Frodo's journey through the wilds takes a dramatic turn as the wounded hobbit nears the Ford of Bruinen. This episode explores three pivotal moments from the chapter Flight to the Ford in The Fellowship of the Ring. First, Sam Gamgee reveals his hidden depth through an imaginative troll-song, echoing Tolkien's ideas on fairy stories and the role of poetry in Middle-earth. Then, the hobbits encounter the buried remnants of Bilbo's earlier adventure, signaling the final narrative departure between Bilbo and Frodo. Finally, the mysterious rider Glorfindel arrives—not Arwen, as seen in the films, but a radiant elf-lord with deep roots in the First Age. With insights into Elvish reincarnation, the symbolism of bells and light, and the layered history behind Glorfindel's return, this episode highlights Tolkien's brilliance in mythmaking and the layered reality of his world.Part 3 of 4 exploring "Flight to the Ford" from JRR Tolkien's Fellowship of the Ring.Share this episode using this link:ringspodcast.com/210Who are you? Please tell me a little about you: ringspodcast.com/surveyWander Farther: A Free Chapter GuideDownload my free chapter guide for "Flight to the Ford": ringspodcast.com/flightDeals for you, my fellow wandererExclusive discount for Lore of the Rings Listeners: 25% off your entire order at Manly Bands. In the book of Revelation, Christ famously warns the Church about the Synagogue of Satan — yet the identity of this group has been hidden behind half-truths and seductive conspiracies. When we consider the full breadth of history and take the bible as a narrative of God's people among a counterfeit system of worship, the truth about the Synagogue of Satan becomes clear, poignant and undeniable. From Babylon to Rome and from ancient times to modern day, there is nothing new under the sun.* 00:00 - Introduction* 03:27 - The First Age* 05:36 - Ancient Paganism* 27:26 - The Early Church Age* 53:21 - Islam* 1:11:38 - The Knights Templar This is a public episode. Solo episode. Chris gets sad when talking about the awful stuff Sauron does in the First Age of Middle-earth.
“If Elves indeed still dwell here in this darkening world.” We're back! For a special festive episode where we explore the symbolism of gift giving in Lothlorien. Every member of the Fellowship is given a parting gift by the Lady of the Light. Does she know what will befall them all? What do her gifts symbolise and how do they shape the narrative as the Fellowship cracks at the Falls of Rauros? From Galadriel's gift of the Light of Eärendil, we take a whistle stop tour through the history of Elvendom on Middle Earth. We discuss the Eldar, the people of the stars, those born under the night skies in the First Age of Beleriand. The ones who chose to stay in the dark realm of Middle Earth rather than follow the call to go to the undying lands. It's a beautiful choice. To stay in the land of decay, decomposition and disintegration. And the choice is an astonishing one when you yourself are immortal. We honour the choice to stay and fade with every passing season. We live in a society which would have us turn always towards the light, to distract from the deadening expanse of the landscape. But there is something soul making in our choice to dissolve with the fading light. As soon as we trust in winter, we can trust in the return of the spring. May this Solstice bless you all with the shimmering dark. “May it be a light for you in dark places, where all other lights go out.” If you'd love to geek out with us, reach out to fortheshire.pod@gmail.com or follow us on @fortheshire.pod on Instagram. **Cold Open (The new podcast music / Jake and Lauren started a new business)****Skip the Cold Open at 14:58**Increasing regulations and privacy-focused web users are making it harder for agencies to target in-market audiences and track conversions properly. It's our duty as agencies to do those two things:1) Target the right audiences2) Track our success and ROIThe harder it is for us to do that the harder it is for clients to justify paying us.In this episode, we talk about a number of privacy-related digital marketing topics like:The death of 3rd party cookies (Facebook & Google tracking pixels) and how conversions need to be tracked now that browser pixels are becoming less effective. How advertising budgets will shift away from programmatic media to magazines and publications (sources that own first party data). And how increasing email privacy and spam policies are requiring agencies and businesses to become more tech savvy to simply deliver a sent email. We predict that these changes are going to weed out certain agencies while increasing the barrier to entry for the industry.
