2025 is already proving to be a memorable, standout year for leading precision motorsport subcontract specialist, Northants Precision Ltd. In addition to acquiring two more DN Solutions' Lynx 2100 lathes from Mills CNC, the company has successfully completed its relocation to larger premises, increased its headcount, and secured new machining contracts. Led by owner and Managing Director Daniel Green, Northants Precision continually aims for excellence. The machines, an 8” chuck, long-bed Lynx 2100LMB with driven tooling, and a 6” chuck, 2-axis Lynx 2100A, were installed at the company's new 3500sq/ft. manufacturing facility in Kislingbury, Northampton, in January and June 2025. Both machines are equipped with powerful, high-torque spindles, servo-driven turrets, rigid roller-type LM guideways, and hydraulic tailstocks. The Lynx 2100A offers a maximum turning diameter of 350mm and a turning length of 330mm with its 15kW/6000rpm spindle and 12-station turret, while the long-bed Lynx 2100LMB provides a 300mm turning diameter and 510mm turning length, featuring a 15kW/4500rpm spindle, 12/24-station turret, and 6000rpm driven tooling capabilities. The new machines are positioned adjacent to four previously acquired Lynx lathes, a Lynx 2100B (2022), a Lynx 2100MB (2021), a Lynx 2100LMB (2021) and a 10-year-old Lynx 220LSY. Together, these six FANUC controlled machines, three with driven tooling capabilities, provide Northants Precision with a formidable in-house turning and milling resource. All feature the advanced FANUC iPlus control with 15” touchscreen iHMI, making them ideal for meeting the accuracy needs and fast turnaround demands of motorsport customers. Since installation, the new Lynx lathes have been machining a range of small, complex, and high-precision engine, chassis, sub-frame, and gearbox components for F1, WEC (World Endurance Championships), WRC (World Rally Championship), and supercar customers. Parts machined on the Lynx lathes are typically washers, nuts, bolts, and top hats. They are characterised by tolerances of +/-5 microns on specific features, a flatness of 0.01mm, and strict surface finish requirements. These parts are machined in small-to-medium batches from solid bar stock. The primary materials processed include heat-treated stainless steels (13-8PH and MP35N), titanium 6242/6246 alloys, and aluminium. Part cycle times range from just a couple of minutes up to 10 minutes, and to ensure accuracy, concentricity, and flatness, parts are securely held using Hainbuch collet chucks. Daniel Green: “Machining and supplying hundreds, sometimes thousands, of identical high-precision and performance-critical parts from hard, difficult-to-machine materials to exacting quality standards is commonplace for us. But to achieve this consistently requires reliable, high-performance machines and proven CAD/CAM, machining, and inspection processes. We have invested significant resources to ensure we have all of these in place.” Northants Precision regularly monitors its performance to identify potential production bottlenecks and address them before they become problematic. The company's success in securing small part machining contracts from new and existing customers, including recent contracts won directly with F1 racing teams, prompted capacity reviews at the end of 2024 and during Spring 2025, ultimately leading to orders for two new machines. Daniel Green continues: “F1, and motorsport in general, is demanding and challenging. You always have to be ‘on top of your game' and constantly meet customers' quality and lead time requirements from day one. Failing to do so quickly tarnishes your reputation and means your days as a supplier in the sector are numbered. Our positive experiences with DN Solutions Lynx 2100 lathes and Mills CNC's pre and after-sales services meant that, on both occasions, we made Mills our ‘first port of call', ultimately investing in the new Lynx 2100A and Lynx 2100LMB.” A typical machined part is an engine housing washer component made from 10mm diameter pre-cut titanium bar stock supplied in 42” lengths. These parts are machined to completion in medium-sized batches (600-off) using two of Northants Precision's Lynx 2100 lathes positioned opposite one another to create a flexible manufacturing cell, operated by one member of staff. Front-end ID and OD turning are performed on a Lynx 2100 (two-axis) lathe, where a bar puller ensures a reliable process and continuous production. After the initial operations, which take about 2 minutes per part, the semi-finished parts are individually loaded into the Lynx 2100LM for back-end processing. This involves machining an angled groove or chamfer on each part, which takes approximately 30 seconds. Says Daniel Green: “We strive for excellence across the board. Everything we do, from our in-house CAD/CAM, machining and inspection to any outsourced processes - is integrated and carefully controlled.”

Avec la défaite d’Eugenie Bouchard hier, une grande page du tennis québécois et canadien s’est tournée, alors qu’elle avait annoncé que l’Omnium Banque Nationale serait son dernier tournoi en carrière. Sylvain Bruneau a eu le privilège de l'entraîner lors de son dernier tour de piste. Il se souvient encore de sa première rencontre avec la jeune Eugénie, alors que Bouchard n’avait que neuf ans. Bruneau avait été étonnée de sa soif d’apprendre et de sa capacité à s’améliorer rapidement. Il rappelle aussi qu’à l’époque, c’était difficile de percer sur la scène internationale pour une jeune joueuse de tennis canadienne, n’ayant pas de grands modèles. Bouchard a véritablement pavé la voie pour la prochaine génération, souligne Sylvain Bruneau! Les championnats du monde aquatiques de Singapour battent leur plein depuis le 14 juillet dernier. Alex Despatie, ancien plongeur québécois, est avec nous pour faire le point. Bien évidemment, comment ne pas aborder le cas de Summer McIntosh, avec déjà trois médailles d’or remportées dans la compétition. Despatie souligne qu’il a adoré la réaction de McIntosh lors de sa victoire de jeudi au 200m papillon, alors que malgré le fait qu’elle soit championne du monde, elle semblait légèrement agacée de ne pas avoir pu battre le record de tous les temps. McIntosh en veut toujours plus et cela, c’est la marque d’une grande athlète, selon Despatie. La LSHL, Living Sisu, est-ce que cela vous sonne une cloche? Si vous êtes un partisan fini du hockey, probablement ! La LSHL est une ligue de pros estivale, qui présente deux matchs par semaine, dans leur division féminine et masculine. Ghosting Bewerbung – Funkstille, wo eigentlich der ersehnte Anruf kommen sollte. Fast jeder Bewerber kennt das beklemmende Gefühl, wenn die Mailbox leer bleibt und im Posteingang nur Stille herrscht. In dieser Episode erfährst du, warum selbst Top-Unternehmen manchmal abtauchen – und wie du die Situation zu deinem Vorteil drehst.   Der Begriff „Ghosting“ steht für den völligen Kommunikationsabbruch im Bewerbungsprozess. Häufig geschieht das direkt nach dem Versand deiner Unterlagen, manchmal allerdings erst nach dem zweiten Gespräch und gelegentlich sogar nach einem zugesagten Vertragsentwurf. Wichtig: In den meisten Fällen steckt kein böser Wille dahinter, sondern schlicht Prioritätenchaos.   Ursache #1 – Recruiting ist oft kein Kernprozess. Viele Firmen konzentrieren sich zunächst auf Produktion, Kundenprojekte und Umsatz. Fällt der Ansprechpartner aus, brennt ein Kundenprojekt an oder stirbt eine Mailbox mangels Pflege ab, rutscht dein Dossier blitzschnell auf die Ersatzbank. Dennoch habe ich erlebt, dass ein späteres Nachhaken trotz anfänglichem Ghosting zum Job führte – denn am Ende war schlicht niemand zuständig gewesen.   Heißt das automatisch, das Unternehmen sei schlecht? Keineswegs. Selbst Konzerne mit Hochglanz-Karriereseite haben Lücken im Bewerbermanagement. Deshalb solltest du Ghosting weniger als Abwertung begreifen, sondern als Signal, das du aktiv beantworten kannst.   Zunächst gilt: Beuge Funkstille vor, bevor du klickst. Suche den persönlichen Draht zum HR-Manager oder Abteilungsleiter. Ein kurzer Anruf schafft Namen, Prozessklarheit und Vertrauen. Je weniger anonym du bist, desto schwerer fällt das Ghosten.   Danach heißt es: Bleib in Bewegung. Notiere vereinbarte Fristen, setze Reminder und melde dich höflich wenige Tage vor Ablauf: „Wie angekündigt wollte ich einmal nachhören …“. Weil 95 % aller Bewerber darauf verzichten, stehst du sofort in der Pole-Position.   Zudem lohnt sich ein Blick ins Netzwerk. LinkedIn und Xing zeigen dir, wer intern sitzt. Ein ehemaliger Kommilitone kann diskret herausfinden, ob der Fachvorgesetzte gerade im Projekteinsatz steckt oder die HR-Software streikt. So holst du deine Bewerbung aus dem virtuellen Papierkorb.   Gerade im Mittelstand wirkt persönliches Erscheinen Wunder. Viele Chefs schätzen diesen proaktiven Schritt – besonders, wenn im Tagesgeschäft E-Mails untergehen. Ein kurzer Besuch am Empfang verschafft dir häufig sofortiges Feedback.   Außerdem solltest du das Ghosting-Signal analysieren. Vielleicht deckt es chaotische Prozesse auf – ein Thema, das du als künftiger Mitarbeiter sogar lösen kannst. Oder du stellst fest, dass permanentes Durcheinander nicht zu dir passt. Beide Erkenntnisse sind wertvoll.   Fazit: Höfliche Hartnäckigkeit schlägt Schweigen. Nutze klare Übergänge, stelle Verbindungen her und verwandle Funkstille in deinen Karriereturbo. Damit wird Ghosting Bewerbung nicht zum Karriere-Killer, sondern zur Bühne für deinen Auftritt.

Here are some deets fresh off the Croisette from the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity—basically the ad industry's Oscars but also the global epicenter of brand culture—that happened in mid-June. Brands, marketers, ad agencies, tech companies, platforms, people from entertainment and sports, and anyone and everyone part of the brand world ecosystem were there. To make sense of it all, or at least a good portion of it, I called up Tim Nudd, creativity editor at Ad Age and a journalist who's been covering and commenting on this industry for longer than almost anyone. In a conversation that included inside scoops, gossip, and good stories, Nudd and I talked about what impressed him most, what surprised him, and what he's hearing we can expect from major brands heading into the second half of the year. Then, I really wanted to find out how Expensify landed the real estate on Brad Pitt's chest for the new blockbuster film F1. Expensify's chief financial officer Ryan Schaffer, and Hannes Ciatti, founder and head creative at ad agency Alto, gave me the inside story of how the brand got such a prominent role, including a scene in which they shoot an Expensify commercial in the film. This is getting under the hood on 1,000-horsepower product placement.

Juni 1925 erfahren, das Interesse nicht nur der unmittelbaren Anrainer auf sich zogen. Mit dabei beim polaren Ringen um die Bodenschätze (wie bei allen genannten Folgen) waren, Überraschung, auch schon in den letzten Zwanziger Jahren die US-Amerikaner. Dank ihres großen Forschers Amundsen in der Pole Position befand sich allerdings ein damals als Land noch sehr rohstoffarmer Konkurrent: Norwegen. Geschichte wiederholt sich so ganz halt doch nicht. In the 1960s, it manufactured electro-mechanical arcade games such as the 1965 hit Periscope. It entered the video game industry after acquiring the struggling Japanese division of Atari in 1974, distributing games such as Breakout in Japan. The company renamed itself Namco in 1977 and published Gee Bee, its first original video game, a year later. Among Namco's first major hits was the fixed shooter Galaxian in 1979. It was followed by Pac-Man in 1980. Steve Zautke bridges both the oval world and the road world, which are coming closer and closer together. He is a native of Milwaukee, got involved with the Milwaukee Mile at a very young age. His father was a filmmaker and a fan and participated in the events there, organizing them and helping out. He is an author and published a book on Road America.
