections Canada is trying to deceive the public that their "preventative measures" stop non-citizens from getting a ballot and voting.Part 1- Late on Wednesday, a City of Winnipeg representative emailed Marty Gold about his Sun column, Public Works presentation on Bike Lanes, Lower Speed Limits Kept Hush-Hush.The column revealed that while the Saturday morning event is framed as a “robust presentation” about the $96 Million councillors intend to spend on “Active Transportation and Road Safety in the next 6 years,” the people running the show seem to only want to hear from supporters and beneficiaries of their plans. Case in point- Committee Chair Janice Lukes specifically invited the bike lobby, but not WiseUP Winnipeg that represents 14,000 drivers. As Todd Dube suggested, that's one way politicians can use tax dollars to set up a robust echo chamber."It is not a Public Service-led event, and we do not promote information sessions organized and led by an elected official," explained the email. If you think that doesn't make sense, wait till you hear the rest of the explanation of how "there is no component of public engagement or feedback-seeking at this event" and how Marty responded. 20.15 Part 2 starts off with some reaction to Sun columns. Hear comments on the Public Works info session, the injection site Town Hall held by Point Douglas residents, and the passing of Con Lynch, a venerated North Kildonan teacher with a deep connection to Marty's family.27.15 - Listeners and readers contribute tips and observations about the state of the federal campaign. Prospects for the NDP are looking bleak while the Conservatives are finally allowing local candidates to speak for themselves. Meanwhile, the Jew-haters have made their presence felt in Tuxedo, targeting Jewish Tory incumbent Marty Morantz. 34.10 Part 3 - A recent correspondence from Elections Canada revealed how the agency tries to fool Canadians into believing their lax ID practices don't open the door to non-citizens being handed a ballot. Listen to the Elections Canada memo sent to encourage tax preparers to add clients to the voting list. You'll wonder if the agency is only interested in padding voter rolls and not in protecting our democracy. We will continue to stand up for you.****The TGCTS podcasts and reports on ActionLine.ca and our columns and community reports with the Winnipeg Sun, are made possible because of the support of listeners and readers like you. In today's Daily Fix:In an ongoing lawsuit regarding Ubisoft's shutdown of the online racing game, The Crew, Ubisoft is insisting that customers don't own the games they buy, instead they're purchasing a license to play those games. Ubisoft claims that legal print in the The Crew, as well as on the packaging of physical copies, clearly state that Ubisoft can shutdown the game with 30 days' notice. This could have larger ramifications in the games industry, considering how many live-service games are already popular. In other news, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild will cost gamers a pretty penny if they're buying the Switch 2 enhanded editions from scratch. If you don't already own a Switch 1 copy of Breath of the Wild, a new Switch 2 version will cost a full $70, and DLC is not included (which is an extra $20). Current owners can upgrade for $10, and members of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack get it for free. And finally, kids are going absolutely ballistic for A Minecraft Movie.

Asian and European markets are nosediving for a third straight day as Donald Trump doubles down on tariffs. Weighing further on investors, China is the first to pull the trigger on reciprocal tariffs. For the Europeans, is it best to wait and let the markets temper Trump's zeal for trade barriers? Or does retribution require nerves of steel? Last week, France and Germany called on the European Union to hit the US where it hurts: its tech sector. But just as the Covid pandemic made Europe realise how overdependent it is on Chinese manufactured goods and medicines, is the Old Continent just now waking up to the reality that in an increasingly demonetised world, the US controls both the software and the financing of our daily transactions? Produced by Rebecca Gnignati, Ilayda Habip and Oihana Almandoz.
AP Washington correspondent Sagar Meghani reports on the U.S. holding direct talks with Iran over its nuclear program.
Brian Belski of BMO Capital Markets joins Chad to talk about Trump's tariffs leading to huge losses in the stock market and why he believes it's still not time to panic about our economy.
In today's Daily Fix:The Nintendo Switch 2 has been the talk of the gaming world ever since last week's Nintendo Direct deep dive into the system and its launch line-up. Unfortunately it hasn't all been glowing praise, with many criticizing Nintendo's decison to make Mario Kart World—the Switch 2's headlining launch title—a whopping $80 for the game itself. In an exclusive interview with IGN, Nintendo's Bill Trinen has explained why they think the game is worth the hefty price tag. In related news, it's been revealed that another Switch 2 launch title, Welcome Tour, will cost $10, which doesn't sound so bad at first, but many gamers think the game should have been a pack-in title with the system itself. And finally, in gaming-adjecent news, A Minecraft Movie has already broken box office records by having the biggest domestic opening weekend of any animated movie ever.
President Trump reaffirmed his commitment to tariffs on imports unless other countries improve trade practices with the United States. He does not intend to withdraw tariffs despite market fluctuations and considers them necessary to address trade imbalances. Increased tariffs are scheduled to take effect Wednesday, raising uncertainty in the global economy. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated that resolving trade issues will require lengthy negotiations. While Trump played golf, he communicated resilience and support for his trade policies, with administration officials downplaying recession concerns. Following the April 2 tariff announcement, stock futures fell significantly, heightening investor anxiety. Countries like China and allies such as Israel and Vietnam are responding to the tariffs, with plans for negotiations. In Congress, several Republican senators have proposed legislation requiring Congressional approval for new tariffs, signaling potential shifts in legislative focus. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed the tariffs will proceed as planned but did not specify their duration. Discussions continue in Congress regarding the impact of tariffs on the economy. Civilians continue to bear the brunt of violent clashes between rival forces in Sudan, UN human rights chief Volker Türk said on Thursday, after “credible” videos surfaced of killings in cold blood, linked to the recapture of Khartoum by the Sudanese Armed Forces.“There is likely an ethnic element” to the killings too, said Seif Magango, spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).He told UN News' Daniel Johnson that sexual violence remains widespread in the war-torn country, before calling for UN Member States to intervene to stop almost two years of heavy fighting that has uprooted nine million people across Sudan and left an estimated 24.6 million facing acute hunger.Specific measures that could bring the rival forces to the negotiating table include an extended arms embargo for Sudan that encompasses the whole country and not just Darfur, and a wider mandate for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to cover all of Sudan, he said.

An environmental scientist involved in a judicial review against the proposed Ennis Data Centre insists the facility is no closer to coming to fruition despite a recent high court judgement. Last week, Justice Richard Humphreys ruled that An Bord Pleanála's error not to consider a single bat in a barn near the the proposed Tulla Road Campus should not stop the €1.2bn development. This is only the first phase of the judicial review, next the court must decide if planners followed due legal process when assessing environmental impacts, after that it will be referred back to An Bord Pleanála for a new planning decision. Ennis resident and appellant Colin Doyle has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan that he believes the plans are ludicrous.
The Minister for Health says regardless of the findings of the upcoming HIQA review, the focus should be on expanding the emergency care capacity of the Midwest region. The findings of a review into urgent and emergency care in the Midwest which will examine the case for a second emergency department are due to be presented to the Health Minister in May of this year. Following the publication of the review's interim report, Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has confirmed she expects the final review to be completed on schedule. Speaking to Clare FM during a visit to University Hospital Limerick, the Fine Gael Minister says the "throughput" seen in facilities across the country must be on display at UHL.
I met my ex-boyfriend when I already had a child. After we had a second child together, he suddenly started insisting that my firstborn is his, not the second. Then, he left home and refused to take care of me or his own child. What baffles me is why he's denying his biological child while claiming the wrong one, especially when he knows who my first child's father is. Unless there's something he knows that I don't, because I'm completely confused. - Woman shares

A Clare farming representative insists common sense must prevail when it comes to landowners being allowed to cut trees near power lines. Thousands of homes and businesses remain without electricity this morning as ESB crews continue their efforts to restore power to those still experiencing outages following Storm Éowyn. A major cause of electricity outages in rural Clare has been trees falling on overhead power lines. O'Callaghan's Mills farmer and Secretary of the Clare branch of the Irish Creamery and Milk Suppliers Association Martin McMahon says too many trees are located near power lines and farmers should be allowed to cut them down.
