Each of the seven churches suffered from something that had the power to hinder them from overcoming. The church at Thyatira was lured away by a group of people, typified by Jezebel of the Old Testament. They appointed themselves as the “oracles of God” and perverted the true message, luring people away from fidelity towards God to something that is offered and acceptable in the world, but not to God. When studying prophecy and eschatology, there are methods of approach to understand the meanings of scripture. There are criteria to consider such as: whether the text is literal, historical context, grammatical context, the objective of a passage, the intent of what is being expressed, things that are symbols or symbolic, and whether a passage is allegorical or parabolic. Through the scriptures, we can see the parallels between Moses and Jesus, including both of their mothers. Jochebed risked everything to protect her child, Moses.  Mary, the mother of Jesus, dealt with frustration when she did not understand her Son, and she had to suffer as she watched Him crucified.  Our parents are not perfect, but God chose them for us and we should honor them.  Honoring our earthly parents helps us to understand how we should relate to our Heavenly Father.
