Radical acceptance for homeschool moms starts with a hard question: what if the hardest part of your homeschool season isn’t actually the hard thing you’re facing? What if part of what’s exhausting you is the energy you’re spending fighting against the fact that it’s happening at all? Your child is struggling with something. Your teenager is launching into the world, and you’re not quite ready for how that feels. A quiet worry sits underneath it all: am I doing enough? Behind that struggle is usually a quiet belief: if I could just fix this, then I could finally breathe. If my child would just catch up to grade level. If only my homeschool would feel more successful. Maybe my husband or mom would finally understand. I wish I knew for sure the choices I’m making today would benefit my kids. If just one person would tell me I’m doing okay. Then maybe I could relax. Why We Can’t Just Relax But what if peace isn’t something that shows up after everything gets resolved? What if peace begins the moment we stop abandoning ourselves in the middle of what’s still unresolved? The Trance of ‘Not Enough’ (And Why Radical Acceptance for Homeschool Moms Matters) Tara Brach calls it “the trance of unworthiness” — the quiet, background belief that we’re not enough. Not patient enough, not organized enough, not spiritual enough, not calm enough. It’s a trance because we rarely notice we’re inside it. We just keep moving, comparing, researching, and looking for reassurance. Sound familiar? You make a homeschool decision — and then immediately Google whether it was the right one. You choose not to push your child through something, and wonder if you’re being too permissive. Or you do push, and worry you’ve damaged the relationship. There’s no decision that doesn’t seem to land you on trial in your own head. Underneath it all is one question: Can I trust myself without someone else confirming I’m right? If that trance feels familiar, it’s often rooted somewhere deeper — we talk more about that in Healing the Mother Wound for Homeschool Moms. What Radical Acceptance for Homeschool Moms Actually Means Radical acceptance doesn’t mean liking what’s happening, giving up, or becoming passive about harmful circumstances. It starts much simpler than that. It says: this is what’s happening right now. My child is struggling. I am overwhelmed. I don’t know what to do. The radical part isn’t the situation — it’s what we don’t add on top of it. Instead of layering judgment (“I should be handling this better,” “What’s wrong with me?”), we pause and simply acknowledge reality. There’s the pain of what’s happening. And then there’s the extra suffering we create by fighting the fact that it’s happening — and homeschool moms are remarkably good at generating that second layer. Two Wings: Clear Seeing and Compassion Tara Brach describes radical acceptance as needing two wings to fly: clear seeing and compassion. Clear seeing without compassion turns into self-criticism (“I always overcommit, I’m terrible at boundaries, why can’t I get it together?”). Compassion without clarity turns into avoidance (“Everything’s fine!” — when maybe something really does need to change). Together, they shift the questions we ask ourselves: Instead of What’s wrong with me? → What is happening here? Instead of Why can’t I handle this? → What is this experience asking me to notice? And instead of I need to fix myself. → What do I need right now? The Productivity Trance So many of us learned, early and often, that our worth is tied to output. Homeschooling can quietly become another productivity machine: Did we finish the workbook? How many pages? Are we ahead or behind? But what if the most important thing that happened today can’t be measured? What if presence was enough? That’s easier to believe on a podcast than on a Thursday afternoon when the checklist is half-done. Which is exactly why it’s worth asking: Where did I learn that today only counts if I produced enough? Is it true? And the harder question — what would happen if I stopped trying to earn my worth through productivity? After years of building life around the rhythms of children — lessons, meals, car rides, celebrations — the season is changing, and there’s a choice in how to meet it: fight reality, or let both things be true at once. This is beautiful. And this hurts. Pride in the young man he’s becoming, and grief for the little boy who no longer needs help spelling words (and now wins at Bananagrams instead). Homeschooling can become such a central part of a mother’s identity — organizer, facilitator, researcher, driver, worrier, celebrator — that when the season shifts, something in us shifts too. That identity shift is its own kind of grief worth naming — I explore it more in my identity as a home educator. Radical acceptance doesn’t say don’t grieve. It just stops making the grief itself a problem. A RAIN Practice for Radical Acceptance for Homeschool Moms When you’re in the thick of a hard homeschool moment, Tara Brach’s RAIN practice offers a simple way back to yourself: R — Recognize What is actually happening right now? Not what might happen — what’s here. A — Allow Can this moment be here, just for now? Not forever — just without the fight. I — Investigate Get curious. Is this about today, or is something older being activated? Is it uncertainty, grief, exhaustion, or an unvoiced need? N — Nurture What do I actually need right now? A break. Help. Food. A reminder that one hard day doesn’t define an entire education. Are you able to trust yourself even when not everyone agrees? What would it take to voice a need before you know how it’ll be received? (Voicing a need is often the first boundary — here’s how to start: Practical (& useful) steps to boundaries in your homeschool.) Could you have a hard homeschool day without turning it into a verdict on your motherhood? Is it possible to look at your child — and at yourself — with clear eyes and compassion, instead of through someone else’s checklist? Maybe what we’re really resisting isn’t the messy day or the uncertain season. Maybe it’s the possibility that we could stop striving long enough to simply be — not the ideal, fully-cooperating, everything-folded-correctly version of homeschool life, but this one. The real one. That might be the most radical thing we can do. When I started my business, I wanted to create spaces where every single person felt seen, heard, and like they truly belonged . It sounds so beautifully simple on the surface, doesn't it? But as we all know, making sure people feel heard at work can get incredibly messy . This week, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with a peer of mine from grad school, Daniel Newton, an Associate Professor at the University of Iowa, whose research on workplace engagement is quite literally out of this world . He's spent years studying how people speak up and stay engaged, working with everyone from corporate teams to actual astronauts aboard the International Space Station . Now, I always say that if an astronaut floating in zero gravity can feel ignored by Mission Control, it's okay if your team is struggling to communicate during shift changes ! Daniel and I shared some great laughs about the black box of office suggestion boxes (which usually just collect dust and some very chaotic notes) and how we can all become better allies by lifting each other's ideas .  Key Themes from the Conversation Even Astronauts Struggle to Feel Heard. Feeling heard requires more than just listening. Speaking up requires responsive action or transparent feedback . When leaders or institutions fail to act, it creates a sense of being ignored, even in high-stakes environments like space exploration . "I worked with an astronaut that literally shared an idea with Mission Control and they didn't do anything, so he had to say it again, and then again. Even people that train for years and years, and have the complete trust of NASA, even they don't feel heard in their work sometimes." – Daniel Newton The Power of the Newcomer Perspective. People often hesitate to speak up because they are new, young, or feel like an imposter . However, fresh eyes bring the highest level of creative disruption and innovation to long-standing, status-quo systems . "The newcomer perspective is really valuable because you're gonna see things differently. And so we may hesitate to speak up because we feel like we're too new." – Daniel Newton Problems Drive Action, While Ideas Risk the Back Burner. Voicing workplace problems creates an immediate sense of urgency that forces management to respond and implement solutions quickly . The paradox is that while problems get fixed, proactive and creative new ideas are often pushed aside . "Creating urgency means that managers respond faster, and the company is more likely to implement and resolve those problems. But the downside of that potentially could be that new, yet important ideas get put on the back burner." – Daniel Newton AI as a Useful Sounding Board, Not a Human Replacement. Artificial intelligence serves as a fantastic, low-stakes rehearsal partner to build confidence before pitching ideas . While AI excels at optimizing usefulness and efficiency, human input remains essential for true originality and novel thinking . "AI-generated ideas were really good with the usefulness component. But the humans were really good at the originality component. If we're generating new ideas, we need the human in the loop." – Daniel Newton The Power of Indirect Framing (The "Midwest Nice" Strategy). For those who struggle to be blunt, framing an idea or problem as a collaborative question lowers defensiveness in dominant leaders and invites them into the solution rather than putting them on the defensive . "Have we thought about X? Or might we consider doing this? Being indirect, asking or speaking up in the form of a question is helpful because it didn't put leaders on the spot. They don't feel as  threatened." – Daniel Newton One Actionable Takeaway To help an idea land successfully with a dominant supervisor or to ease your own anxiety about speaking up, frame your insight as a question (e.g., "I wonder if we might consider..." or "Have we looked at...") rather than a direct mandate . This invites collaboration, lowers leadership defensiveness, and creates an immediate open door for your perspective to be heard .

(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Preacher found dead in Russian prison A blogger and preacher, known to the internet as Vegan Christ-Lover of God, died this month while in Russian custody. Khristolyub Bozhiy ran a blog and YouTube channel where he spoke about religion, veganism, and his advocacy of peace related to Russia's ongoing war on Ukraine, reports International Christian Concern. The 43-year-old blogger described himself as a Christian activist, pacifist, and preacher who spoke against Islam Russian officials began their investigations in November 2023. In February 2025, a regional court sentenced Bozhiy to three years in a colony-settlement for offending Muslims,  In early April, Bozhiy was moved to a pre-trial detention center and was immediately placed in an isolated cell.  Earlier this month, he reported, “I was given five days in solitary as soon as I arrived. Then another 15, for nothing at all.”  On April 17th, Bozhiy's father learned that his son had died, but was not told the cause of his death until he was summoned to collect his son's body on April 20th. That day, when he arrived at the investigator's office, he was told that his son had been found hanging in an isolated cell. Bozhiy's relatives do not believe his death was a suicide. In his final protest, Bozhiy held a sign that read, “Jesus commanded to love enemies, not to kill, for God is love. Murderers do not inherit the Kingdom of God.”  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu treated for prostate cancer Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that he recently underwent treatment for prostate cancer, and kept it quiet for fear that it would be used by Iran for propaganda, reports One America News. He had three core messages to share with the public: “Thank God, I am healthy.” “I am in excellent physical condition.” “I had a minor medical issue with my prostate that was completely treated. Thank God, it's behind me.” 3 John 2:2 says, “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” 9 in 10 British Evangelicals prepared to share faith with atheists Only 2% of evangelical British Christians have faced ‘sanctions' for talking about their Christian faith at work, while 4% feel they have missed out on the chance of a promotion or other better job opportunities because of their Christian faith, reports Evangelical Focus. A survey commissioned by the Evangelical Alliance United Kingdom shows that most Evangelicals have a positive experience in their workplace. Although one in ten say they have received criticism in the United Kingdom for talking about their Christian faith and just over two in ten are “hesitant to talk about my Christian faith”, 40% of believers say that their Christian faith has “positively helped me in my workplace.” Almost 9 in 10 Evangelicals feel “equipped” to share their faith with atheists (86%) compared to 14% who do not. The response is virtually the same when asked about conversations with agnostics. And two-thirds of Evangelical respondents feel prepared to discuss their faith with Muslims (67%) and 79% with Jews. 1 Peter 3:15 says, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” Trump's fiscal folly On April 3rd, President Trump released his proposed Fiscal 2027 Budget. Strikingly, Trump proposed to increase defense spending by over 40% and cut non-defense discretionary spending by about 10%, reports Fortune Magazine. Yet, even after slashing everything from environmental protection and scientific research to housing and small-business support, government spending will surge, the deficit will balloon, and the ratio of debt held by the public to the Gross Domestic Product will climb to peacetime highs and remain above 100%. Overall, the Trump administration's proposed budget is an extension of what has become, particularly during the last three administrations, fiscal folly. Steve Hanke, a professor of applied economics at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, wrote, “A significant chunk of today's government expenditures are financed by putting future generations in bondage and saddling them with the costs. This is irresponsible, inequitable, and immoral. Fiscal deficits are nothing more than deferred taxes that will be paid by those who aren't even voting today, as well as many who are yet to be born.” Public school allows profane anti-ICE protest, suspends pro-ICE student On February 6, hundreds of students at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, California peacefully staged a mid-school-day walkout to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They held posters that read “ICE is KKK spelled differently” as well as others with profane language. Yet, two weeks later, Torrey Pines High School suspended a student for posting pro-ICE flyers reading, “We love I.C.E. – Real Americans.” The school claimed the flyers, which caused no disruption at the school — and were displayed in a common area where other students have posted political material — nevertheless constituted “harassment” and “intimidation.”  After intervention by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, a California school district expunged its suspension of a high school junior for putting up a pro-ICE poster. Senior Attorney Conor Fitzpatrick said, “School administrators can't pick and choose which opinions students are allowed to express. Voicing an opinion which makes others upset is not ‘harassment' or ‘intimidation,' it is American democracy in action.” Which U.S. president had 15 children? And finally, in 1789, George Washington became the first president of the United States. Since then, 44 other men have served as Commander-in-Chief, each leaving a political legacy to be analyzed and judged in the course of time. But their legacies are not only political — they're also familial, reports HistoryFacts. The number of children each president had is often overlooked, but on a personal level, few things could be more important. And in two cases, presidential children — John Quincy Adams and George W. Bush — went on to become presidents themselves, combining the familial with the political.    Five presidents fathered no known biological children. In some cases, this was likely due to infertility caused by medical issues, such as the tuberculosis infection George Washington suffered before he was married. James Buchanan, meanwhile, remains the only U.S. president who never married.  One president stands head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to procreating: John Tyler fathered 15 children across two marriages. Another notable figure is Thomas Jefferson, who had six children with his wife of 10 years, Martha Jefferson, and allegedly fathered six others with his slave named Sally Hemings. The other presidents in the top five include: James A. Garfield, who had 7 children, Rutherford B. Hayes, who had 8 children, and William Henry Harrison, who had 10 children. She went on to become a prominent figure in the Winnipeg and later Montreal and Toronto radio markets. Over 50 environmental groups and almost 500 individuals has signed an open letter to the Minister for the Environment expressing their opposition to an LNG terminal in Clare. Gas Networks Ireland announced plans last month for a strategic gas emergency reserve at Cahiracon on the Shannon Estuary, with the development expected to create up to 400 jobs during construction and roughly 50 while operational. Futureproof Clare has initiated an open letter to Minister Darragh O'Brien calling for the plans to be abandoned and so far, 55 groups, 491 individuals and nine political representatives have lent their support. Ennis-based Futureproof Clare spokespeson Emanuela Ferrari doesn't believe Ireland's gas supply is as vulnerable as the Government makes out.
