Her remarks come as countries around the world begin to restrict mobile phone use in schools, prompting urgent questions about whether South Africa should follow their lead. For more on this Elvis Presslin spoke to former Police Commissioner and the CEO of the Safer South Africa Foundation, Riah Phiyega

He is a past chairman of the Southern African Freelancers Association and is sought after as a speaker and debater on environmental issues at international conferences. Deal presented at Al Gore's International Climate Leadership School in Johannesburg in March 2014 and was honored in the same year to be listed by City Press as 1 of 100 World Class South Africans, sharing the accolade with fellow citizens such as Nelson Mandela, Mark Shuttleworth and Charlize Theron. His background in journalism and public speaking has proved invaluable in moving Safe Citizen forward. As a committed trainer, he holds a fierce passion for lawful and competent private gun ownership and regards himself as an influencer in this realm in South Africa. Reading widely on training and civil rights issues, Deal views SafeCitizenas a necessary vehicle to move lawful gun owners close to the police as trusted allies – proving that citizens who can defend themselves will be a powerful and positive influence on the communities in which they live. Deal intends to use every resource available to unite lawful South Africans who support private firearm ownership, to overturn the untrue perception that firearms are bad and that private firearm owners are to blame for the flood of illegal firearms in the country. He is determined that his fellow citizens should be able, via the lawful possession of a firearm to enjoy the Constitutional guarantee of freedom from public or private violence. Beeld, Rapport, City Press, Daily Sun, Soccer Laduma, and the digital versions of Volksblad, Die Burger Oos-Kaap, and the digital hub SNL24 are among the print editions that are being axed.—They will be switching to being available exclusively online. The media landscape in South Africa will change if these legendary newspapers stop publishing in print. This is because digital news consumption is becoming more and more popular worldwide, severely reducing the circulation of print media and advertising revenue. What is the future of journalism and news in South Africa?
BYD (Build Your Dreams), a Chinese firm, has secretly unveiled South Africa's cheapest electric automobile. The new BYD Dolphin is a mid-sized electric hatchback comparable to the Toyota Corolla and Mazda3. Dolphin offers two versions, with pricing starting at R539,900 for the base model and R599,900 for the extended range. The latest news that will surprise readers and the South African media establishment is discussed by host Bruce Whitfield and William Bird of Media Monitoring Africa. Media24 plans to liquidate a number of its prominent print magazines, including City Press, Rapport, Beeld, and Daily Sun. It is acknowledged that October is when the axe might fall. The decision to close them has been independently verified by four individuals within the media company. Should businesses give their employees digital gadgets, such as watches or rings, to track their health? It's a major violation of privacy, but on the other side, it might be helpful as a gauge of mental and physical health. What would happen if one chose to opt out? Dave Kitely joins host Bruce Whitfield to discuss if and how this would work. Chief Excitement Officer Allon Raiz speaks to host Bruce Whitfield about small businesses and the Flowcode strategy, which is a system designed to assist companies in developing a plan that is bespoke to them. Which debuted roughly a month ago. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
