SPOILER ALERT Rhaenyra has the throne, but King's Landing has rats, unpaid guards, murdered gold cloaks, graffiti problems, rogue dragons, and one very tense small council. This week on Thumb War, we're breaking down House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 5: Unbowed and Unbent, aka the episode where nobody relents, nobody listens, and Daemon being right is somehow the most annoying development of all. We get into Criston Cole's guerrilla warfare era, Alice Rivers' Harrenhal magic, the black goat/Vhagar conspiracy, Aemond's haunted mommy issues, Alicent chugging the lie, Helaena standing up for herself, Larys absolutely roasting Aegon into self-reflection, and Rhaenyra's deeply chaotic approach to leadership. Also: cats, rats, Baby Bjorns, tap-on delivery, Queen of the Bastards, and municipal payroll crises. Full spoiler recap is up now. #houseofthedragon #gameofthronesuniverse Chaos continues in King's Landing as threats and opposition to Rhaenyra's reign continue to grow. Daemon's trip to the Vale results in more than collecting gold from Lady Arryn. Corlys shifts some of his responsibilities in order to put distance between himself and the Queen. The Hightower host in Tumbleton causes tension and places a particular family in harm's way. Aegon's pride continues to place him and Larys in unnecessary danger. Ormund makes a bold declaration regarding the Throne.
House of the Dragon ends on its most brutal image yet — Chanel, Sharmane and Brandon recap an episode where the walls literally close in.
Episode 5, "Unbowed and Unbent," just turned House of the Dragon into a horror movie, and Justin and Greg are still processing the blood on that wall. This is the one where the Blacks' paranoia gets fully justified — and the body count says the worst is still ahead.
To paraphrase Lord Ormund Hightower, "one host is as good as another". Bankole subs in for Ebube this week to discuss another in a growing line of excellent 'House of the Dragon' episodes. Criston Cole is on suicide watch, Rhaenyra and Daemon need both marriage counseling and leadership training and Aegon has forgotten that his most athletic days are behind him. Once in a while it's nice to take a break from wall balls. Bryan of House Darling and Matt B. Davis break down all the amazing action, death, betrayals, and more from Season 3. Episode 4 of House Of The Dragon. AKA HotD.They talk Sheepstealer and Rhaena, Daemon's unexpected dad moment, Aegon's possible redemption arc, Ormund Hightower, Rhaenyra rebuilding her small council, a simple solution to a rat problem, and why the show is starting to make both sides of the Dance more complicated.
As we reach the mid-point of Season 3 of House of the Dragon, the plot has thickened across multiple fronts. Ormund Hightower has seized control of Tumbleton. As Rhaenyra weighs her options, Aegon's journey hits rock bottom, Cole decides to fight on without the aid of any dragons, Daeron wrestles with being a Targaryen molded through Hightower upbringing, Daemon makes a stunning discovery (as well as a massive decision), and Alicent makes a shocking discovery of her own. All of it has the potential to make the back half of Season 3 even more explosive than the first half was...and that is saying something. SPOILER WARNING Aegon has gone from the Iron Throne to the latrine. This week on Thumb War, we're breaking down House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 4, where Ormond Hightower takes over Tumbleton from a bathtub, sniffs his perfume ball, flashes the room, and apparently starts setting up a holy war against the Targaryens. Meanwhile, Aegon and Larys stumble upon Sunfire — who may or may not be dead — before Aegon gets assigned the worst job in Westeros: scraping shit out of latrines with a guy named Tangled Tongue. We also get into Rhaenyra's very tiny council, Allyn's “what about cats?” promotion, Ulf trying to cash in favors for his drinking buddies, Daemon finding Rhaena and Sheepstealer, Hugh's family being trapped in Tumbleton, and why Aegon might somehow be the most qualified ruler left. Ormund Hightower's real endgame finally lands, Aegon has the worst week of anyone in Westeros, and Daemon covers up the truth about Rhaena with a lie that won't hold. Tim and Mike break down House of the Dragon S3E4 "Tumbleton" — including Tim's long-overdue rant about how the show is mispronouncing Daeron's name.
Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
It's a coming out party for Prince Daeron, because a Blue Queen needs a Green King. Rhaenyra channels Sun Tzu, trying to know her enemy, Lord Ormund. Daemon can't seem to go to the Vale without murdering someone, spars with the new master of coin, and continues to do so with Mysaria. Aegon finds Sunfyre whom he believes must be alive, and Meleys, who definitely is not. Helaena bumps into a quickly growing situation.Vote for Us in the Hugo Awards for Best Related Work - lacon.org/register/Shirts - historyofwesteros.threadless.comHoW Audience Survey - bit.ly/howsurveyBonus Eps & More - patreon.com/historyofwesteroswww.historyofwesteros.comIntro/Maps - klaradox.deFacebook Group - bit.ly/howfbDiscord - bit.ly/howdiscord

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Brewstilled, I'm recapping HBO's House of the Dragon season 3 episode 3. For episode 3, Rhaenyra begins her rule at Kings Landing, but her expectations are not her reality. For episode 3, we see Rhaenyra navigate a new world as her new reign in Kings Landing is getting a mixed reaction. She also wants a coronation, but the absence of Aegon is a road block. We see her try to make her way in Kings Landing, but in the universe of Game of Thrones, Rhaenyra finds out it's not that simple. I'll discuss it here on Brewstilled with a German style Pilsner from Old Thunder Brewing as the beer pairing.
#houseofthedragon #gameofthronesuniverse Rhaenyra's reign as Queen begins awash in dilemmas and deficiencies as she realizes how Aegon's rule and defection have caused King's Landing to suffer. Corlys reacts in anger when a request is not given the attention he desires. Daemon's handling of the Hightower host (led by Ormund) has extreme consequences. Rhaenyra seeks counsel from an unlikely source, and is disturbed by the advise she received.
In this episode of the Ecomm Breakthrough podcast, host Josh Hadley shares his strategic framework for approaching major sales events like Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Rather than chasing short-term profits, Josh advocates using these events for customer acquisition through aggressive discounts on front-end products. Using Athletic Greens (AG1) as a prime example, he illustrates how maintaining a cohesive brand promise drives long-term success. Josh also emphasizes the importance of the 3:1 lifetime value to customer acquisition cost ratio as the key metric for sustainable e-commerce growth.Bullet Points:Strategic approach to major sales events (Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday)Importance of customer acquisition over short-term profitsUse of aggressive discounts on front-end products to attract new customersCase study of Athletic Greens (AG1) as a successful brand exampleFocus on maintaining a cohesive brand identity and promiseEmphasis on understanding and optimizing customer lifetime value (LTV)Recommended LTV to customer acquisition cost (CAC) ratio for scalable growthImportance of thoughtful product packaging and messaging for customer engagementCaution against short-term gimmicks that can damage brand trustStrategies for using sales events to clear excess inventory and enhance brand equityTimestamps:00:00:00 Approaching Major Sales EventsThe host discusses different strategies for sales events like Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday for e-commerce brands.00:00:52 Introduction to the HostJosh Hadley introduces himself, his e-commerce experience, and the focus of the podcast on building a true brand.00:01:48 Defining a Real BrandA real brand sells a promise to a customer, not just products. Should I be aggressive giving out a bunch of discounts? Should I turn off my PPC campaigns and just maximize profitability? Should I actually increase my prices and not decrease them? So I just ride the high of all the traffic that's going to Amazon? Well, today I'm going to be diving into how I'm going to be approaching Prime Day moving forward. And this also includes Black Friday, Cyber Monday as well. Welcome to the Econ Breakthrough podcast I'm Josh Hadley. I've scaled my own ecommerce brand from 0 to 8 figures, and I'm actively building towards nine figures in sales. This podcast is where I document that journey and share the systems, the strategies, and the lessons learned in real time so that you can learn what actually matters and scale your own business. Who am I? My name is Josh Hadley. First and foremost, I'm a man of faith. I'm a husband to a beautiful wife and the father of four children.Josh Hadley 00:00:52 I've been selling in the e-commerce space for over a decade, doing over $20 million in annual revenue, doing multi-millionaire on other sales channels such as Amazon, TikTok, Shop and Shopify, and also the host of the number one e-commerce podcast for business strategy. And that is Ecomm breakthrough. Today, I want to share with you our mindset of how we're approaching Prime Days moving forward. This also includes how we're going to be approaching, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and what some of the best brands out there in the e-commerce space are doing. I think that this is game changing because this kind of piggybacks off of what I've talked about in the past, which is, are you actually building a true brand, or are you just trying to sell products on Amazon, or are you just a product brand that's just slapping their brand name on a bunch of different random products that don't have a whole lot of cohesion? If that's the case, you probably don't want to listen to the rest of this podcast episode because it's not going to be relevant for you.Josh Hadley 00:01:48 This is going to be for those sellers that are actually trying to build a real brand. And what does a real brand mean? It means you're not just selling products, it means you're selling a promise to a customer, and then you're actually able to deliver on that promise to a customer. Now, one of the best examples that I want to dive into is aji one. And aji one does an excellent job of this on Amazon because they know exactly who they are as a brand. You don't just see Aegon all of a sudden coming out with, hey, now they're selling socks. Aegon supplements is not coming out with, you know, iPad covers or cell phone cases or anything like that. They're not an opportunistic, you know, product business. Instead, they are actually a brand trying to serve a very specific target market and customer delivering on the promise of, hey, if you come to us, we will provide you with the fastest, easiest way to get all of your vitamins and minerals in a very efficient way so that you are living your best life, that you are living, you know, in an optimal health environment.Josh Hadley 00:02:52 Okay. That's their brand promise. Now, are they actually able to deliver on this promise. And so ultimately, I share with you this example because this is what's going to be kind of set the foundation for why you're going to execute prime days and all of the big deal days like Black Friday, Cyber Monday in a new framework. So with AG one, one of the things that they do knowing their brand promise is how do I introduce people to our products to let them know, hey, they're tasty, they're easy, they're convenient, and hopefully you feel better while you use these. That's their brand promise. Okay, so how do they do that? Well, they have a seven day starter kit that they sell on Amazon. Now. They also sell some of their other SKUs on Amazon as well. But one of their key things and I just pulled it up. They're doing over 2000 units a month just on their one supplement, ...

“Queen's Landing” was meant to be the finale of season 2 and it really felt like it! We have a lot to say about the many parallels, the off-screen events and how Rhaenyra's arc will shift massively, creating a cascade of new plots and conflicts. Aemond's move might be just as huge, as he's met one of the most interesting characters in the show just as he's lost the throne. Rhaena and Aegon are on the run from their own kin, the Velaryons are scattered, but new armies are forming as fast as new ambitions.
