On today's episode, we have an open and engaging conversation with Reverend Bill Hartley, who takes us through his unique faith journey - from the Jesus movement in the 70s, through various evangelical churches, and finally to the Lutheran Church. His recounting of both the triumphs and trials he's experienced reveals his deep love for God and the theological depth of Lutheranism itself. As we journey with Reverend Hartley, we delve into the nuances of Methodist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran worship, emphasizing the importance of preserving the church's historical connection dating back 1500 years. We also explore how perceptions of God and man have evolved in the modern era, and why the focus should be on the church and the community over the individual. Reverend Hartley eloquently shares his perspective on the collective theological voice of the ages, God's grace, and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit.Lastly, we tackle the tough questions of leading a church that is resistant to change, and the trials that come with pastoral ministry. Reverend Hartley's unwavering focus on preaching the Word of God is a true testament to his faith. Join us as we dive into discussions about engaging both the head and the heart in worship, the crucial role of church planting, and the joy that comes from the faithfulness of the few. Join us and experience a journey that covers the highs, lows, and learnings of leading a missional church, all while staying faithful to the Lutheran tradition.Support the showVisit uniteleadership.org

This week on MDHR we are joined by Bill Hartley from Ghosts of Shepherdtown. Bill's introduction to the paranormal began during childhood, growing up in a house that was wrought with unusual paranormal activity. As an adult, he became a Civil War reenactor and founded the Fighting 57th North Carolina, in which he reenacted as his ancestor 1st Sgt. Jonas Hartsell. After witnessing unusual activity at historic locations, Hartley was inspired to pursue paranormal investigation. The explainable phenomena Hartley witnessed led him on a journey to discover as much as he could about the paranormal. In 2006, he founded the Greater Maryland Paranormal Society and dedicated himself to helping others living in fear of the mysterious unknown. Hartley believes it is important to have a balanced point of view when it comes to the paranormal investigations. While he does believe locations can be haunted, he remains a skeptic at the same time. Hartley worked at one of the most haunted locations in Maryland, the Westminster Hall and Burying Grounds that houses some of Maryland's most historical figures including Edgar Allen Poe. Hartley has also been seen on shows, Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal, RIP Files and One Tree Hill. Currently he lives in Upstate New York with his wife Karissa who is a psychic medium and they have formed the Twin Tears Paranormal Research and Investigations. So Check it Out!!

On a wildly paranormal episode of After Hours AM/America’s Most Haunted Radio — with hosts Joel Sturgis and Eric Olsen — we visit with Nick Groff, Bill Hartley, and Elizabeth Saint, stars of Destination America’s GHOSTS OF SHEPHERDSTOWN, which just returned for Season 2, exploring a region exploding with haunted activity. Nick, Bill, and Elizabeth join us Top of hour2; at Hour1 Joel and Eric ponder the week’s top paranormal news. Paranormal legend Nick Groff, tech guru Bill Hartley, and paranormal sensitive Elizabeth Saint return for season two of GHOSTS OF SHEPHERDSTOWN, following new leads to neighboring towns in an attempt to identity the wild paranormal activity in the area, with eight all-new episodes Monday nights at 10/9c on Destination America. In the first season of GHOSTS OF SHEPHERDSTOWN, a surge of 911 calls reporting supernatural activity in Shepherdstown, W.V., inspired Police Chief Michael King to call in the big paranormal guns to figure out why the town had become such a hotbed for hauntings. Nick Groff, Bill Hartley, and Elizabeth Saint, with the help of local historian Dana Mitchell and psychic medium Lorie Johnson, uncovered clues linking the rash of mysterious incidents to Shepherdstown’s historic waterways and a woman murdered on accusations of witchcraft in the town’s early history. The first season finale culminated in a ceremony on the Potomac River to cleanse the town of its “Witches Curse,” which seemed to settle the ghostly activity… within its own borders. Soon, Chief King began hearing from his colleagues in neighboring jurisdictions that the mysterious happenings had spread to their nearby towns, suggesting that Shepherdstown is only one piece to a much larger paranormal puzzle In the July 10 season premiere, Groff, Hartley, and Saint returned to Shepherdstown after Chief King received reports that the paranormal activity has s
