Hello everyone!  We're going to hang around south of the border for just a while longer.  Episode Twenty Two was recorded in September in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, at the tail-end of a two week visit to Baja Sur.  Tim, Bryan, Matt, Mack, Andy, John, Pat, Shaun, Brandon and Jeni agreed to hang around the hotel for an hour or so, with the notion of having a round table discussion about herping in Mexico.  Cumulatively, this bunch has spent hundreds of days in Mexico, across many regions, and I thought it was an appropriate group to cover the subject.  Thanks to the media's focus on drug cartels, Mexico can seem like a scary place, and my goal with this round-table was to get folks more comfortable with the idea of visiting and herping there.  I can't wait until I get to go back! We may have talked at lot about tacos, but hey, they are pretty terrific in Baja California.  Thanks to the whole gang for sitting down and making it a fun conversation!  I needed two photos to get everyone included in the round-table (pay no attention to those Little Caesar's pizza boxes). FUTURE SHOW NOTE:   My request for herp jargon is coming to an end - the window closes in two weeks!  I’ve got a neat little pile, but I need more!  Get those pithy phrases and clever words to me via the show email below, and we’ll get a future episode together from the results! And as always, please keep the comments and suggestions coming!  The show email is somuchpingle@gmail.com, and there’s also a So Much Pingle group on Facebook, for discussion, comments, feedback, suggestions, herp confessions. shrimp taco recipes, tips for herping better, etc. Stay tuned for more episodes! And don’t forget to herp better! -Mike

Episode Twenty Two of the Punk Rock Classrooms Podcast! "Classroom Management Like a Punk" Season two of punk rock classrooms is underway and the boys are focusing that punk rock ethos they honed in season one onto specific topics this go around. On this episode, Mike and Josh set their sights on classroom management. They discuss how to look at managing your classroom like a punk show. Creating a scene and a crew that helps create the expectations with a hearty dose of DIY and that learns to self regulate because we are all in it together. So don't let the rowdy guy in the pit ruin your fun. Create a classroom with ownership and buy-in and watch the show often manage itself. My personal favorite Goodreads list The Cuckoo's Egg is on is Nests, Dens, Lairs, Holes, Lodges, Setts. Today’s Library Tidbit focuses on the One Year Anniversary of the Bookmobile. Michael came on the podcast to talk about the success of the first year of the bookmobile, as well as, to give us a look into future bookmobile projects! We hope to see you at the one year anniversary party on January 13th! And now it's time for Book Traveler, with Victor: Intro: Welcome to a new edition of Book Traveler. My name is Victor and I am the Community Outreach Librarian here at the Largo Public Library. In this segment I am going to talk about a book we have in the Spanish collection. It is a fiction title entitled The Lido by Libby Page. Synopsis: A tender, joyous debut novel about a cub reporter and her eighty-six-year-old subject—and the unlikely and life-changing friendship that develops between them. Kate is a twenty-six-year-old riddled with anxiety and panic attacks who works for a local paper in Brixton, London, covering forgettably small stories. When she’s assigned to write about the closing of the local lido (an outdoor pool and recreation center), she meets Rosemary, an eighty-six-year-old widow who has swum at the lido daily since it opened its doors when she was a child. It was here Rosemary fell in love with her husband, George; here that she’s found communion during her marriage and since George’s death. The lido has been a cornerstone in nearly every part of Rosemary’s life. But when a local developer attempts to buy the lido for a posh new apartment complex, Rosemary’s fond memories and sense of community are under threat. As Kate dives deeper into the lido’s history—with the help of a charming photographer—she pieces together a portrait of the pool, and a portrait of a singular woman, Rosemary. What begins as a simple local interest story for Kate soon blossoms into a beautiful friendship that provides sustenance to both women as they galvanize the community to fight the lido’s closure. Meanwhile, Rosemary slowly, finally, begins to open up to Kate, transforming them both in ways they never knew possible. In the tradition of Fredrik Backman, The Lido is a charming, feel-good novel that captures the heart and spirit of a community across generations—an irresistible tale of love, loss, aging, and friendship. Opinion: When I chose this book, I was aware that it had nothing to do with the genres I usually read. The novels of everyday life are not my thing. For me, this story is not one of those that attract attention for its synopsis. However, I wanted to try something different and The Lido was an opportunity to read realistic stories that had nothing to do with the romantic genre, so I decided to give it a try. Also, the cover was cute. Kate is a young journalist who has recently moved to London, a city that is big but sometimes feels like it suffocates her. She works in a local newspaper and her day-to-day life consists of surviving, writing unimportant articles, feeding on precooked food and interacting as little as possible with her neighbors. That situation changes when the newspaper offers her to write an article about the closure of the municipal swimming pool. The city council has received a juicy offer from the Paradise Living company about building a luxur...

We’re tackling the topic of burnout this episode after both of us experienced it this past week feeling exhausted, unmotivated, or simply in a funk. The purpose of this episode is to reinforce the unity we have as human beings who all experience seasons similar to this. If you are feeling this way frequently though, we encourage you to talk to a loved one and seek professional guidance [we are not therapists ;)]. In its entirety, we think there is a lot of value in sharing the unmotivated and exhausted times just as much as the ambitious and encouraging seasons. There is so much freedom in allowing ourselves to acknowledge how we’re truly feeling and we realize the goodness that is unleashed when internal guilt is fought with grace of the heart.
