If you're a normal maker, then you likely feel a rollercoaster of emotions while making something. Have you ever thought about why that is? It has a lot to do with the mindset that we bring to the sewing table. I wanted to dig into the mentality of a maker. The good, the bad, the hilarious, tumultuous, infuriating, and the peaceful. Digging into the mindset is where our guest comes in. As a Youtuber, maker, designer, tattoo artist, digital artist, bike builder, (and a lot more) Dustin Klein knows ALL about the mental swings of a project. Think of him as the Portland-inspired DIY Yoda to your Skywalker. 21 episodes, 9 guests, and too many cups of coffee to even count. As 2022 draws to a close, I thought a quick look back at the first two seasons of guests was in order. I had some great conversations and decided to pull some of my favorite clips for this year in review episode (for lack of a better description). If you listened to all of the guest episodes, I thank you. If you only listened to the solo episodes, here's a little taste of what you missed.I can't stress it enough but this show doesn't happen without interesting guests. And getting interesting guests to appear on a show with a small audience is a tall order. That being said, I wanna thank all of my guests for their time and their trust. And thank you for listening. Next week, Episode 023 is the last of the year and the perfect number episode to kick off the new year. It's almost as if I planned it!I'll be here. I hope you will too.Until then, be nice. Do good stuff. Support the show
In this episode, I talk about my guests, and why some solo episodes were the way they were. I answer a few listener questions and end with one of my favorite songs.14 weeks ago I was freaking out. We had been prepping for about a year and were about to go live with Episode 1. I had no idea what was going to happen. But the goal was simple. Make positive art and be in a different place at the end than I was at the beginning. As Rumi wrote, the path rarely appears until you start walking. We can always delay our transformation by telling ourselves things like I'm not ready, I don't have the right equipment, the right guests… But I believe ready is an illusion. You're never really ready. There will always be distractions and detours to test your commitment. But those tests aren't always about exposing your weakness, they can also expose strengths. Thank you for being here for Season 1. I hope you come back for Season 2 which begins on Wednesday, November 2. Please, if you like what you're hearing, leave a review at Apple Podcasts and get on the email list at themindunset.com for updates and news while we're ramping up to go for Season 2. Until that time, be nice and do good stuff. Support the show
Dustin Klein's youtube channel currently has around 65k subscribers and I just recently caught wind of it. It's always interesting to me when I channel can have that big of a following and even though 90% of the content I watch on YouTube is mountain bike related, somehow, the algorythm doesn't offer me his content. Let's find out together what Dustin's doing on his channel and how he's built the audience he has. ►Featured Links https://bit.ly/3v9FK4s ::: Dustin Klein YouTube Channel ►B1KER Bar Podcast https://bit.ly/b1apple ::: iTunes https://bit.ly/b1gplay ::: Google Play https://bit.ly/b1soundc ::: SoundCloud https://bit.ly/b1spotify ::: Spotify ►Support B1KER http://patreon.b1ker.com ::: Patreon http://donate.b1ker.com ::: Donate http://shop.b1ker.com ::: B1KER Shop ►B1KER Social Media https://www.instagram.com/b1kerb1/ https://www.facebook.com/b1kerb1/ https://www.twitter.com/b1kerb1/

From his early days as a bike messenger to a successful artist and content creator, Dustin Klein forged his way forward by doing whatever it took. These days, he's at the forefront of Portland's counter-culture art and cycling scenes. His YouTube channel, Everything's Been Done, has amassed over 65,000 dedicated subscribers who tune in every week.I spoke to Dustin about silencing the inner and outer critic and the challenges that come with balancing life and creating art in a world where people consume content like locusts. "The key to being good at something is, in the beginning, you have to want it so bad that you're okay with sucking at it." Our conversation covered food, fashion, art, photography and so much more. Dustin's a fascinating artist who tends to mix mediums within each piece he creates. His take is unique and refreshingly honest.
