Our fight expert, Zane Simon & his co-hort Eddie Mercado are back to breakdown the UFC Vegas 52: ‘Lemos vs Andrade' Fight Night event! The UFC showcased a Strawweight bout this weekend at their UFC Vegas 52 Fight Night event featuring a battle between Jéssica ‘Bate Estaca' (translation: ‘Pile Driver') Andrade and Amanda ‘Amandinha' Lemos. Former Strawweight Champion, Andrade, after a two-fight departure into the flyweight division, returned to her favorite division with a vengeance. Fighting by way of Vegas, the Brazilian bjj expert, currently ranked #6 in the women's pound-for-pound rankings, with a 22-9 record aimed to put an end to Lemos' five-fight win streak. Fellow Brazilian Lemos, was currently ranked #10 in the division, with a 11-1 record, and was determined to leave the octagon victorious once again. There was a co-main event prior to that, and it was between Claudio Puelles and Clay Guida; yes, he is still fighting. Oh yeah, there were nine other bouts on the card which were a mixed bag, including some exciting finishes. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are BACK tonight – Sat, Oct 23rd, to breakdown the UFC Vegas 41 ‘Paulo Costa vs. Marvin Vettori' event. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. (SPOILERS...) This afternoon the UFC brought us yet another (the 9th in a row actually) Fight Night card from the smaller octagon at the APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, airing LIVE on ESPN+. The UFC Vegas 41 event showcased top-ranked MW Championship foes, Paulo ‘The Eraser' Costa, (No. 2), & ‘The Italian Dream' Marvin Vettori, (No. 5). Neither combatant had fought since their defeats at the hands of Israel Adesanya at UFC 263 & UFC 253, respectively. The main event contest became a 205lbs catchweight/LHW bout just a few days ago, when “The Eraser” failed to make weight. This brawl became an instant classic. Costa was warned about his hands more than once & had a point removed for an early eye-poke in the 2nd Rd. We got a solid 5 rds of action, pressure, blows, strikes & aggression from both men. After all of that, the judges decided Vettori was the unanimous victor, it was close, but this felt like the right call. Prior to that, our LW Co-Main event today had Grant ‘KGD' Dawson enter the Octagon on an 8-fight win streak against Rick/y ‘The Gladiator' Glenn. In a solid back-n-forth effort from both men, it went the distance resulting in the judges deciding on a Majority Draw, which is always a major bummer for everyone involved. On the 8-fight prelims card, our featured prelim won FOTN for the overall event -- Gregory Rodrigues proved victorious with a standing TKO via punches in the 2nd Rd over Jun Yong Park. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Dayne Fox, are here tonight – Sat, June 26th, to breakdown the UFC VEGAS 30: Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov Fight Night event, which was broadcast from the UFC APEX Center in Las Vegas, NV. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. Returning to the down-sized APEX octagon for the main event, we had a Heavyweight tilt between the #3 ranked, former TKO Heavyweight Champion, Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin' Gane, with an impressive undefeated 8-0 record for an up-and-comer, including defeats against Rozenstruik, JDS and Boser; and his opponent tonight being the #5 ranked, former M-1 Global & Bellator MMA Champion, The Russian contender Alexander ‘Drago' Volkov; who was coming off victories over Overeem and Walt Harris, both in the second round. Gane was the slight favorite going into this bout, with a lot of believers thinking he is on his way to title contention. In the co-main event, we had a Light Heavyweight contest featuring, ‘OSP' – Ovince St. Preux, aka: ‘Von Preux choke' specialist, an unorthodox fighter, who was coming at this bout off a loss to Jamahal Hill last December. His opponent in this bout was Tanner ‘The Bulldozer' Boser; the Canadian brawler had a decent 19-8 record, but was coming into the octagon tonight off of two losses to Ilir Latifi and Andrei Arlovski since last winter. Also on the card, Timur ‘Lucky' Valiev won a hard fought battle to the decision against Raoni Barcelos, making him having won three contests in three weight classes. We also had an exciting Featherweight clash when Andre ‘Touchy' Fili went up against Daniel ‘The Pit' Pineda, in a brawl that ended when Fili accidentally let his hand slip off the chest of Pineda resulting in an accidental eye poke so severe it ended the bout in a NO CONTEST, which was a shame because Fili was en route to likely winning that bout later in the second round.
