Kasamahan Co, formerly know Reclaiming Filipinx Identity, is a media company based out of Hawaii, that started back in 2020. They use multiple platforms including their podcast, Instagram, and YouTube to hold space for Filipinx stories of those in Hawaii. I had the privilege of getting to talk with the CEO, Chachie, to talk about what Kasamahan Co. has been up. Fun fact, Chachie was actually on one of the first episodes of the Pilipinx-American Stories Podcast. This episode serves as point of reflection for the media company in terms of its growth and the future. Currently, they are taking a break, but will be back in due time. Till then, you can catch all their content of on @kasamahanco on Instagram. Make sure to peep the link in their bio to check out their blog, podcast, and all the wonderful things they've created. Shout out to Chachie for taking the time to reflect with us!
Welcome to the first episode of U.B.E Chats! We wanted to get right in and introduce the minds behind the podcast and share the reasonings behind our capstone project/passion project. For those of you who may not know, both creators are affiliated with EPYC which stands for Empowering Pilipinx Youth for Collaboration and this is under NAFFAA, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations and for this organization we are both ambassadors for specific region of the world. This episode you will hear the perspective of Chachie who is an ambassador for the Pacific Island region and is actually the first Hawai'i ambassador! (crazy....right?!) but in particular, the reason behind the building of this passion project is through her advocacy of mental health within Pilipinx youth specifically allowing the youth in her community to be open in seeking resources especially being able to recognize mental health as a priority similar to our physical health. - She graduated last year in December 2020 at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa with a BA in Psychology and Ilokano studies. She aspires to someday be an educator teaching Ilokano language and culture to high school, and at the college level while also being a mental health advocate to high school students and her community. - Chachie's top 3 self care activities to ground herself would have to be journaling, writing stories and reading! But she enjoys taking those gallivanting adventures whether it is taking a spontaneous trip in a museum or just sitting still and attempting to reconnect with nature. She's a huge empath and a cancer moon so reflecting is basically embedded within her. - Please remember to rate, review, follow and subscribe on Apple Podcast, Itunes, AnchorFm and if you want to reach out to us with feedback, questions or just want to connect feel free to follow us on instagram! @ubechats and email us for collaboration: ubechats@gmail.com - Credits: Intro Music: Jereena Montemayor, "Filipina Girls" Outro Music: Tatiana Manaois, "Beauty Sings" --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ube-chats/message

A second generation Filipino American, Born and raised in Hawaii, Kenny is someone who aspires to become an educator and to teach the next generation what it means to show who you are as a Filipino and to embrace his own cultural identity for those who have yet to come. In this interview, Chachie was able to get to know Kenny and understand his cultural values, family upbringing and his thoughts about our community. If I can share what he told me during the interview it is, "Learn where you from and your negative stereotypes, Understanding where people’s perspective and dont be afraid to be Creative our own narratives." Bride Time LIVE - Dr. June Knight Interview with John Miles - Apostolic Remnant Ministry & PULSE Realtor Referral Network- Charlotte, North Carolina 09/24/18 - Dr. June interviewed John about his life story & ministry. About John: I am very devoted to my faith and to my family. I have been blessed with an awesome wife, Gennelle, and six beautiful and amazing children: Alyssa, Alana, Aleah, John aka Bacon, William aka Chachie, and Alyjah aka Wallie aka Prince Wallie. My three daughters are a gospel singing sensation known as Miles-Tone and their harmony is so natural, and their beauty extends from sight to sound. Last year, we launched out, leaving the Capital District of New York after spending our whole life there. We felt "pregnant" and led to move to a place where we could give birth to all that had been deposited into our lives, and seek opportunities where we could make a difference in the lives of others. While visiting my wife's aunt in Charlotte during the summer of 2015, I accepted a teaching position at West Charlotte high school on a Thursday. On Friday, we traveled back to NY, packed up our apartment on Saturday and Sunday, and we were back on the road in a Uhaul truck and minivan with five children on Monday. A songwriter once said, "We come this far by faith" and that is our testimony. We moved away from loving family and friends and a great church home, therefore our expectations are nothing but the absolute best...from great to greater. So here is the next milestone, beginning a career in real estate that we trust and believe will open doors to awesome opportunities for our family, and that will allow our family to be a blessing to others. I am excited to learn, grow, and produce; and so grateful for the opportunity to assist and serve you in fulfilling all of your real estate needs!
