What we love and what we hate reveals more about us than we may realize. In this message from 1 John 3, we explore the contrast between Cain and Abel, the children of God and the children of the devil, life and death, love and hate. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, and our response to Christ exposes the condition of our hearts. Are we drawn to righteousness or repelled by it? Discover how genuine faith produces a love for Christ, a love for His people, and a growing hatred for sin. Support the show

In 2 Corinthians 6, the Apostle Paul pulls back the curtain on real ministry and genuine faith. Instead of pointing to success, comfort, or popularity, Paul points to endurance, holiness, sacrifice, and wholehearted devotion to Christ. He reminds believers not to waste the grace of God, to remain faithful through trials, and to live as God's distinct people in a world that constantly pressures them to compromise. In this message, we explore: * How to avoid receiving God's grace in vain * Why genuine ministry often involves suffering and sacrifice * The marks of a heart transformed by Christ * What it means to be “unequally yoked” * How God calls His people to holiness without isolation * Why obedience matters most when it becomes difficult Whether you are facing opposition, temptation, discouragement, or simply trying to live faithfully in an increasingly hostile culture, this chapter offers both challenge and encouragement.

What do you do when the storms of life hit? Our instinct is to hunker down, strain at the oars, and just try to survive. But what if the storm isn't just an obstacle — what if it's an invitation?Guest speaker Jeff Stemple walks us through one of the most familiar stories in Scripture: Jesus walking on water. And while the story is familiar, the truth buried inside it is anything but comfortable. By looking at the accounts in Mark, John, and Matthew side by side, Jeff unpacks why Matthew is the only gospel writer who includes Peter's attempt to step out of the boat — and why that "screw up" might be the most encouraging part of the whole story. The storms of life are invitations to step out in faith.Fear says stay put. Faith says step out. And what Jesus says to Peter in the middle of that storm, he says to all of us — come. The very place we least want to go may be the exact place Jesus is already standing, waiting for us to trust him.Whether your storm started last week or last year, this episode is for you.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

This sermon explores the question of what we are truly devoted to, arguing that people are shaped by what they love most. Using 1 John 2:15–17, the message contrasts loving the temporary things of the world with loving God, emphasizing that worldly pursuits like pleasure, fame, and pride can never fully satisfy because they are finite and passing away. The sermon ultimately points to Jesus Christ as the only source of lasting fulfillment, teaching that true rest and purpose are found in devotion to the eternal God rather than the temporary things of this world. Support the show

The central question is: What does it mean to be a true, authentic Christian? The message confronts false ideas about Jesus, specifically the ancient Gnostic belief that denied Christ's physical reality and used that distortion to excuse sinful living. In response, the Apostle John establishes a firsthand, eyewitness account of Jesus, someone who was seen, heard, and touched, not imagined or symbolic.Support the show

This is part one of the Restoration Theology class. How do you know what to believe? Have you ever been frustrated when hearing multiple perspective on a doctrine and weren’t sure which to believe? There are so many denominations out there, each with its own statement of faith and traditions. How can you be sure that the beliefs you inherited are really true? Will you be satisfied if I just say, “Trust me. I’m a pastor. I’ve been to seminary. Don’t trouble yourself with figuring out doctrine. I’m the expert; you’re the layman. Just believe whatever I say.” How would you feel about that? Maybe if you know me and you’ve been a longtime listener to this podcast, you might be fine with that. That is, until someone else, equally intelligent, equally credentialled, and equally as persuasive comes along teaching a contradictory doctrine. Call me a stickler, but topics as important as what to believe about God, yourself, and salvation are way too important to leave to blind faith. I’m not saying you need to become an expert or get a Ph. D., but you do need to know how the process works. Ultimately you are responsible for your beliefs not me or the thousand other podcasters out there. You. Welcome to Restoration Theology, my brand-new class designed to guide you through a comprehensive and systematic method to evaluate your beliefs. I’ve been working on this class for the last few months, but really, I’ve been preparing for this class for over two decades as I’ve pursued education in biblical studies, biblical languages, church history, and theology. I’m so excited to share with you what I’ve learned and guide you through the process of figuring out what to believe. My focus for this class is not on telling you what to believe, but on teaching you a method to figure out your beliefs for yourself.   Listen on Spotify   Listen on Apple Podcasts —— Links —— Check out the other episodes from Restoration Theology Support Restitutio by donating here Join our Facebook group, follow on X @RestitutioSF or Instagram @Sean.P.Finnegan Leave a 90 second voice message via SpeakPipe with questions or comments and we may play it out on the air Who is Sean Finnegan?  Read his bio here Get Finnegan’s book, Kingdom Journey to learn about God’s kingdom coming on earth as well as the story of how Christianity lost this pearl of great price.
