Katie talks about Mohsen Mahdawi, the SECOND Palestinian Columbia student unlawfully arrested with one of his Jewish American-Israeli classmate Aharon Dardik and journalist Alex Kane. Aharon talks about moving from the U.S. to the West Bank where he and his family were settlers, and then going to prison for refusing to serve in the IDF. Alex talks about his investigation into who funds The Canary Mission. Then Katie talks to political comedian Lee Camp about Ben Shapiro and trying to do comedy in this insanity. Aharon Dardik is an Israeli-American ex-settler, conscientious objector to the Israeli military, and nonviolent activist. He is currently getting his undergraduate degree in both Philosophy and Political Science at Columbia University, where he founded Columbia Jews for Ceasefire in the wake of the Israeli military's response to the October 7th attacks. Aharon is a close friend of Mohsen and a partner in their peace efforts, hoping to bridge the Israeli and Palestinian communities together towards a shared future. Their work together has ranged from trying to craft Columbia campus policy changes that would be supported by both the Jewish and Palestinian communities, to crafting the framework for an Israeli-Palestinian peace plan designed to meet the needs of all the inhabitants of the land. Alex Kane is a senior reporter at Jewish currents and has also reported on The Canary Mission for The Intercept. Lee Camp is the former host of Redacted Tonight and current host of Unredacted Tonight on YouTube. He used to perform comedy with Katie Halper! ***Please support The Katie Halper Show *** For bonus content, exclusive interviews, to support independent media & to help make this program possible, please join us on Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/thekatiehalpershow Get your Katie Halper Show Merch here! https://katiehalper.myspreadshop.com/all Follow Katie on Twitter: https://x.com/kthalps Follow Katie on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/kthalps/
Lee Camp is a comedian, writer, podcaster, and show host. He hosted the teeth-as-sharp-nails political comedy show, Redacted Tonight, which tragically got axed as the result of years of misdirected nationwide hysteria. I've known Lee for a long time, given the theme of the show, I'd originally planned for him to be a December episode, but he's got a new show out, so the time is now!
Today I talk with Lee Camp to discuss the Left in America, or lack thereof. Lee Camp is a comedian, activist, and commentator. He created, wrote, and hosted the hit weekly comedy show "Redacted Tonight" for 8 years. He now hosts the daily show "Dangerous Ideas" on YouTube and Rumble. He's the author of multiple books including "Bullet Points & Punch Lines" and "Dangerous Ideas." He also has multiple comedy albums and hosts the podcasts "The Lee Camp Show", "Moment of Clarity", and "Government Secrets". Mickey opens the program speaking with Norman Solomon about Solomon's latest book, “War Made Invisible” (from New Press), examining how the military, politicians, and corporate media cooperate to disguise from the public the human toll of U.S. wars. Then Eleanor Goldfield speaks with Lee Camp about his new e-book “Dangerous Ideas.” Camp brings a skeptical yet humorous eye to various issues that need a closer look, from consumerism to capitalism itself. He also speaks about his first-hand experiences of being censored. Norman Solomon is an author, media critic, and former Congressional candidate. His previous books include “War Made Easy,” “Target Iraq,” and “Unreliable Sources.” Lee Camp is a comedian and journalist. He hosted a program, “Redacted Tonight,” on RT America Television, until the network was forced to close in 2022 in the aftermath of the invasion of Ukraine. In this episode: I talk with Hurdling, Raybaybay, Sebastian, Desert Fawkes, LetsJustThink, and Ragz, from the Stereo app. Desert Fawkes joins near the end of part 2 and we continue our discussion in part 3. We discuss a bunch of things including, The Bohemian Grove, Epstein, The Great Reset and more. Sebastian gets a little fired up in this episode but all in all it was a good conversation. I also educate the Ray and Hurdling about immigration. Both of them are Trump supporters and were not aware of when the steady flow of immigrants is coming from. This steady stream of immigrants is coming from countries the US has destroyed throughout Central and South America. This is what the CIA calls "blowback' which is the unintended consequences of our foreign policy. We also discuss the problem with The Supreme Court having lifetime appointments. RT America was taken off of the air in the US and was labelled Russian State TV. Author Chris Hedges after doing some research said the official reason the US government gave for shutting down RT was that they provided a platform for anti-American sentiments from groups such as Occupy, BLM, and anti war activists. RT America provided a platform for those speaking truth to power. Lee Camp on his show Redacted Tonight would constantly state the reason he was on RT was that they let him speak on anything he wanted to speak out about. The only propagandistic thing about RT is that they let pissed off Americans talk about why we are pissed off at our government. RT was no more "Russian state TV" than MSNBC and CNN are US state TV. CNN is so bad I call it The Cia News Network. You can't throw the baby out with the bath water. Just because you don't like the person who delivers information, that does not mean the information is not valid. Information must be evaluated for validity without a bias toward the person delivering the information. I did not mean to get into a big conversation about Alex Jones, I simply said he has gotten a couple of things right. As the saying goes, even a broken clock can be right twice a day. We also got into a conversation about identity politics. Although Sebastian came off a little aggressive, I chalk it up to someone being passionate. It did feel like he wanted to argue as opposed to having a conversation in a couple instances. I like to talk about big picture issues, and not get lost in the minutia. This conversation went completely off the rails when I began discussing the documentary What is a Woman. I had not heard of Matt Walsh before watching this film. Once again it is important to evaluate information without a bias about the person delivering the information. You can say what you want about Mat Walsh and his politics, that does not take away from the fact that What Is a Woman is an excellent film that asks the question that needs to be asked. In this episode of Guerrilla History, we present something a bit different than usual! We recently appeared on Lee Camp's program Behind the Headlines to discuss history as propaganda, moving beyond capitalism, and much more. Here, we provide a roughly 50 minute introduction to the topics and reflection on what we discussed with Lee before we include our interview on Lee's show in its entirety. A very fun interview, be sure to check out Behind the Headlines if you enjoyed how it went! You can also watch the interview portion (though not the reflection/intro) on YouTube. Lee Camp is a writer, comedian, podcaster, news journalist and news commentator. The Pentagon has “lost track” of more than half of its assets, based on its fifth failed audit in a row. The Pentagon's assets include troops, weapons, battleships, submarines, buildings, and more, costing trillions of dollars – yet over half are unaccounted for? How does the single biggest and costliest agency get away with this while Congress dismisses free college, improved Medicare and Medicaid, helping low-income families with costs of childcare, and other basic necessities? The Federal Reserve has responded to runaway inflation with a spike in interest rates. The real cost of such measures is primarily paid by the working class, who are caught in a double-bind of rising prices of goods and falling wages. As TRNN has covered extensively in the past, the real culprits of rising inflation are multinational corporations and financial institutions, who have opportunistically raised prices, recycled billions of dollars in stock buybacks, and benefited from massive federal bailout packages. Why is the Federal Reserve squeezing workers, and how should the inflation crisis really be solved? Anders Lee interviews CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies Assistant Professor Samir Sonti on behalf of The Real News to discuss how historical examples like the 1979 Volcker Shock can help us understand how the Federal Reserve will respond to our contemporary situation.Anders Lee is a writer, podcaster, comedian and organizer. GUEST OVERVIEW: John F O'Donnell is an American comedian and former correspondent of Redacted Tonight. He now hosts his own show called Take Your Pill, Psychopath.
Censorship by proxy continues in the US with the latest wave of Big Tech censorship and deplatforming spurred by increased Russiaphobia that lead to the cancellation RT America. This week, Mickey talks with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Chris Hedges about the matter noting how Roku and DirecTV pulled the channel from subscriber services. In addition, Youtube deleted the entire catalog of RT America, which housed his book review program "On Contact," as well as all other programs there, from Lee Camp's Redacted Tonight to Abby Martin's Breaking the Set, in effort to suppress dissenting views not found in US corporate media. Mickey and Chris discuss issues with RT, but also the problematic media landscape in the US that drives critical journalists out of our so-called "free press.” Later in the program, journalist Kevin Gosztola returns to review the recent developments in the Julian Assange extradition case and offers additional analysis about Big Tech censorship and how “community standards” are used as an excuse to ban content at places like YouTube with no means of appeal or accountability. Notes: Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist with a long career as a foreign correspondent in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. His books include War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, Death of the Liberal Class, and America: The Farewell Tour. Kevin Gosztola is the managing editor at Shadowproof. He has covered the Julian Assange legal proceedings in the UK from the beginning, as well as other press-freedom and whistleblower cases. His interview with Mickey was recorded on March 25.
Lee Camp hosted Redacted Tonight for eight years -- until February 2022, when the show and his network were forced to close. His podcast has been removed from Spotify. He joins me to discuss censorship, the mainstream narrative, and the somewhat unimpressive American establishment.
Clearing the FOG with co-hosts Margaret Flowers and Kevin Zeese
Clearing the FOG speaks with political comedian Lee Camp about the sudden de-platforming that happened to him when RT America abruptly shut down after the Russian military intervention in Ukraine last month. Camp lost his program Redacted Tonight that aired weekly for the past eight years, and he was kicked off of other platforms such as Spotify. Camp talks about the big picture of growing censorship, the state of the media and freedom of the press, and the assault on the public's access to information that counters the narrative in the corporate media. Camp also discusses where we go from here to develop a democratized and independent media. For more information, visit PopularResistance.org.
This week on Talk World Radio, Lee Camp. He was the host, head writer, & creator of "Redacted Tonight" for 8 years, until it was canceled due to U.S. sanctions. It was the only anti-war anti-corporate comedy show on U.S. TV. In the same week, Lee's podcast "Moment of Clarity" was removed from Spotify, and his youtube channel was banned across Europe & the UK. Now he's at: https://www.patreon.com/LeeCamp
This week, Eleanor Goldfield hosts both segments of the show. Her first guest is Lee Camp, comedian and political writer, whose TV program (Redacted Tonight) ended with the recent shutdown of the Russia-funded RT America network. They discuss working on RT, and compare the journalistic latitude it allowed, versus that of corporate-owned US media. In the second segment, Chris Garaffa speaks about the shutdown of Sputnik radio in the U.S. and EU, a network where they were a regular contributor. Garaffa and Eleanor discuss how large US-based technology and media corporations have worked with the US government and its allies to prevent Americans from hearing Russian points of view, or any Russian-funded program, even if unrelated to Russia itself, or hosted by non-Russians. Garaffa also offers advice to Americans on how to circumvent government censorship. Notes: Lee Camp's political comedy program, "Redacted Tonight," had an eight-year run on RT America. He and Eleanor Goldfield collaborate on a podcast called "Common Censored." Camp is also the author of the book "Bullet Points and Punch Lines." Chris Garaffa cohosts the "Reboot" podcast and is the creator of Tech For the People. In this episode of his "Thinking Out Loud" series, Double D discusses the ramping up of censorship as the conflict in Ukraine escalates.Double D jumps in by discussing the recent shutting down of RT and all associated independent media such as Redacted Tonight and On Contact. He explains to his viewers that now, RT and Redacted Tonight are fully purged, using screen mirror to show that those channels are "not available in your country." He goes on to show that several Twitter users who were disseminating information and footage from the conflict have also been suspended.Double D goes on to read a tweet from DuckDuckGo CEO, Gabriel Weinberg; which says that the search engine will begin "downranking" any sources or content "related to Russian misinformation." He then jumps in to reading preliminary legislation imported from the EU that lays down broad powers and infrastructure for the purpose of wholesale internet censorship centered around the concept of "fake news" and "disinformation."Double D warns that granting such powers to tackle such a vague ideation is extremely dangerous, especially during a time where the world teeters on a war that has the capacity to go global.Double D goes on to read a recent memo from Google sent out to YouTube creators, which outlines new terms of service meant to "counter disinformation" regarding election integrity. Among the stipulations were the announcement that content which questions the fairness of an election, or content that distributes "hacked materials" ie, Wikileaks, will be pulled down from the platform.Ruminating on the consolidation of internet censorship, Double D eviscerates the "private company terms of service" argument for censorship. Arguing first that while such power seems a convenient tool for purging theocrats and fascists, consenting to such a precedent gives private corporations the power to purge anyone who dissents from public life. He then argues that in a capitalist society where corporations own the government, censorship at the hands of a private enterprise amounts to de facto state censorship.Double D ends the video by showing an article from MSM which condemns China for purging "pro-Ukraine" content from the internet, while giving priority to pro-Russian perspectives. Double D scoffs at the hypocrisy of Western media pushing such a narrative while the US and EU engage in the wholesale excommunication of anyone who questions the nature of the Ukraine conflict.

Lee Camp is a comedian and up until recently the host of Redacted Tonight. We go through everything that happened with RT America's closing and what it means to the indie media world.
The information war has heated up, this time with targets on the backs of anti-war journalists and media voices critical to NATO and the U.S. Last week, the offices of RT America were suddenly and abruptly shut down amid the war fever and Russophobia spreading across the country. In addition to banning an entire network, platforms like Twitter and Spotify have also taken steps to discredit individual journalists by removing their content. In the last week we've also seen mainstream media outlets like the Washington Post churn out hit pieces claiming that voices exposing U.S. empire, uplifting black liberation struggles, or speaking out against capitalism are nothing more than Russian propaganda. Joining the show is Lee Camp, the former host and head writer of the weekly comedy news show Redacted Tonight, which aired on RT America. We are also joined by Jacquie Luqman and Sean Blackmon the hosts of “By Any Means Necessary” on Radio Sputnik.

Our guest on this episode of the "Unauthorized Disclosure" podcast is comedian Lee Camp, who hosted "Redacted Tonight" on RT America for eight years until it shut down this past week. Hosts Rania Khalek and Kevin Gosztola talk with Lee about why RT America shut down and the censorship environment as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Lee and Rania both make the case for why this was a result of censorship. We discuss how RT America journalists (along with other foreign journalists) were forced in 2019 to register as "foreign agents" while working in the United States. Later in the show, Lee raises the issue of support for a No Fly Zone over Ukraine. Lee assesses what happens next as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate—with arms shipments pouring in from US/NATO and Russia preparing for the next phase in their military offensive.

Naomi Karavani reports on an abortion pill available since the 80s that could help address some of the US women's rights movement's issues if it were made more widely available. Finally, Jaffer Khan looks into the latest move from the mercenary capitalist Erik Prince.
Lee Camp is joined by journalist and host of Multipolarista, Ben Norton, to break down what is going on between Ukraine and Russia. They look to the real causes of Russia's actions in Ukraine beyond the Western war propaganda. The story goes back to the '90s and the dissolution of the Soviet Union, when the NATO powers guaranteed Moscow that they wouldn't expand toward Russian borders. They broke that promise. Then the story moves to a US-backed coup in Ukraine in 2014 and the fallout after separatist movements tried to secede. Norton outlines the history and most important context for this moment of insecurity. Naomi Karavani reports on a story about the US' failing medical system. A Wisconsin hospital sued to stop some of their nurses from leaving for better-paying jobs. The decision to stop them from switching jobs only held for a short time until another judge overturned the decision. The story highlights the farce of income disparities between healthcare workers and executives. Finally, Anders Lee goes back into the history of the board game Monopoly. It was invented under the name The Landlord's Game to explain the brutal reality of capitalism. Then, in true capitalist fashion, the idea was commodified by big business and turned into a celebration of our exploitative system.

A bill passed through Congress this week that proposes $500 million for anti-China propaganda. This comes on top of years of the US' highest-paid propagandists spending most of their energy demonizing China with lies and purposefully misinterpreted information. Lee Camp also takes on a teachers' strike in Puerto Rico, and the US' long history of funding and arming fascist groups that continues today in Ukraine. Jaffer Khan reports on how restaurant owners have continued to abuse service workers throughout the pandemic. When the crisis began, the government was generous with business owners and a lot less generous with their employees. Anders Lee reports on Elon Musk's latest controversy. His employees have been caught abusing monkeys while testing Neuralink technologies that allow subjects to control computers through microchips in their brains.
You probably know Roger Waters best from his music career in the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. But the rock star has also made a name for himself in left-wing activism. He has spent decades advocating for the rights of Palestinians living under Israeli apartheid and stands with Julian Assange as the Wikileaks founder faces the persecution of the most powerful governments on the planet. In this special episode of Redacted Tonight: VIP, Lee Camp has an extended conversation with Waters covering many important issues. Topics include the importance of Wikileaks, the current situation facing Assange, the truth about what is happening in Palestine, the special relationship between British and US oligarchs, the case of Steven Donziger, the state of the corporate media, and much more.
Many words have been written about the generation-defining masterpiece that is "The Sopranos." Comedian Anders Lee of Redacted Tonight and Pod Damn America has joined me once again to discuss some of the silliest of those words. From theories about what really happened in the finale to people who are baffled by the basic concepts of narrative editing, we address them all! Or we at least address some of them. Listen in and have some laughs while being reassured that whatever bad takes about The Sopranos you might have, there are people out there with worse ones.

We interview our friend and radical badass Eleanor Goldfield, about her new film “Hard Road of Hope” which documents the long history and current state of resistance and organizing in West Virginia against the rapacious coal mining and fracking industries that have all but destroyed their communities and the land that sustains them. We also go deep on the meanings and usefulness of words and labels, like “activist” and “anarchist”...and art's role in revolution. What's agitating us? The tension between all the good faith in humanity vibes that comes with successful mutual aid organizing efforts, but also the frustration of knowing that the support is only just temporary and not systemic; laws being passed in states to whitewash U.S. history and punish teachers who teach children the truth; and the existential horror that is the forever reality of plastic waste. Hosted by Milly Harmon, Shelly Williams, Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap, and Jessica Munger. A Democracy Unlimited Media Collaborative production. Special thanks to Jason Bayless and A Radical Guide for production support and Alfonso Saldaña for support on graphics. Transition music in this episode is from Eleanor's EP, No Solo. Resources discussed: *Find Mutual Aid networks in your community *If you haven't yet, you need to read A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn (and yes, Kaitlin is right, the audio version is narrated by Matt Damon and Howard Zinn) *Eleanor's work: Art Killing Apathy website. Hard Road of Hope documentary. Common Censored & Silver Threads & Act Out! podcasts. *Eleanor's media recommendations: Mint Press News. Popular Resistance. The Grayzone. Break Through News. Redacted Tonight. A couple definitions and acronyms mentioned: *BIPOC = Black, Indigenous and People of Color. *LGBTQ = Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Queer. *Critical Race Theory = A race-equity framework and approach to understanding educational inequality and structural racism to find solutions that lead to greater justice. CRT seeks to critically examine the law as it intersects with issues of race and to challenge the mainstream liberal approaches to racial justice. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/agitated-podcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/agitated-podcast/support

Lee Camp Is A Comedian & National TV Host Lee Camp is the head writer and host of the national TV show Redacted Tonight with Lee Camp on RT America. He's a former contributor to The Onion, former staff humor writer for the Huffington Post, and his web series “Moment of Clarity” has been viewed by millions. He's toured the country and the world with his fierce brand of standup comedy, and George Carlin's daughter Kelly said he's one of the few comics keeping her father's torch lit. Bill Hicks's brother Steve said Lee is one of only a handful with Bill's “message and passion.” In a recent interview Bill Hicks's brother Steve Hicks was asked whether he had favorite comedians who were inspired by Bill. Here is what he said: “I know Doug Stanhope is often cited as someone in the vein of Bill; Lee Camp and Jamie Kilstein are two others in the US that are carrying on with the message and the passion. Although I know they are admirers of Bill, it is important to note that they are their own people doing it their own way. All three of these are very good and I think anyone out there who is actually ‘trying to do Bill' falls very flat. You can't copy someone that was such an individual and these three guys aren't doing that. It's just in the spirit maybe but they are all excellent doing it their way, which is how it should be.” “This up-and-coming US star is already developing a reputation for fearless political comedy, with some calling him an heir to the crown of the late, great George Carlin. He gets our seal of approval.” –Time Out Sydney “Gets the crowd roaring!” –Rolling Stone “For those comedy fans still in mourning for Bill Hicks 18 years on, you'll find plenty to enjoy in the work of DC-born stand-up Lee Camp. Like Hicks, Camp has a visceral disregard for big business and big politics, and speaks his mind on everything from abortion rights to the evils of the modern media. However, where Hicks was more of a commentator who stayed above the fray, Camp is much closer to British activist-comics like Mark Thomas, a real-life serial protester.” –The Guardian “Like Jon Stewart from the Daily Show but with sharper teeth.” –the Herald “What if all the baggage and bullshit of our society were absorbed into the conscience of one man? A man who refused to accept this ‘Normality' we wade through…what kind of time-bomb would emerge? Well, as Evolution would have it in its process of Self-Correction, Lee Camp is that embodied ‘Time-Bomb of Reason' – ready to destroy anything that seeks to pollute our culture and restrict our possibility as a species.” –Peter Joseph (creator of the Zeitgeist Movement) “Lee Camp is an integral part of a longstanding satirical tradition. He has the rare ability to make you laugh and think simultaneously.” –Paul Krassner “Lee is the Che Guevara of comedy. Congrats to him on his balls and integrity. Everything he does is SO good. We need more comedians with his kind of fearlessness. It's so rare to find such artful, thoughtful passion in comedy these days. …or in life. He's waiting for a generation to catch up with him.” –Paul Provenza “Lee is totally inspiring. I kinda wanna be like him when I grow up.” –Rain Pryor (actor, comedian, daughter of Richard Pryor) “Lee Camp has found the hole in America's brain where reason has been replaced by Wal-Mart. Lee's rants channel the gunk oozing out. You have to admit, that's why he's so fucking funny.” — Greg Palast “One night I attended a Laughing Liberally comedy show. There was one funny comedian there – Lee Camp.” –Matt Labash (Conservative reporter for the right-wing publication The Weekly Standard) Website Link:
