This one starts out a little differently. Ian Paratore was born and raised in San Francisco, but he's moving away. This week. To Oakland. Ian's dad, Vince Paratore, moved into a Victorian in The Haight in the late-Seventies/early Eighties, and is still there. That's the house Ian grew up in starting roughly 10 years later. Both of his parents are artists and teachers. His dad came to San Francisco from Syracuse, New York, to study photography at SF State. And his mom, Valerie O'Riordan, is from Long Beach in Southern California. She moved to The City to work with ACT (American Conservatory Theater). The house at Page and Clayton is the only place Ian's dad has lived in SF. I asked Ian whether he knows any stories from that house before he was born in the early Nineties. Both his parents being "natural hosts," there were many parties. Nowadays, when his dad is out of town, Ian will sometimes have parties of his own at his dad's place. When he does, he says his dad often offers up stories from back in the day. One involves a party with so many people already inside cramming a hallway, folks had to come and go via the first escape. Back in the day, his dad was a general manager at restaurants like Stars, Donatello, Garibaldi's, and Beach Chalet, which he helped open. Both his parents were big in the San Francisco restaurant scene. We turn to Ian's early life, which he experienced in the mid-Nineties to early 2000s. As a kid, and a kid without a backyard, he spent a lot of time in Golden Gate Park and The Panhandle. He hung out on playgrounds and basketball courts. He adds that "the craziness of Haight Street was just … normal." I ask Ian about Skates on Haight, which I knew from my Eighties/Nineties skateboarding days from ads in magazines like Thrasher. (Marcella, who took photos for this episode and was with us at the table, chimes in at this point.) Ian rattles off some spots from his childhood in The Haight—places like Gus's before it was known as Gus's, an Ethiopian restaurant, and a musical instrument store. In high school, Ian got into visual arts and playing sports—mainly baseball and basketball. By the time he got to college, he played baseball "at a high level," and art fell more or less by the wayside. More on that in Part 2. But during high school, though he took art classes, sports dominated his life. We end Part 1 with Ian rattling off the San Francisco schools he went to. He did a stint at College of San Mateo (CSM) before getting into UC Berkeley, which was the first time he lived outside his childhood home. In the early days of TMNT comics, the creators published four separate one-issue "micro-series" for each of the four turtles. Basically one-shot stories for each one. We reviewed the Raphael one-shot a bit earlier in this season. This episode we take a look at the stories for Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo. In general we liked these just a bit more than the "regular" issues the creators were doing at the same time. These one-shots are simple and uncluttered and really fun. For Loose Screws, Kevin talks Peacemaker season 2 and what it's like to be out of sync with the opinions presented on social media. Will talks about the video game Baby Steps.

We are up to issue 9 of the original run of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comics. This is a stand-alone adventure in which the young turtled and splinter help an old man pass on the honoable samurai magic of his family to his grandson. We are seeing Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird pull back from working on the comic. This issue they wrote and helped ink but did not do the pencils for. As the Turtles get more popular, this will be the pattern! David Forman  David Forman is a stunt performer, stunt coordinator, and actor known for his role as Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and his ongoing list of stunt work. His credits range from James Bond films to Star Wars. Recent works include A Quiet Place: Day One, Andor, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and F9: The Fast Saga. (Sadly, David had to cancel his appearance this year) Leif Tilden Leif Tilden is from Boston, Massachusetts and left for NYC to study at NYU at Tisch School of the Arts where he studied Experimental Theatre, Dance and film. He has worked on several projects with the Jim Henson Company such as the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' 1 & 2 (‘DONATELLO), and the TV series ‘Dinosaurs' (ROBBIE SINCLAIR). His other character credits include ‘Ace Ventura 2', ‘George of the Jungle', ‘Born to be Wild' and ‘Buddy' – playing a Gorilla in all four. Often referred to as, “That guy,” Josh has acted in over a hundred movies and TV shows. He is known for his many recurring TV roles including Showtimes' Ray Donovan as Stu Feldman, Netflix's Maniac, Younger, Law and Order as Hank Abraham, as well as such shows as High Maintenance, The Good Wife, Damages, Star Trek Deep: Space Nine, The Sopranos, and early on as the Modelizer on Sex and The City. Built in the 14th century, the Museum of Orsanmichele was originally a grain market, but later turned into a church.  The museum is housed inside of this church and includes a beautiful “Madonna and Child by Bernardo Daddi and a magnificent Gothic “Tabernacle” by Orcagna on the ground floor, as well as many sculptural masterpieces by Donatello, Ghiberti, Verrocchio, and Giambologna on the first floor.  The upper-most floor of the museum offers breathtaking 360° views of the surrounding city of Florence.

Today it houses one of the world's greatest collections of Renaissance sculpture, including works by Donatello, Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, Verrocchio, Michelangelo, Giambologna, and Bernini.

While looking for a way to escape the Apocalypse World, Jack and Mary find help in that world's Bobby, but he does not take kind to the fact that Jack is an angel.
