Interview with Keith Boyle, Director & CEO of New Found GoldOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/new-found-gold-tsxvnfg-high-grade-strategy-meets-near-term-cash-flow-8695Recording date: 9th January 2026New Found Gold is executing a comprehensive transformation from pure exploration company to emerging gold producer, driven by a complete leadership overhaul and strategic acquisitions designed to accelerate the path to cash flow. The most significant change began with a complete board renewal in December 2024, followed by the appointment of CEO Keith Boyle in January 2025. "They brought me in January of 25, the mandate being let's get the gold, let's get to production," Boyle explained. "We were an exploration company and had been doing that for five years since discovering the Queensway deposit and so it was time to make that shift."The new leadership team brings proven operational credentials. Chief Operating Officer Robert Assabgui previously served as VP of Hudbay's Manitoba division, where he brought the Lalor mine into production. CFO Hashim Ahmed brings project financing expertise from Mandalay Resources and Jaguar Mining. The board now includes former Newfoundland Premier Andrew Furey and experienced mining executives Tamara Brown, Chad Williams, and Allan Palmir.A pivotal strategic move was acquiring Maritime Resources' Hammerdown mine and milling facilities. Hammerdown is targeting steady-state production by mid-2026, providing near-term cash flow that will reduce external financing requirements for the flagship Queensway project. "At these gold prices, it really is going to help us in being able to manage the amount of money that we have to raise externally," Boyle noted. For Queensway, the company released a mineral resource estimate and preliminary economic assessment in July 2025, which helped secure $87 million in financing. Final Investment Decision is targeted for H2 2026, with environmental assessment submission planned for Q1 2026. The company expects favorable permitting timelines in mining-friendly Newfoundland, potentially enabling construction commencement in late 2026.Despite the production focus, New Found Gold maintains aggressive exploration commitments. "We still want to keep the drill bit turning to find that game-changing, that Swan Zone, that next big one, because it will create that additional value for us," Boyle emphasized, highlighting the camp-scale potential of the land package.View New Found Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/new-found-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Interview with Keith Boyle, CEO of New Found Gold Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/new-found-golds-strategic-maritime-resources-acquisition-building-canadas-next-gold-producerRecording date: 15th September 2025New Found Gold Corp. has strategically strengthened its leadership team with three key appointments that position the company for its transition from developer to producer following the Maritime Resources acquisition. The headline appointment sees Dr. Andrew Furey, former Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, joining the board of directors, bringing unparalleled political connections and regulatory expertise to guide operations in the province where both Hammerdown and Queensway projects are located. CEO Keith Boyle emphasized the strategic value, noting that "the political world and all those connections really do help a business and that oversight, making sure that we advance in the right way, that's gold."The operational leadership team has been enhanced with the appointment of Hashim Ahmed as CFO, bringing proven experience from Mandalay Resources and Jaguar Mining, and the promotion of Robert Assabgui to COO, leveraging his decades of mining engineering experience including successful development of Hudbay's Lalor mine. These appointments address the sophisticated financial and operational requirements as New Found Gold manages both Hammerdown's production ramp-up starting in early 2026 and Queensway's C$155 million Phase 1 development. The leadership expansion builds on the Maritime acquisition's strategic rationale, which Boyle described as creating synergies where "Maritime's got a nice little gold mine operation coming into production later this year and that gold production will help fund phase one of the Queensway project." With Hammerdown projected to contribute approximately C$70 million in cash flow and Queensway Phase 1 targeting 69,300 ounces annually, the enhanced team provides the expertise needed to achieve the company's objective of "cracking the 200,000-ounce mark." The appointments collectively reduce political, operational, and financial risks while positioning New Found Gold to capitalize on district-scale exploration opportunities across its expanded Newfoundland land position in a Tier 1 mining jurisdiction.—Learn more: https://cruxinvestor.com/companies/new-found-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Is the journal publishing process and the “game” around journal publishing forcing us to give up on big ideas and instead work on small ideas about trivial matters? We are not so sure. We think that science needs many different types of academics, and they have all sorts of different ideas, big and small, and we need outlets for expressing every single one of them. But outlets, like ideas, are not all equal. Journals are an incremental genre leaning toward rigor and thus risk type-2 errors. Book are an expansive genre learning towards big ideas – and thus risk type-1 errors. So the question is rather what type of scholar you are and whether you can handle the very different processes and mechanisms – those associated with big ideas that take a long time to develop, versus the production of smaller ideas and insights that incrementally push our knowledge forward. From Sparks to Light - Inspiring Stories for Challenging Times
Florencia Lalor's adopted family always spoke openly of her adoption. “It was one of the things they did right,” she says. And if she ever wanted to search for her birth mother, she always knew she would have their support. That moment came in 2004, when curious about the mother that gave her up, she grabbed the phone book and began making calls. What she discovered set her on a path that would change her personal and professional worlds.Florencia Lalor has spent her life working to understand the experience of adoption. An adoptee herself, she has spoken to hundreds of adoptees from all corners of the world. “I found one common thing… that we all have in common,” she says of the experience of the adoptee, “And that is that very profound fear of not being loved.”Florencia Lalor is a psychologist and social worker in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is the founder of La Voz del Hijo, a virtual platform for adoptees to bring their voices forward. She is co-author, (Belén López Medus y María Casabal) of a children's book, Ojos Color Cafe, Hazel Eyes, that is geared towards helping adoptees speak out about their experience. As you listen to this episode, consider:Florencia says that the early wound created when a child is given up for adoption creates a “fear of not being loved”, a fear that exists, no matter how much they are loved by their new family. How might knowing that help us to understand the journey of friends who are adopted. How does knowing where you come from affect your sense of belonging —or deepen your understanding of yourself?A truth about adoption is that adoptees belong to two families. Creating space for that duality is critical for the adoptee. Think about the “families” that you belong to. How do you integrate them in your own life? You can learn more about Florencia's work here.To learn more about Robert Maggio, the composer of "Where Love is Love," our theme music, please check out his website. To learn more about Suzanne, visit her website. E31 - The Fifth CourtPresented by Peter Leonard, BL and Mark Tottenham BL21'.30""In recent weeks the DPP cannot get Senior Counsel to act in criminal cases, I'm assuming because their fees, relative to other work, are so low." - Luigi Rea, BLLuigi Rea BL (joined the profession in 1977 and Darren Lalor BL (2015) join our hosts Peter Leonard and Mark Tottenham to talk about the 'burning issue' in the Law Library - the campaign to reverse the cuts in legal criminal aid fees. These were cut during the time of the Troika, but the fees that were cut were State fees, so legal aid fees (not other fees), and these cuts have never been reversed.Luigi talks about preferring criminal law over other areas such as property related cases where he didn't like when cases were being 'dragged out' 'so that fees would be generated'. 'Criminal (legal) work was easier to live with'.Luigi says that in criminal cases nowadays that you 'can't touch client's money (for fees) because such monies might be the proceeds of crime' and therefore could be a criminal offence to accept such a payment. 'Drugs dealers have money, but you can't touch it' - so it's legal aid or nothing.Peter Leonard asks Luigi 'how can you defend the bad guys' but Luigi interrupts and asks his own similar question that he's often asked, 'How do you defend people who are guilty' and he counters that by pointing out that 'on the other side' that there may be barristers prosecuting people who they know are innocent'.Darren Lalor left school at 14 and decided to go back to school and college. A chance encounter with Luigi in the taxi that Darren was driving [he happened to be reading a law book so a conversation ensued] that has forged a lifelong and life changing friendship, and Darren joined the profession in 2015 specialising in criminal cases. Jokingly, he refers to media mentions of the Four Courts as being the Four Goldmines, while the Criminal Courts of Justice as being the Four Coalmines.15.00" Luigi and Darren get into the meat of the campaign for the restitution of their fees back to the 2002 levels as he could work all day on a case and be paid €25. Luigi refers to one of his formal 'devils' who has fees outstanding from a solicitor of €7,000 - a 'loss' that she can't bear. They discuss the likelihood of a strike - which they say should happen 'sooner rather than later'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
