Savukārt Latvijas Vides, ģeoloģijas un meteoroloģijas centra speciālisti analizējuši tendences Latvijas upēs vasarās.  Šogad sausums nerada problēmas. Gluži pretēji – daudzviet, īpaši Latvijas austrumos, mitruma bijis par daudz. Vai klimata pārmaiņas manāmas arī šajā aspektā. Zināms, ka ziemās upes aizsalst retāk, lieli pavasara pali arī ir retāk, jo nav ne sniega, ne ledus, kam kust, vienlaikus ziemās pali kļuvuši biežāki. Lai kā arī nezinātājam gribētos visus ūdens bezmugurkaulniekus saukt par līdzīgām vabolēm, tārpiem, garnelēm vai citiem “kukaiņiem” - tie ir ļoti atšķirīgi organismi un radniecība to starpā nebūt nav tuva. Cik dažāda ir ūdens bezmugurkaulnieku pasaule, kas dabai nozīmīgs attīstās un dzīvo dažādās ūdenstilpēs un kā šie organismi ietekmē cilvēku dzīvi, par to raidījumā Zināmais nezināmajā stāsta Uģis Piterāns, Latvijas Nacionālā dabas muzeja vecākais entomologs, un Dāvis Ozoliņš, Latvijas Universitātes Bioloģijas institūta Hidrobioloģijas laboratorijas pētnieks. Mēs pirms brīža ar Tomu Brici kavējamies atmiņās par 2005. gadu, kad esot bijis ļoti liels mitruma daudzums un nokrišņu daudzums, tad strauji iesākās vasara maija beigās un ļoti savairojās dažādi knišļi. Vai tajos brīžos, kad ir lielāks ūdens daudzums dabā visapkārt un ūdenstilpēs sāk vairoties dažādi organismi, vairāk ir to, kas pēc tam mums dzeļ un dažādi apgrūtina dzīvi, vai patiesībā tā ir vide, kurā attīstās arī ļoti daudz tādu organismu, kas palīdz regulēt to līdzsvaru? "Droši vien kā savairojas gan vieni, gan otri, bet tos, kas mums ir nepatīkami, mēs vienkārši labāk pamanām, vieglāk ieraugam, ka viņu ir vairāk. Bet citi ūdens iemītnieki arī izmanto tādas iespējas, ja ūdens ir vairāk kā citus gadus, ūdens kukaiņu attīstība daudzos gadījumos ir pietiekami ātra. Viņi spēj diezgan ātri savairoties. Bet tos asinssūcējus mēs pamanām vairāk," vērtē Uģis Piterāns. "Par to ir daudz jāstāsta, ka arī odus mēs varam saukt par ūdens kukaiņiem. Starp ūdens kukaiņiem ir pietiekami daudz tādu sugu grupu, kuru kāpuri dzīvo ūdenī, bet pieaugušais kukainis ar ūdeni faktiski nav saistīts. Viņš lido apkārt un var būt jebkur sastopams. Odu faktiski varam dēvēt par ūdens kukaini."

Jāsaprot jau arī tas, ka ne tikai mums dzeršanai tas ūdens ir vai mājsaimniecībā vajadzīgs, bet arī visā ražošanā." Bet, ja runājam par pasaules sausajiem reģioniem, kur ir lielākā problēma - ūdens tur ir ļoti dziļi? Vai ir problēma to tīri tehniski dabūt līdz cilvēkiem vai tur tīri fiziski tā ūdens arī ļoti dziļi nemaz nav?  Sandis Dejus: Sausie reģioni noteikti saistīti ar to ūdens pieejamību tieši dziļumā . Ja mēs, piemēram, paskatāmies filmas par faraonu kapenēm vai citiem Ēģiptes noslēpumiem, tad tur bieži vien tas viss notiek ļoti dziļi pazemē un ūdens nav ne ziņas. Latvijā noteikti šādas kapenes nevarētu izveidot vai līdzīgus pieminekļus, vienkārši mums lāpstas attālumā zem zemes parādās gruntsūdeņi un tas ūdens ir daudz vienkāršāk pieejams.  Tas nozīmē, ka ir zemes un valstis, kur noteikti jārok daudz dziļāk un tie ir simtiem un pat, iespējams, tūkstošiem metru, līdz mēs sasniedzam šo ūdens līmeni, kurš varētu tikt izmantots kaut kādā veidā ūdensapgādē. Bet šeit atkal ļoti svarīgi saprast arī to, jo pazemē ir vairāk dažādu cilvēkiem absolūti nevajadzīgu "štruntu" kā zelts, naftas, dimanti, litijs un vēl kaut kādas pilnīgi nevajadzīgas lietas, jo šī  augsnē ir vairāk piesārņota ar šo visu, jo arī ūdens resurss ir daudz piesārņotāks un daudz sarežģītāk sagatavojams dažnedažādām vajadzībām, gan dzeramā ūdens vajadzībām, gan arī dažādiem ražošanas procesiem. Lai sagatavotu šo ūdeni, ir jāizmanto dažādas sarežģītas tehnoloģijas, kas ir salīdzinoši dārgas un nepieejamas, it sevišķi mazāk turīgos reģionos, kur šis ūdens nav pieejams.
