As the world fell apart at the end of 2020, you might have missed a few of our interviews. We are reposting this one with Cat Taber as she discusses her film Haven's End available now from Mill Creek Entertainment. This interview was originally conducted just prior to Christmas, 2020, however as stated above, it got lost in the shuffle of political turmoil in the United States and it deserves a second run. Cat Taber who I first met at San Diego Comic-Con for an animated film takes on the live action role of Dr. Alison Olsen in this sci-fi thriller entitled Haven's End. Table and I talk about animation, Star Wars Detours, what it was like returning to Georgia and filming in her own state as well as Christianity and Christmas. Official Synopsis: Genre-bending post-apocalyptic thriller Haven’s End is now available on DVD and Digital from Mill Creek. When major cities around the world burn in the aftermath of massive, coordinated terrorist attacks, Dr. Alison Olsen and her friends escape Atlanta for the refuge of her family property deep in the heart of rural Georgia. What they find there is unnatural, violent, and anything but safe. Star Wars : The Clone Wars’ Catherine Taber stars alongside Hannah Fierman (V/H/S), Megan Hayes (“Stranger Things”), Robert Pralgo (“Teen Wolf”), Anthony Ngyuen (“The Have and Have Nots”) and Alex Zuko (“Cobra Kai”) star. Chris Ethridge directs from a Michael H.Harper script. Haven's End is now available on DVD and Digital from Mill Creek Entertainment. From 2008: I’ve always been captivated by the Star Wars movies and mythos. My guest today, Catherine "Cat" Taber, is the actress who steps into the role of Padmé Amidala in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."
The heart of this episode is a fun interview with Star Wars veteran voice actress Cat Taber. Learn about her experience on The Force Awakens, and even though her name is "Cat", she may just love dogs. It's summer and the Force has awakened at Disney World. The new Star Wars fireworks may not begin until June 17th, but you will find them on this month's episode of Fangirls Going Rogue. The discussion kicks off with Teresa Delgado asking Tricia Barr and Sarah Woloski their thoughts on the Rogue One re-shoots. Luckily we'll know more about the movie come July when Celebration Europe happens. Tricia offers more news on her appearances at the convention, including a panel Friday on the STEM Heroes and Heroines of Star Wars! There was a lot of love Chewbacca Mom Candace Payne and the new Star Wars Show at starwars.com. Not only did J.J. Abrams blow Chewbacca Mom's mind by a personal visit, he spoke to young female filmmakers this month. Dave Filoni told guests at the National Conference on Woman and IT about how he has worked to include the presence of women in Star Wars. While things are looking up for women in storytelling, Geena Davis reminds everyone that the numbers still haven't improved since 1946 and that we need to keep speaking up about diversity. Listeners wanted to know our hopes and dreams for Star Wars Rebels Season 3. Tune in to find out what we think! The character discussion asks questions about the Inquisitors. We are now on Google Play for Android users. As always reviews and rating are our life blood. Thanks for listening, and until next time: Yub yub!
Today's Guest: Voice actor Rob Paulsen, whose talents can be heard on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Animaniacs," "Pinky & the Brain" and many more. He is also host of the "Talkin' Toons" podcast. Watch this exclusive Mr. Media interview with ROB PAULSEN by clicking on the video player above! Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of second-rate cartoon characters who think they could be top-tier if only Rob Paulsen would voice them… in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! Who didn’t love “Pinky & the Brain” and “The Animaniacs”? Delicious animated antics for the kids, word play, pop references and in-jokes for the adults! All that and big servings of today’s guest, voice actor Rob Paulsen. Paulsen, like Billy West, is a modern day Mel Blanc, the man of 1,000 voices who gave us Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Jack Benny’s sputtering Maxwell and so many more. ROB PAULSEN podcast excerpt: "In Season 4 of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,' we have a lot of celebrity talent. We've got a 13-story arc with David Tennant -- the 10th Doctor Who. I'm not a big Whovian but I love him in 'Broadchurch.' He is a Turtle fanatic!" You can LISTEN to this interview with voice actor ROB PAULSEN, who plays Donatello in the animated TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, by clicking the audio player above! A partial list of Paulsen’s characters includes: Hadji from “Johnny Quest”; Raphael on the first “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” series, Donatello on the latest version; Yakko Warner, Pinky and Dr. Scratch ‘n’ Sniff in “Animaniacs”; and, of course, Officer Douche on “The Boondocks.” He was also the voice of “The Mask” in the animated series based on the character created for the movie starring Jim Carrey. Smokin’! For a complete list of his thousands of credits – including roles on “Dexter’s Laboratory,” “Powerpuff Girls” and a multitude of DC and Marvel superhero cartoons, consult IMDB – with a lot of time on your hands! ROB PAULSEN podcast excerpt: "Most of us, our stock-in-trade is being versatile. Doing dialects, being able to sing, thinking on our feet, a lot of improv. Which is why Red Skelton, Carol Burnett, the Pythons, the Goons, and Jonathan Winters were all my heroes." In addition to drawing new roles, Paulsen can also be seen performing music from “The Animaniacs” live in concert with full orchestras around the country and he hosts a podcast called “Talkin’ Toons.” “Talkin’ Toons” – to which I have personally subscribed for months – is a show that attracts well-known voice actors such as Brad Garrett from “Everybody Loves Raymond” and Seth Green from “Robot Chicken” to performers such as Paulsen whose name you may not instantly know but whose familiar work will bring an instant smile to your face. ROB PAULSEN podcast excerpt: "Yakko's voice is no big deal. I have this ability to squeeze my voice. And I can do that allllllllllllll day long!" Incidentally, if you love the cartoons as I do, check the Mr. Media archives for my interviews with Josh Keaton, the voice of "Spectacular Spider-Man" and Disney’s "Hercules," Carolyn Lawrence, who is Sandy Cheeks on “Spongebob Squarepants,” and Cat Taber, the voice of Padme Amidala of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” Key interview moments: • 12:00 Rob Paulsen reveals a sort of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Doctor Who crossover in the animated series' fourth season; • 25:40 Learn what characterizes the best voice actors; • 44:20 Hear Paulsen, fast as Yakko, then as The Mask. Fangirls Going Rogue: Star Wars Conversation from a Female POV
On this month’s episode of Fangirls Going Rogue, Teresa Delgado and Tricia Barr report back on their convention trips, including interviews with Steve Blum (Zeb) and Greg Ellis (Baron Ruhdor) from Star Wars Rebels. Plus we unveil a new logo courtesy of RebelForce Radio’s Jimmy Mac and artist Chris Amorim. Listener emails always make us smile, and we’ve received even more mail this month from fanboys who love the show. Star Wars truly is for everyone! One email led to a discussion of ways to give back beyond the costuming fan organizations. Our suggestions include Force For the Cure and Cat Taber’s Games for Soldiers, which we highlighted in our first episode. The opening of ILM’s studio in London gave us a chance to talk about a couple of important women leading Lucasfilm into the future: Kathleen Kennedy and Lynwen Brennan. Kathleen Kennedy mentioned during the opening that Episode VII filming was nearing its conclusion, which is exciting, and also gave us a chance to talk about spoiler etiquette in the age of social media. In addition to Teresa’s awesome interviews from Fanboy Expo with the voices of Zeb and Baron Ruhdor, Steve Blum and Greg Ellis, we did a written interview with Star Wars Rebels artist extraordinaire Amy Beth Christenson. She is a lifelong fangirl who was inspired to draw Star Wars by her aunt. We hope you’ll check out her full interview either at FANgirl or Jedi News. Amy Beth Christenson won the Judge’s Choice for the Her Universe San Diego Comic-Con Fashion Show, which was just released on Nerdist.com. The closing character discussion was admittedly a bit of a lovefest, since it featured a favorite character for both hosts: Ahsoka Tano. You can find Steve Blum and Greg Ellis on Twitter. Send them a tweet to let them know how much you love Star Wars Rebels and the interview. Recorded 3/11/13 Ashley Eckstein joins Mike, Consetta, and Bryan to discuss the fate of Ahsoka Tano on the Clone Wars season finale and Ashley’s future on the show. But, before they delve into that conversation, they talk about the importance of female role-models in Star Wars, the success of Her Universe, and excitement of the new “Fan Girl of the Day” feature on the Her Universe website.
