Whether you listen to The Link in your car via podcast or in your living room on YouTube, it's an online forum. Today online is where the next generation [and many of us now] engages with the world around us. It's where we find answers to our questions, a place to talk about tough and relevant topics. So, how can we engage this area with the Gospel? On this episode of The Link, Pastor Chris sits down in the studio - all the way from Australia - with author and pastor Dave Adamson to discuss how we can leverage the digital space to help bring the Gospel to those outside of our church walls. Since 2016 I have been highlighting 6 people you, as ministers, should follow on Social media. They are people/groups I've learned a lot from. You can find the previous years here: 2016, 2017 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. While 2021 was challenging, the reality is, if you were following any of the digital ministers I have shared about in the past, you would have gotten a lot of great encouragement and help. Now that we are into 2022 and now I have 6 new ones to follow. As in years past, the criteria that I have is that they are involved in Church Communications, Social Media, Student or Family Ministry or Online Ministry. They also need to be producing great content on a consistent basis. And that's it. It's pretty simple but those are the two important aspects of my criteria. So, in NO particular order, here are the top 6 to seek out in 2021: Tyler Volkers. Tyler is the Online Campus Pastor at The Ridge Community Church. I met him through Jeff Reed at the beginning of the pandemic. I've had him on the podcast before and he provides great encouragement and ministry insights. Angela Craig. Angela started Pursuit Church Live, the first social media church in the Assemblies of God fellowship years before the pandemic hit. She was on the forefront of online ministry. She blogs regularly at AngelalCraig.com, leads a great Facebook Group. Church Juice. This is a great resource for Church Communicators. They offer blogs, resources and a great podcast with Bryan Haley and Jeannette Yates. The two have many years experience and offer great ideas in a short amount of time for your Church. Altar Live. Founded during the Pandemic, Altar Live helps faith communities engage people in authentic relationship. I like to think of them as a combination of Zoom and the Church Online Platform. Check them out here. Robert Carnes. Robert has been on my podcast numerous times and has great marketing insights. He also has a fantastic book called The Original Storyteller. VR Leaders. VR, Meta, Augmented Reality are going to be big in 2022. This is going to be the year of virtual reality and the metaverse. So, start following people like Jason Poling, PastorBrock, Theo Davis, Pastor Souzy, DJ Soto, Jate Earhart, and others to start and what they are doing.

The pandemic has created a new hybrid church model of a physical church and online digital church experience. In this interview, Phil Cooke https://philcooke.com talks with Jonathan Meisner, Sr. Director of Digital Experiences at Life.Church about building an online community in today's digital age. Topics covered include building trust online, creating personal connections through live chat, ministry team collaboration, volunteer development, storytelling through inspirational videos, camera setup for live streaming and more. He's passionate about discovering ways the church can inspire people towards action through engaging content and captivating experiences. When he's not serving the church, you'll likely find him spending time with his wife, Michelle, and their two boys, Truett and Axell, or trying to stay young at his local CrossFit gym. Follow Jonathan: https://instagram.com/jonathanmeisner https://facebook.com/jonathanmeisner Here's some quick takeaways from today's episode: -Hybrid church: It's not physical or digital, it's hybrid. It's people engaging in both spaces. -Story is what connects people and helps a story land in a person's heart. -Consistency over time is what yields results. -There's not a cookie-cutter way to do this [online church]. It all comes back to authenticity and connection. -It's tough to do ministry without relationship. The personal connection is incredibly important to Life.Church. -We don't recruit volunteers; we release leaders. -Be okay with leaning into the mentality of adapting to the new digital space… But always work to get people connected to the local church. -When God calls us to something, we've got to be all in. -We are constantly learning. Assume that posture of learning. Be open to where God's leading… when you sense the Holy Spirit moving, pour gasoline on that fire. Lean into it because there's something really special on the other side.
The big question we’re going to wrestle through on this episode is this: What could healthy team culture look like moving forward? In a season where it seems like everything has changed, some things remain constant - and the need for healthy team culture is undoubtedly at the top of that list. Today we’re going to talk to a team I highly respect in so many ways — the Life.Church team, under the leadership of Craig Groeschel has grown to be one of the most influential churches in the world. But what I appreciate so much is WHY they have gained influence. Their approach to ministry, commitment to health, and generous heart have won them my respect. We have two segments for you today with this team, and I’m so excited for you to hear from them… Part 1 is with Kyle Kutter. Kyle is the Central Group Leader of Digital Technology. If you are familiar with Open Network, Church Online Platform, Church Metrics, or Develop.me, Kyle has had his hands on them all (also, if you’re not familiar with them, I cannot recommend all of these enough). Here is some of what we talk about: Talk to us a bit about Open Network and your church’s heart to resource the “big C” church. What do you see about the church that is recalibrating right now? From a church that has pioneered digital gatherings for churches, is there still a place for physical gatherings? What lessons should we take with us coming out of this season? What about the local church has given you hope? For the second part of our episode today, we focus on their team culture and what makes their team so special. Both members of part two have been at Life.Church for over 10 years and that kind of longevity cannot be bought or shortcut to. Rachel Ricker is the Central Group Ministry Leader for Host Team. Sam Marin is the campus pastor for Edmond, OK, which is the broadcast location. Here’s where our conversation leads us: What do you feel is most special about your house and the culture of it? And what do you hope people remember about your church? What is so special about the culture of your team? What is the difference in carrying culture at a broadcast location vs. a remote location? What do you tell yourself when feedback is coming your way? What does being a culture carrier mean to you? Is there a time where you got it wrong with being a culture carrier? I was so excited to get a chance to sit down with this group of leaders from one of the most influential churches globally and have also had such a profound impact on my own life. Well, church, we survived. Coronavirus took its shot at us, and we made it. We survived. We figured out how to stream the service. How awesome. We did it! Wait, so it's not just one week? We have to do this again? Two weeks? Three? August? Are you kidding me?!?! Church, we survived. Church Appreciation Sunday is a fact. Church Online Platform reports over 10,000 new accounts created. Countless more of you streamed on Facebook and other social media. Congratulations. Remember there's more to church than this one hour on Sunday? In this coronavirus season, what are we doing for discipleship? How is your church keeping people on mission? Streaming is a necessary piece, but it's just a piece.
