It is a strange but somehow peaceful time. We are in the 'holiday season', which is 'show season' for me. We are between the election and the inauguration. We decided to read a surprisingly silly Zingerman's SOP and revisit the piece I read for my dear friend's wedding. Jamie updates me on the news from a recent cannabis conference in Vegas. Come see me January 2nd at 50 First Jokes!!

In today's pod-snack, Myq shares something from yesterday, today, and tomorrow! Yesterday was a show called Fifty First Jokes. Today was an exchange with a nice lady that involved a George Saunders quote on humor, and tomorrow begins a standup tour full of performances in states whose abbreviations are all consonants! Enjoy!

It was a 'show must go on' day, and thanks to the lovely recommendation from and company of Cynthia Shelby Lane, it was fun and engaging. If you are looking for a very easy to read and reference guide on how cannabis is being used to treat many well known conditions from insomnia to epilepsy to ptsd, this is the book. If you are looking to start exploring the plant medicine of cannabis for the first time, also a great place to start. Also, Cynthia is amazing and still trying to be an astronaut and this is a big huge year for her unstoppable dream. AND we will both be at 50 First Jokes at the ARK in Ann Arbor Jan 6, 2022! Come see us!

Keith and The Girl legend and Redacted Tonight correspondent John F. O’Donnell shares his stand-up beginnings at age 12, taking his show on the road, and being a featured act on Comedy Central. Even mental breakdowns couldn’t stop John’s creation of 50 First Jokes from taking off in multiple cities, and he reminisces about the highs and lows working as a political correspondent on television. Then he tells you how to watch his new hour-long special The Manic-Depressive Chocolate Fountain Operator for free.
I first saw John F. O'Donnell performing years ago in a basement in the bowels of Bushwick and his talent really spoke to me. I've followed his career and he's just finished 5 years as a correspondent on Redacted Tonight. We got him back in the hood and most importantly back weekly live at Cobra Club! Live From Outer Space, every Friday night, 9pm, is a great, authentic, comedy show where you can see well-known comedians for cheap, he often co-hosted with the awesome Eric Bergstrom. John is undeniably funny and original. When he shows up to the studio this time he is also clean and healthy as a whistle. As he says so himself, “he looks years younger.” John openly dives right into describing his battle with bipolar illness. What's so interesting, hearing about it from him, is that he has truly educated himself on his illness and the myriad ways, medical and otherwise, diet, yoga, etc. to cope with it. So as an unlicensed shrink, I learned a lot—he understands all the drugs quite well and how they work too. He's really helpful at articulating his feelings and experiences as well. John is inspiring too. His drive to cope with bipolar is directly connected to his passion for comedy, because he wants to keep doing it. He's in a great place right now – so glad to have him back in Brooklyn! If you're interested in hearing even more about John's bipolar experience, you can add on this episode of the Keith and The Girl podcast: http://www.keithandthegirl.com/show-detail/5679/goofygrapes-w-john-f-odonnell.aspx At the beginning of this episode: Howard Eckstut, a boy from camp that liked me and visited me at my home after camp calls in-we haven't talked in 50 years! We reminisce about a co-ed swim. and more GET HIS SPECIAL HERE John F. O'Donnell (JFOD) is currently a “Political Correspondent” on the comedy news television program Redacted Tonight with Lee Camp on RT America. According to the Comedy Central Insider, "John F. O'Donnell is one of the more explosive comics in New York City. On stage, he's like a tightly capped liter of soda filled with lit fireworks." John has been featured in The New York Times, The LA Times and The Huffington Post, as well as being one of Comedy Central's Fresh Faces of Comedy. John is also the co-creator and host of the 8-city hit show, 50 First Jokes. JFOD was been given a Congressional Press Credentials for Redacted Tonight, which, if you know him, seems like a terrible breach of security.

Claudia Cogan is an immensely funny person and has the accolades to prove it. Not only was she named one of the “10 Comics Funny People Find Funny" in New York Magazine and was winner of Time Out New York's first ever Joke of the Year, but Cogan was also on the last season of Last Comic Standing, making it to the semi-final round. She began her comedic career on the UCB Harold teams Pole Position and Beautiful Cop, moving from improv to sketch to eventually stand-up and produces the shows Turtle Tank and 50 First Jokes. Claudia came over to the Wrestling Team apartment in February to discuss these things, as well as producing comedy shows, shame, Lenny Bruce, marketability and family relations.
