Send us a textWhat happens when the warning signals from our bodies become so normalized that we fail to recognize them as distress calls? After experiencing a sudden atrial fibrillation episode that landed me in the emergency room, doctors asked the question that haunted me: "Why did you wait so long to seek help?" The answer was both simple and profound – I had been ignoring my body's desperate attempts to complete stress cycles that had accumulated over the years. This deeply personal episode explores the science behind stress cycles and explains why completing them is essential for our overall well-being. Drawing on Emily and Amelia Nagoski's groundbreaking work, I explain that stress isn't just a feeling, but a physiological cycle with distinct phases that must reach a state of completion. When we continuously interrupt this natural process, moving from one stressor to the next without allowing our bodies to process and release, we remain in a state of hypervigilance that takes a devastating toll on our physical and mental health.Whether you're feeling the early warning signs of burnout or want to develop healthier rhythms, this episode offers seven practical strategies to complete stress cycles and return to a state of flourishing. All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. — 2 Corinthians 5:18 My wife and I stood silently together, staring up at a small window in the top corner of a large and ominous residential school building. For 140 years this building housed about 150 Indigenous children from a nearby reserve. We had just heard some of the heart-wrenching stories of the children who were forced to live in that school. When they arrived, their hair was cut, and their clothes were taken away and replaced with uniforms. Names were replaced with numbers. Many children suffered abuse and neglect. One man told us that this small window was where he would regularly escape from when he was a boy living at the school. Sadly, for most of its history this was a church-run school. As you can imagine, many of the children who lived at the school have a very complicated and hostile view of the Christian faith today. Thankfully, some churches and Christians in Canada are beginning to reckon with this shameful past and have taken steps toward reconciliation. This work is a part of our holistic mission. As Christians, we have been reconciled to God through Christ. And we are called to the ongoing ministry of reconciliation, bringing the hope and healing of Christ into the deeply broken places of our world. It begins by listening and, where necessary, repenting. Dear God, we confess that your church has at times been a poor reflection of your heart. Forgive us and help us to live as agents of reconciliation in this broken world. Amen.

from Matthew 5:21-26 w/ Ed Glaize
Summary In this sermon from Romans 5:9–11, Dr. Michael Easley explores the profound truth of reconciliation with God. Drawing from the story of Eric Lomax, a British POW who endured years of torture under Japanese captivity, Dr. Easley illustrates the unimaginable depth of forgiveness and reconciliation between bitter enemies. Lomax's eventual reconciliation with his tormentor serves as a powerful picture of the greater reconciliation God offers to us. Paul reminds believers that through Christ's death we are justified—declared righteous before God—and through His life we are reconciled, no longer enemies but friends of God. Dr. Easley explains the difference between justification, a legal declaration of righteousness, and reconciliation, a relational restoration to peace and friendship with God. Because Christ died for us while we were His enemies, we can be assured He will also save us as His friends. Dr. Easley challenges us to embrace the joyful confidence that comes from being reconciled to God. Our salvation is secure, not by our contributions but by Christ's finished work. As reconciled enemies, we are called to live with humble confidence, rejoicing in the love and grace of God who declares us righteous and calls us His friends. Takeaways Through Christ's death we are justified, declared righteous before God. Reconciliation goes beyond justification, restoring relationships between former enemies. Believers are assured they will escape God's wrath through Christ. If God loved us enough to die for us as enemies, He surely saves us as His friends. Our salvation is secure in Christ's finished work, not our own contributions. Reconciled enemies of God should live with joyful confidence and humble worship. To read the book of Romans, click here. from Matthew 5:21-26 Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5-7, we know as The Sermon on the Mount…but it is so much more than just a collection of wisdom and challenge and instruction from Jesus. It is at the heart of it, an invitation from Jesus to consider that there is another way, that there is a better way. To … Continue reading "(September 7, 2025) “Sermon on the Mount: Be Reconciled”"

The Father has done an amazing work by reconciling us to Himself. Through Christ, believers are made new creations, no longer defined by our old selves. Paul emphasizes that God has entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation and given us vital work to do: act as Christ's ambassadors to call others to be reconciled to God.

In our Gospel reading from St. Matthew 5, our Lord teaches us how we are to live towards those we have offended. To forgive those who have offended us is one thing, but what is our relational responsibility toward those we have offended. Our Lord is very clear. He teaches us to put our offering to Him down, go and be reconciled first, then come and bring our offering to Him. To go to one we have offended and plead for their forgiveness is an act of great mercy. And, as we considered a few weeks ago, Christ our God calls us to be merciful as our Father is merciful.
We are living through intense division in our society. But the problem of division is not unique to our time. The first book of the Bible, Genesis, is filled with division. In this sermon series, “Jacob: God's Hope for a Divided People," we will study the story of Jacob (Genesis 25-48) to consider the great hope God gives us for redemption and reconciliation across seemingly irreconcilable differences.

Today's Promise: 2 Corinthians 5:18 God uses the word "reconcile" in this promise. It is not a word we use very often. It means to bring together or to change thoroughly. It's the picture of two enemies becoming friends. God has reconciled us to Him. Through Jesus Christ, although we were once enemies, we are now friends of God. Since you are a new creature and have the righteousness of Christ in you, God calls you to a ministry of reconciliation. You are to help your friends become reconciled to God.
Pastor Mike teaches how the new covenant was given through the Word (Jesus), the exact representation of God, but the law was given through angels. Audio>

In “I Am Reconciled,” Pastor Dave Gustavsen shares how Jesus breaks down the walls that divide us from God and from each another. Teaching from Ephesians 2, he explains how Jesus' sacrifice brings peace and creates a new way for us to live in unity. Through His death on the cross, we can draw close to God and find healing in broken relationships. No wall of anger, hurt, or division is too strong for the power of His love to overcome. Watch this talk on YouTube » Entrepreneurs and high achievers like to talk a lot about how to rewrite their life story, especially in the context of their external accomplishments. I've found that growth more happens in the unseen moments - the times of pain, heartache, and the decisions we face that require courage, forgiveness, and presence. When I got the call that my dad was dying, I knew I had to share this story—our story. This is a talk I gave at Growth Now Summit Live, and with special permission from host Justin Schenck, I'm sharing it here. It's about reconciliation, grief, identity, and the raw, often ugly road to healing. Whether or not you're navigating loss or family conflict, I hope this message invites you to reconnect—with yourself or someone else—before it's too late.
