On this edition of My World, Jeff Jarrett and Conrad Thompson break down all the biggest news and notes from an action-packed weekend in professional wrestling before welcoming one of TNA's original homegrown stars to the show, "Wildcat" Chris Harris! Chris joins the guys for an honest and nostalgic look back at the birth of America's Most Wanted, revealing how he and James Storm developed the chemistry that made them one of the greatest tag teams in TNA history. From drawing inspiration from legendary duos like the Midnight Express, Rock 'n' Roll Express, and Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard, to becoming the cornerstone of TNA's tag team division, Harris shares stories you've never heard before. Jeff and Chris also revisit the unforgettable days of the Nashville Fairgrounds "Asylum," the excitement and uncertainty of launching a brand-new wrestling promotion, and TNA's evolution into the Spike TV era in Orlando. Jeff offers candid insight into his philosophy on tag team wrestling and why he always believed great teams should be allowed to grow rather than be split apart too soon. The conversation doesn't shy away from the business side of wrestling either, as Chris opens up about the frustrations surrounding his 2008 TNA contract negotiations, the communication breakdown that led to his departure, and the backstage realities of navigating creative, politics, and leadership during one of the company's most pivotal eras. Finally, the interview takes a deeply personal turn as Chris reflects on his sobriety journey and the impact Jeff Jarrett has had as both a mentor and friend. Jeff shares heartfelt thoughts on recovery, perseverance, and the day-to-day commitment required to overcome life's toughest battles. In July 2022, 17-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla drove her car into a brick building at nearly 100 miles per hour with her boyfriend Dominic Russo and his friend Davion Flanagan inside. Both of Mackenzie's passengers were killed on impact, but she survived. In 2026 Netflix released “The Crash,” a documentary detailing the case. An investigation cast suspicion over what really happened in the early morning hours when the fatal crash occurred. Was it a tragic accident, or did Mackenzie Shirilla intentionally torpedo her car into a building? Were there unknown variables like her car brakes malfunctioning or a medical emergency? Or did something sinister drive the teenaged girl to turn her vehicle into a weapon? Follow Jami @JamiOnAir on Instagram and TikTok. She married them fast, drugged their food, and emptied their bank accounts. Then they died. Melissa Ann Shepard did it for decades, moving between Canada and Florida, leaving a trail of dead and disabled husbands behind her. The drug was always the same. The pattern was always the same. And no one could stop her until one man survived long enough to tell someone what was in his coffee. In this episode of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy follows the Internet Black Widow from her first kill to her last arrest, and the question that haunted every investigation: was she a murderer, or just a thief who didn't care if her victims lived or died?Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. In Part 2 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy follows Andrew Cunanan's cross-country killing spree from Minneapolis to Miami Beach. After murdering two men he knew personally, Andrew killed a wealthy Chicago real estate developer and a New Jersey cemetery worker before driving south to Florida, where he spent two months hiding in plain sight just miles from Gianni Versace's Ocean Drive mansion. On the morning of July 15th, 1997, Gianni stepped out for magazines and coffee. He never made it back through his front door. What followed was a massive manhunt, an eight-day standoff that ended on a houseboat, and a death that left every question about motive unanswered. Andrew Cunanan took his reasons with him, but Gianni's legacy endured through the sister who refused to let it die.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. Gianni Versace was the Italian fashion designer who turned bold prints, bare skin, and celebrity culture into a global empire. From his mother's seamstress studio in southern Italy, he rose to dress everyone from Princess Diana to Tupac Shakur, building a brand that generated over $800 million in annual sales by the mid-1990s. In Part 1 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy traces Gianni's creative journey from small-town Calabria to the top of the fashion world, while introducing the man who would destroy it all: Andrew Cunanan, a 27-year-old con artist whose carefully constructed life of lies was collapsing around him. As Gianni settled into his Miami Beach mansion at the height of his influence, Andrew bought a one-way ticket to Minneapolis, where two men who trusted him were about to pay for it with their lives.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. We're heading to Samoa again with Scott K, host of The Church of Tarantino and Men of Action podcasts, to talk about Hobbs & Shaw! After talking about why Scott claimed Hobbs & Shaw months ago, we hear his (sort of unusual) rankings. We wind up comparing the franchise (and its characters) to Batman and Robin, Halloween III, and Charles Manson -- each of which inspires exciting possibilities for alternate realities. Scott promises to do some Kurt Russell recon for us then discusses what he loves about Hobbs & Shaw -- and where he wishes the movie ended. Joey comes up with a potential reason why Vin Diesel may be so serious in the later movies and wonders: were they trying to set up Eiza Gonzalez's character for a spinoff? In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami walks listeners through the 2026 Netflix documentary series, Trust Me: The False Profit. From 2019 to 2022, Samuel Bateman led a breakaway polygamist FLDS sect in the aftermath of Warren Jeff's imprisonment. The sect of loyal Warren Jeffs followers were struggling and vulnerable when Bateman showed up in their Short Creek community, near the border of Arizona and Utah. Bateman declared himself the successor of Warren Jeffs and used religious authority to control his followers and sexually abuse minors. In 2016, Christine Marie, a survivor of abuse by a religious cult leader, ingratiated herself to the Short Creek FLDS community. She, along with her partner, Tolga Katas, began gathering evidence that would ultimately lead to Bateman's arrest, conviction and imprisonment. Follow Jami Rice on IG, TikTok and YouTube @jamionair. Happy Fastivus! We celebrate this holiday (named by @ReactionRocket) each year on June 22, which marks the anniversary of the original movie's release to theaters. This year is a monumental Fastivus, given that it's the 25th anniversary! We talk about the future of the franchise, which is brighter than it has been in years, with Fast Forever on the calendar, new TV series in the works, and maybe exciting new actors joining the franchise! After recapping past Hall of Fame inductees (apologies to Jordana Brewster for bad bookkeeping on this end), Joey reveals his ballot for the first time. We then reveal what fell off the ballot, what made it in, and hold the first-ever meeting of the Senior Committee. After we replenish the ballot for next year, we do a deep dive into Seinfeld x Fast and Furious crossover actors, where Joe demonstrates exceptional Seinfeld recall. On August 31st, 1997, Princess Diana died in a car crash in a Paris tunnel. She was 36 years old. The official investigation concluded it was a tragic accident caused by a drunk driver and high-speed paparazzi pursuit. But for millions of people around the world, the explanation never quite fit. Questions about the events leading up to that night, the role of the British establishment, and what Diana herself had feared in the months before her death have fueled debate for nearly three decades. In this episode of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy examines the life, the crash, the investigations, and the theories that have kept the world asking whether there is more to the story than what was officially told.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. By the mid-1970s, Sal Mineo's Oscar-nominated Hollywood career had collapsed. He was broke, deeply in debt, and sleeping in a rented apartment with rented furniture. But a sold-out stage run in San Francisco had the critics raving again, and a deal to direct his first feature film was finally coming together. On the night of February 12th, 1976, Sal left rehearsal for the LA run of his comeback show, stopped for cupcakes and cigarettes, and pulled into his usual parking spot. He never made it to his front door. In Part 2 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy follows Sal's fall from teen idol to forgotten star, the brutal stabbing that ended his life at 37, and an investigation derailed by tabloid speculation before the truth finally surfaced.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. Before he was a Hollywood star, Sal Mineo was a scrappy kid from the Bronx who couldn't stop getting into fights. His mother enrolled him in dance lessons to keep him out of trouble, and by 11 he was on Broadway. By 15 he was in his first film. By 16, he was reading lines poolside at the Chateau Marmont with James Dean, cast as one of three leads in Rebel Without a Cause. It was the kind of rise that seemed destined to last forever. It didn't. In Part 1 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy traces Sal's path from a tiny apartment above his family's casket business to the brightest lights in Hollywood, and the beginning of a story that would end on a dark Los Angeles street two decades later.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. It's Life in the Fast Lane -- or is it the Slow Lane? -- because "slow is fine" after all, according to Vin Diesel. Anyway... We kick things off with the Tokyo Drift Minute, where we learn all about Paw Man and wonder why Sean isn't thrown out of the bath house in his towel. We then Run the VIN and get the first classic Vin post in more than two months, where we get a big update: "Several works in progress. Riddick. Kaulder with Sir Michael. Rock ‘em Sock ‘em… went personal on this one, but Mattel loves it. Theo, my homage to New York, the city that made me. The Arbor King. Some say Groot is Disney's most valuable asset." You said it, Vin! 2 Fast 2 Furious is in the Criterion Closet! (Thanks, Jason.) But... is Vin Diesel? Joe offers helpful life advice to improve your bath routine and talks about his hunt for New England's best cinnamon roll. We talk about Backrooms, Widow's Bay, Margot's Got Money Troubles (no spoilers for any). Joey talks about the Radiohead Motion Picture House and Phoebe Bridgers' $1 concert. In the 1990s and early 2000s, trash daytime TV was in its heyday. Shows like Ricki Lake, Jenny Jones, and the notoriously scandalous Jerry Springer were a guilty pleasure for anyone craving peak drama. Guests on these shows were encouraged to be loud, explosive, obscene, shocking, and even physically violent. The more over-the-top they were, the better the ratings. The Jerry Springer Show, which made its debut in 1991, featured themes that were among the most controversial. From white supremacists to eccentrics married to farm animals, watching Jerry Springer was like seeing a tabloid magazine come to life. Christian advocacy groups and media watchdogs claimed the show was destroying America. Maybe Jerry Springer marked the end of a more wholesome era of television, but it wasn't as serious as life or death. Except it was for 52-year-old Nancy Campbell. In July 2000 Nancy was murdered in her home not long after appearing as a guest on The Jerry Springer Show. Follow Jami @JamiOnAir on Instagram and TikTok. We're headed back to a very early “car” movie to talk about John Ford's stagecoach with the help of Tobin Addington! After Joey bullies Joe into voting for the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall of Fame (and you can, too!), we discuss the historical context of Stagecoach: it's the movie that legitimized the Western genre and inspired filmmakers for decades to come, and also the movie that turned both John Wayne and John Ford into stars. Joe shares his ties to Geronimo. We talk about the closest scenes and vehicles we've gotten to a stagecoach in the franchise, discuss a Sorcerer-esque stunt (and how that opened up a whole new path of stunts in this movie, thanks to Yakima Canutt), and the origins of the term “riding shotgun.” We try to contextualize both the racism in the film and the atrocity of the Running W stunt. Tobin shares more insight into the ways in which this inspired Fast and Furious. Joey talks about the ties between this movie and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie. Jasveen Sangha was seated at the breakfast table the morning of October 29th, 2023, when a headline flashed across the TV that would turn her glamorous world of privilege upside-down, Former “Friends” star Matthew Perry found dead at his Pacific Palisades home. A lump formed in her throat. Only days before she'd supplied someone connected to the actor 25 vials of liquid ketamine, enough to comatose an African elephant. She typed in a quick Google search: “Can ketamine be blamed for causing death?” Any hope she had that the story would simply fade away was quickly dashed. Despite his well-publicized struggle with drugs and alcohol, Perry, 54, was still worth millions and a legion of “Friends” fans demanded to know who was responsible for giving “Chandler” his fatal dose. In the months that followed, police arrested five individuals for having a hand in Perry's tragic demise. It wasn't a set of the usual suspects. Two physicians, a rehab counselor, the actor's live-in assistant, and an international, jet-setting socialite authorities dubbed “The Ketamine Queen” were among those arrested in connection with Perry's death. On the morning of March 27, 1991, three-year-old Megan Elizabeth Garner was playing outside her family's apartment at the Casa Grande Apartments in Tyler, Texas. It was spring break, the weather was warm, and nothing about the day seemed unusual. That is, until Megan vanished. What began as a frantic search by family members quickly escalated into one of East Texas's most enduring missing child investigations. Law enforcement officers, firefighters, volunteers, tracking dogs, helicopters, and eventually the FBI searched tirelessly for answers. Despite extensive efforts, investigators found no physical evidence, no confirmed sightings, and no clear explanation for how a child disappeared in broad daylight from a crowded apartment complex.Over the following months and years, Megan's case gained national attention through organizations such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the Kevin Collins Foundation, America's Most Wanted, and The 700 Club's Child Quest. Millions of Americans saw her photograph, yet every promising lead ultimately led nowhere.More than three and a half decades later, Megan remains missing. In this episode, we examine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, the massive search effort that followed, the theories investigators considered, and the heartbreaking reality faced by a family still searching for answers after all these years.f you have any information about the disappearance of Megan Elizabeth Garner, please contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000.You can support gone cold and listen to the show ad-free at https://patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us at https://www.gonecold.comFor Gone Cold merch, visit https://gonecold.dashery.comFollow gone cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X. We've got a jam-packed Life in the Fast Lane today, including an all-time quote: “in my mind, you, Vin, were born in Cannes.” – Thierry Frémaux – Vin Diesel. First, we start with a Tokyo Drift Minute that could have been filled with so much detail! But, alas. Still, we find some good stuff, Joe gives us a Japanese history lesson, and Joey talks about Wim Wenders' film Perfect Days. A reminder: voting is still open for the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall of Fame, so vote now! Next: Vin is back on Instagram in a big way, but his captions are less prolific than usual. (That's okay; you'll see why soon.) We then catch up on all the news from the NBCU Upfronts and Cannes. Most importantly: the new Fast and Furious TV series (at least one! maybe four! probably not!) in what Vin Diesel is calling “The TV Space.” We talk about how we'll cover the shows, guess what they'll be about, and pitch our dream show. Vin gave a prolonged intro to screening of The Fast and the Furious film at Cannes? You don't say! Meanwhile, Jordana Brewster requests more agency for her character (nice!) while making some conflicting comments about whether or not she watches these movies. Joey reads Vin Diesel's essay in Variety, which is both genuinely good and genuinely Vin. Joe shares some good news about the new Tokyo Drift rollercoaster. A listener writes in with a new theory about whether Tokyo Drift takes place in 2006 or 2013, and our Patreon family grows in two ways. We talk (without spoilers!) about Obsession, I Love Boosters, and more movies in theaters. Email us: family@cageclub.meVisit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. We connect the psychology of personal presentation to the way communities signal what they expect of themselves, explain why Washington D.C. went decades without anyone in power noticing a fountain outside Union Station hadn't worked in 17 years, and give credit where it's due — Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who says squalor is not a destiny, it is a choice — for the restoration happening across the nation's capital right now. Even in a city where 98% voted for Kamala Harris, people are noticing the fountains are running again. In our Top 3, New Jersey police finally broke up the well-organized, well-funded riots outside the ICE detention center in Newark after Governor Mickey Sherrill instituted a curfew — and once order was restored, ICE was able to resume visitation rights at the facility. Then the frontrunner for the Democrat Senate nomination in Maine is now facing allegations of sending sexually explicit messages to multiple women on a platform known as a predator's paradise — on top of the previously reported SS tattoo — and is still leading in the polls. And the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Texas can enforce its state-level law making illegal entry into Texas a state crime — a significant win for state sovereignty and border security. We revisit the CDL license story — a naturalized Chinese citizen in New York who could not speak or read English was given a commercial driver's license and subsequently killed five people, four of them from the same immigrant family. We ask the hard question — when you relax your standards past the point of logic, people die. And the state of New York failed those people by treating a CDL as a checkbox rather than a safety standard. Our American Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson tackle the great group chat divide — who leaves, who stays, who creates the devastating side chat that accidentally gets sent back to the main group, and why the proper etiquette for exiting a group chat is to announce your departure before the precious baby photo drops and not the second after. We also get into the workplace group chat that becomes a clique engine, and why men with fat thumbs just don't participate. We dig deep into a CBRE study on corporate headquarter relocations covering 2018 through 2024 — and the results could not be clearer. In 2024 alone, California lost 17 corporate headquarters, 12 of them to Texas. Texas gained nearly 50% of all interstate relocations. The number one reason companies gave — by a margin that made every other reason almost irrelevant — was business climate, meaning lower taxes, fewer regulations, and local governments that actually want you there. We connect it to the same reason individuals move from blue states to red states and tie it back to the core argument of our book Bright Spots, Big Country — economic freedom is the engine of everything. We also dig into the Iran situation — where President Trump is continuing negotiations while maintaining military and economic pressure through the Strait of Hormuz blockade. We share our theory that the timeline for final resolution may be connected to the midterm elections, why the next military step would create a humanitarian crisis Trump is trying to avoid, and why the Democrats calling it a quagmire have it exactly backwards. We also cover the Pennsylvania woman now on the FBI's Most Wanted list for faking a terminal cancer diagnosis to swindle friends and family out of $11,000 — and use it as an illustration of what a law and order administration looks like when it sets a tone that no fraud is too small to chase. For our Bright Spot, Target is testing a new employee evaluation system that measures customer interaction — eye contact, greetings, offering assistance, projecting the energy of someone who is actually glad you're there. We call it common sense disguised as innovation and point out the oldest truth in business — what gets measured gets done. We also check in on the Los Angeles mayor's race, where Spencer Pratt is not just competitive against incumbent Karen Bass — he's running what may be the most effective political advertising campaign we've seen, built entirely on common sense ideas and the willingness to acknowledge visible reality. We make the case that in 2026, voters don't care about your resume anymore. They care whether you're willing to tell the truth about what's in front of them. And we close with Ethan Hayes, playing guitar in his backyard, and eight-year-old neighbor Madeline Glenn, who wrote a song request on a piece of paper, folded it into a paper airplane, and tossed it over the fence. Ethan played Love Story. The video went viral. Taylor Swift found out, and sent handwritten letters and signed guitars to both of them. May your pursuit of happiness bring you joy. Today's True Weird Stuff - Bloody Bishop In 1976, a respected U.S. diplomat named William Bradford Bishop murdered his wife, mother, and three sons. He drove their bodies 275 miles to a swamp and set them on fire. Bishop vanished soon after, abandoning his car near the Great Smoky Mountains. He spent nearly 42 years on the FBI’s Most Wanted list and was never captured. No one knows if he died in those mountains…or if he simply became someone else.
Jordan Polan-Clarke returns to the show to talk about The Fate of the Furious… and the future of the franchise! After we acknowledge the vast shift in the F&F landscape since we last recorded – and remind you that voting is still open for the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall of Fame – we turn our focus to the Fate of the Furious (and Jordan's journey through the franchise). Is this the least Fast and Furious movie so far? How much do the women have to do in this movie? Is Dom Cuban? How much “engine work” does he really do? Does he make pasta and sauce from scratch? We discuss all these questions as Joe goes deep (but not too deep) into store-bought pasta. We also talk about what stands out in the Dom and Queenie scene, what Fast & Furious could have learned from Friends, and the homophobia in the film found almost exclusively in the Extended Cut. Then, we explore the differences in the Extended Cut, ask whether Hobbs and/or Shaw is gay, and talk about what Roman used to be good at. Is this the most classic car movie F&F? Is Dom's villain turn believable, or is he reluctant on purpose? What will the Peacock F&F TV series be about? Plus: Jordan takes a BIG swing in the Fast Forever guessing game! “It's not one lane… it's multi-lane, like 75 or something.” Dre Clemons brings that Detroit truth into this episode of Detroit is Different, sharing a life shaped by Joy Road, hip-hop, design, education, and community responsibility. Known through worlds connected to Detroit's Most Wanted, Whodini, music, product design, transportation design, and architecture, Dre explains how growing up near Wyoming, Livernois, Rouge Steel, arcades, Dairy Queen, McKenzie, and Cass Tech built his imagination. He remembers Joy Road as “both a joy and a treacherous place to be,” where industry, danger, family, music, and style all moved together. Dre's story opens a deeper understanding of Black Detroit creativity: the same hands that touched hip-hop culture also studied computer-aided drafting, designed products, taught at College for Creative Studies and the University of Michigan, and poured into young people. This conversation matters because it connects Detroit's past to its future—showing how neighborhood lessons become art, engineering, entrepreneurship, and education. Dre Clemons reminds us that Detroit brilliance has always lived in the streets, schools, plants, bands, and families that shaped the culture. It's time for another Life in the Fast Lane, and while the Vinstagram may be quiet, don't worry: The Rock is here to tell us that We Rock Lavalavas, We Rock Skirts. We start, as always, with the Tokyo Drift minute, which features a very cinematic schoolday from Justin Lin and a question about the timeline of Tokyo Drift: when are we saying it happened? A PSA: voting for the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall of Fame is now open, and it features a new category! You'll know by now, but: what will we get from Cannes? We discuss. We also talk about a new approach to episode titles when the Vinstagram is quiet, how quickly we're approaching an extinction-level event (which only we are covering!), and how Letterboxd and IMDb are handling AI performers. It seems there is a growing disconnect between courts and the public, which directly affects the public's trust and confidence in our court system. Judges and court staff routinely speak to the public. They frequently speak to small, targeted groups, such as business leaders, civic organizations, or students in schools. Thesepublic outreach campaigns reach dozens, if not hundreds, of community members. At the same time, media voices reach thousands, even millions. The nightly news and programs such as Dateline,America's Most Wanted, and 48 Hours shape how people see crime and our courts. These stories can often leave the impression that crime is rampant and that the courts are too lenient. We, court professionals, often rely on data and statistics to explain the courts. In fact, crime today is lower than in the 1990s. Americans are far less likely to be victims of crime than 30 years ago. Violent crime specifically has fallen for the pastcouple of years. The FBI reported a 4.5% drop in 2024, with murder down nearly 15%. The media, however, relies on storytelling, and in that they are experts. A well-told story is powerful and can be hard to counter. Paraphrasing the political consultant and communications strategist Frank Luntz, “a single compelling story can level a mountain of data.” This month, we look at our courts and the struggle to control the narrative that describes the vital role our courts play in our society. We ask the questions, do we need to rethink how we communicate with the public? How do we reach a broader audience? Meet the Stopwatch Gang: three polite Canadian crooks turned bank robbery into a precision sport, hitting over 140 banks across North America and walking away with $15 million without firing a single shot. They wore presidential Halloween masks, escaped from prison multiple times, and became so notorious that the boss landed on the FBI's Most Wanted list. At their peak, they stole millions while humiliating police forces across North America and becoming legends in the criminal underworld. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We're headed back to the wasteland for Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior! Our first order of business: making sense of the title variants. After discussing where this fits into the Mad Max chronology, we talk about the many things that Fast and Furious lifted from this movie (including a look back at past Fast & Furious Minute documents!). We explore the lore and fan theories that Mad Max 2 created, admire the film's many deaths (and the freedom of having that as an option), and ask: who are the good guys? Are there good guys? We talk about action scene fakeouts and the ingenuity with the stunts - as well as where things almost went horribly wrong. In a podcast first (?!?), we make an on-air scheduling pivot! A Sniper in the Woods - and a Town Under Siege. The 48-Day Manhunt That Terrorized America.A Silent Forest. A Sniper's Bullet. A Community Held Hostage. On the night of September 12, 2014, the autumnal quiet of the Pocono Mountains was shattered by the crack of a .308-caliber rifle. At the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Blooming Grove, Corporal Bryon Dickson and Trooper Alex Douglass fell, victims of a calculated ambush launched from the darkness of the treeline. The shooter was not a phantom, but a neighbor: Eric Matthew Frein, a survivalist and military reenactor who had spent years preparing for a private war against the state. As Frein vanished into the dense, unforgiving woodlands he knew intimately, he sparked one of the largest and most expensive manhunts in American history. It also landed him on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list.Lying in Wait takes readers deep inside the forty-eight-day siege that transformed a peaceful region into a "Green Hell" of fear and paranoia. From the terrified silence of lockdown to the high-tech war room of the pursuit, Howard Frank reconstructs the harrowing search for a "mission-oriented killer" who viewed murder as an art form.Drawing on forensic reports, court transcripts, interviews with key players, and the killer's own chilling journals, this is the definitive account of a domestic terrorist who mistook his own delusions for revolution, and the relentless machinery of justice that rose to meet him.Howard Frank is an award-winning journalist, a senior content writer and a native New Yorker. Howard transitioned from a successful career in the fashion industry to spend over a decade as a frontline reporter, eventually bringing his investigative rigor to the world of high-level scientific instrumentation.A dedicated mental health advocate and true crime author, Frank specializes in the shadowed architecture of the criminal psyche. He is the author of two gripping works that explore the extremes of human experience: TALK TO THE DEVIL - A raw, tear-stained memoir of surviving severe clinical depression, hailed for its unflinching honesty and its role in breaking the silence surrounding mental illness, and CHAMELEON: A chilling, meticulously researched account of a double murder in the Poconos, praised for its deep-dive into the fractured mind of killer Michael John Parrish. From the precision of the laboratory to the dark corners of the forensic world, Frank remains a singular voice in the study of the human condition.About Author Howard Frank

It's time for Life in the Fast Lane, and we come bearing a good news update: there's no need for a wellness check. First, though, we see Sean square off against Major Boswell in a sparse Tokyo Drift minute that reminds us of how we watched (and tracked) these minutes when we first started. Then, we talk about some new movie announcements in our orbit, as there's no real Fast & Furious news. We also explore (and debunk) some Fast & Furious theories we found on YouTube, talk about the tech bringing Val Kilmer “back” from the dead, and hear about a new way of determining the amount of Hobbs in Fast Forever (using math!). Joe talks about recent travels, while Joey talks about Lily Allen performing West End Girl and a debacle of Record Store Day. We also briefly talk about Mother Mary and the new season of Euphoria before we do a deep-dive (with spoilers) of The Drama (skip from 51:00 to 1:00:10). This week on Breaking Battlegrounds, Chuck Warren and Sam Stone are joined by Manhattan Institute Cities policy analyst Santiago Vidal Calvo and Washington Free Beacon editor and Middle East Forum junior fellow Alex Welz, plus a special radio edition of B's Corner true crime. Santiago Vidal Calvo Born in Caracas and now leading the Manhattan Institute's Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) efforts, Santiago opens with an on-the-ground report from Venezuela following the capture of Maduro — including the first American Airlines flight back to Caracas in nearly a decade — and explains why Trump must press for elections in Venezuela before the U.S. midterms if his policy is to survive a potential shift in Congress. He walks through how government agencies have weaponized "privacy" exemptions and bureaucratic stonewalling to block public records requests, and why Manhattan Institute is willing to take these fights to court when ordinary citizens cannot. Santiago then breaks down his Daily Wire piece on New Jersey Transit's $150 train ticket from Penn Station to MetLife for the 2026 World Cup — versus a $60 Uber on the same route — and contrasts New Jersey's mismanagement with Kansas City's pro-tourism approach of expanded bar and restaurant hours. In the second segment, he unpacks Mayor Zohran Mamdani's "racial equity plan" and the redefinition of poverty in New York City through a $150,000 "true cost of living" benchmark — which conveniently labels two-thirds of the richest city in America as unable to afford it, justifying a massive expansion of government with 400 new indicators and 600 goals. Santiago argues the real diagnosis isn't race but housing supply, the rent freeze, and the cost of opening a business. Follow Santiago on X: @SantiVidalC B's Corner B brings the 1981 disappearance and murder of 6-year-old Adam Walsh from a Sears in Hollywood, Florida — a case that took 27 years to officially close, briefly entangled Jeffrey Dahmer as a suspect, and was ultimately tied to serial killer Ottis Toole. Out of unimaginable tragedy, Adam's father John Walsh launched America's Most Wanted, founded the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and helped drive the creation of the Amber Alert system. The team also revisits the era of the Sears catalog and what that brand once meant to American life. Alex Welz, an editor at the Washington Free Beacon and a junior fellow at the Middle East Forum with a master's in national security from the University of Haifa, walks through the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire, why disarming Hezbollah remains a generational challenge despite UN Resolution 1701 and the Taif Agreement. On Iran, Alex argues the regime turned out far less fragile than Venezuela-style optimists hoped, but ballistic missile capacity, the navy, and oil revenues have all been dramatically degraded, and the latest wave of protests could still force a fold. In the podcast segment, the conversation deepens and Alex shares his prediction for where Iran stands by November 2026. We're headed to Abu Dhabi to talk about Furious 7, this time with Derek Lawrence: journalist and author of the upcoming book, A Quarter-Mile at a Time: The Oral History of the Fast & Furious Franchise! After learning about his new book (its format, release date, and what he learned from his interviews), we share a mutual admiration of Vin Diesel's Instagram and talk about what Fast Forever will look like (as well as what fans actually want). Derek remembers a time when his friends splintered over Tokyo Drift vs. Cars, talks about his love for Fast and Furious and Hitch, and shares his favorite Fast interviews. We talk about whether Fast Forever could mark a return to Furious 7, reexamine Kurt Russell's presence in the franchise, and wonder why we haven't seen a Shaw family movie yet. Derek talks about what he loves most about Furious 7 (and what he'd remove). We share new theories about the Vin/Rock feud and who Samantha Hobbs's mom may be. Derek names the only writers he would trust with writing Fast movies, gives Jordana Brewster credit for her emotion in this movie, and tells us a fun story about his rapport with Sung Kang. Happy Arbor King Day! As we do every year on Arbor Day, we're celebrating by watching one of the Arbor King's shorts. This year, we're watching Groot's First Steps, which is available to stream in the "I Am Groot" TV series on Disney+. After talking about how we're going to spend our Arbor Day, and how much we love trees, we talk about the similarities between this web series and the 2020 documentary I Am Greta. We also talk about the many questions that Groot's First Steps cause us to ask, like: is Baby Groot a cannibal? What's that green sap? Is Groot the Han of the Guardians? In a very quiet (or, in Joe's words: "least available to us") installment of the Tokyo Drift Minute, we find ourselves face to face with a reference to classic horror. Then, Vin Diesel lets us down as our Running of the VIN yields no new Instagram posts. We get some more (bold!) guesses about the amount of screentime for Hobbs in Fast Forever. Joey disappoints Joe re: new movies, but follows it up with a recap of a great theater experience. We then talk about other things we've watched (and making guesses about upcoming seasons of The Pitt) before talking about sports frustrations and fast food recommendations. In the Nancy Guthrie investigation, the evidence collected in the first hours — the DNA from inside the home, the doorbell camera footage, the physical items left behind — is either going to solve this case or it isn't. The determining factor will be whether the people who handled that evidence from the very first moment were equipped for the responsibility. The Adam Walsh case is what happens when they aren't. And it's the most devastating evidence failure in modern American criminal history. In 1981, six-year-old Adam Walsh was abducted from a Sears store in Hollywood, Florida. Two weeks later, his severed head was found in a canal over a hundred miles away. A serial killer named Ottis Toole confessed — twice. He described the abduction, the murder, and the machete he used. His description matched the autopsy findings. The Hollywood Police Department had everything it needed to close this case. Then the department lost it all. The bloody carpet from Toole's car — the most critical piece of physical evidence — was "misplaced." The blood on the machete was never lifted for testing. The car itself vanished from police custody entirely. Photographs from the original evidence collection were never even developed — they sat in the case file for over two decades. Without physical evidence, Toole recanted. He was never charged. He died in prison in 1996 serving time for other crimes. It took twenty-seven years for Hollywood PD to officially name Toole as the killer and apologize for the department's failures. John Walsh channeled his grief into America's Most Wanted, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and AMBER Alerts. The system his son's case broke became the system his son's legacy rebuilt. The Guthrie case is active right now. The evidence chain is live. Every person who touches it is either preserving Nancy's chance at justice or compromising it. The Adam Walsh case is proof — permanent, irreversible proof — that when the wrong people handle the evidence, even a confession and a cooperating suspect aren't enough to deliver justice.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Patrol work starts long before the call. From the moment an officer begins their shift, every decision — what to prioritize, how to respond and when to slow down — can impact outcomes for officers and the public alike. In this episode of the Policing Matters podcast, host Jim Dudley sits down with Sergeant John Banner of the White Settlement (Texas) Police Department to break down the critical thinking that happens behind the wheel. From managing competing demands like ALPR hits and priority calls to navigating fatigue, technology and pursuit decisions, this episode explores how officers maintain situational awareness and make sound judgments under pressure. Sgt. Banner shares practical insights on preparing mentally for shift, using technology effectively and coaching the next generation of officers — all while balancing the realities of modern policing. About our guest Sgt. John C. Banner is from Mineral Wells, Texas, and holds a bachelor's degree in business from Tarleton State University. He joined the White Settlement (Texas) Police Department in 2012 and has served in a variety of roles throughout his career, including detective, corporal, POA president and vice president, and SWAT operator. He currently serves as a night patrol sergeant and has also completed a rotation in the department's Street Crimes Division. Banner is a graduate of the ILEA 146th School of Police Supervision and has been recognized for his service with the Medal of Valor and two lifesaving awards. In 2024, he was also featured on “America's Most Wanted with John Walsh” (Season 2, Episode 4). About our sponsor This episode of the Policing Matters podcast is sponsored by OfficerStore. Grab a beer and join us tonight as wrap up our series on Kenneth McDuff! Last week we covered the Broomstick Murders and the series of decisions that put him back on the street in 1989. Tonight we follow what happened next. We'll walk through the early 1990s killing spree that included the abduction of Melissa Northrup from a Waco convenience store and the abduction of Colleen Reed from an Austin car wash, the investigators who refused to let the cases go cold, and how a fugitive warrant and an appearance on America's Most Wanted finally brought McDuff down working as a garbage truck driver in Kansas City. Then we'll cover the trials, the 1998 execution, and the legislative fallout that followed — because the McDuff case didn't just end with a lethal injection. It blew up the Texas parole system and changed the way the state handles violent offenders to this day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Mary Carole McDonnell was the CEO of a successful Burbank production company, behind true crime hits like I Married a Murderer. But behind the scenes, the company was hemorrhaging cash. To keep the lights on and the payroll moving, the 73-year-old allegedly stepped into a role of her own making: the secret heir to the McDonnell Aircraft fortune. In this episode of True Crime To Go, John and Jamie break down the brazen 2017–2018 fraud scheme that allegedly siphoned nearly $30 million from financial institutions. We detail how she used a non-existent $80 million trust fund to bait banks, the federal indictment that followed in 2018, and her current status on the FBI's Most Wanted list. --For early, ad free episodes and monthly exclusive bonus content, join our Patreon!
