In this episode, Nancy Griffin welcomes author and SuperAgerSusan Salinger to discuss the hidden barriers women face regarding health and aging. Sue shares her journey of research, personal stories, and practical advice for women to prioritize their well-being, dismantle stigma, and embrace later life with purpose and connection.About SusanSusan Salenger is a non-fiction writer, an avid reader, and a passionate foodie with a particular love for dark chocolate. For more than 25 years, she and her husband owned Salenger Films, a company that produced and distributed corporate training films worldwide. Her book, Sidelined: How Women Can Navigate a Broken Healthcare System, was published by She Writes Press on April 12, 2022. The book explores the barriers women face inobtaining the best possible medical care. Salenger examines the persistent gender bias within the healthcare system and the ways in which women are often treated differently from men. Even in recent years, inequities remain.Sue also addresses the internal barriers many women face.Women frequently put their own health behind the needs of their families, and some experience guilt when they become ill, which can influence critical medical decisions and lead to regret. Through extensive research and in-depth interviews, she uncovers the emotional conflicts many women experience when navigating complex healthcare choices.Sidelined includes a comprehensive resource directory offering services and support to help women determine the best path forward for their healthcare needs.Key Takeaways:Self-blame and shame impact women's health decisions. Women often withhold illness due to stigma and cultural expectations. They are ashamed to go to the doctor and embarrassed to ask questions. For many diseases, women have different symptomsfrom men. Autoimmune diseases and Illnesses like heart attacks and chronic pain often have had trouble getting diagnosed. The doctor says “It's all in your head” because there is no data to support women's symptoms, which reinforces women's proclivity to blame themselves. This creates a vicious circle. Many times, Illnesses are random, but we tend to give disease a meaning. There are alcoholics that don't have a liver problem and people with lung cancer that have never smoked. De-stigmatization is the first step on the road to transparency and health. Self-advocacy and soliciting second opinions in critical to navigate a broken healthcare system. Do your research. Understand your diagnosis. Get a second opinion. Social connections, purpose, and community are paramount for mental and physical health. Find something that gives you self-satisfaction and makes you feel good about yourself. Prioritize meaningful connection.

Newly released Department of Justice files and internal emails show that just **five days after Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on federal sex-trafficking charges in July 2019, federal authorities — including the FBI in coordination with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York — ordered the New York Police Department Special Victims Unit (SVU) to “stand down” its own investigations into Epstein and related matters. The directive reportedly came via outreach from the FBI to NYPD leadership, instructing that all Epstein-related investigative work from that point forward was to be handled through federal channels, effectively sidelining the NYPD's specialized child exploitation investigators. At the time, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office also had its own parallel inquiry underway, but the communication suggested that any further NYPD actions should defer to federal leadership.Emails among federal agents indicated that the motivation for the stand-down order was concern about overlapping cases and the perception of “competing investigations,” particularly after the DA's office reached out to a victim for interview amid the unfolding federal prosecution. The directive applied specifically to SVU — the unit trained to handle sex crimes and child abuse cases — and essentially shut out local detectives from pursuing additional leads or interviewing witnesses independently once Epstein was in federal custody. Internal discussions later suggested that NYPD's Epstein inquiry was effectively closed or deferred to the FBI, limiting the department's role despite its expertise in handling such cases. Epstein died in federal custody about a month later, ending the immediate criminal prosecution, though federal and local authorities continued to coordinate on related matters.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Revealed: FBI told NYPD to 'stand down' probe into Jeffrey Epstein - Alternet.org

This episode of the CommQuest Hope Discovered podcast features a deeply personal conversation between Dr. Michele Heberling, Chief Clinical Officer at CommQuest, and board member Nicole Morrett. Together, they explore what it means to be “suddenly sidelined” by illness and physical limitations following the birth of Nicole's son. Nicole shares her journey and how those experiences disrupted her expectations of early motherhood, career, and independence. The discussion centers on the emotional toll of grieving the life she had envisioned and advocating for herself during an unexpected season of vulnerability.Throughout the podcast, Nicole reflects on how faith, gratitude, and community support helped her reframe this difficult season—not as a permanent loss, but as a time for growth, deeper connection, and intentional presence. She speaks candidly about learning to accept help, redefining strength, and finding joy in small, meaningful moments with her family.Dr. Heberling highlights the clinical and human importance of honoring grief, pacing oneself, and maintaining dignity and identity while healing. The episode ultimately offers hope and encouragement to listeners facing sudden diagnoses or life-altering changes, reminding them that while the pain is real, there is goodness to be found, support to be embraced, and hope both in the present moment and beyond.

Guest: Ronald White. Chamberlain's early war experience included the massacre at Fredericksburg and a smallpox outbreak that sidelined his regiment. Under the tutelage of the disciplinarian Adelbert Ames, Chamberlain learned command strategies. The narrative culminates at the Battle of Gettysburg, where the 20th Maine was ordered to hold the extreme left flank at Little Round Top "at all cost." Facing overwhelming Confederate forces and running out of ammunition, Chamberlain ordered a desperate, unconventional bayonet charge to sweep down the hill. In the chaos, he saved his own life by physically disarming a Confederate officer pointing a pistol at his head.1863 GETTYSBURG
Today's Headlines: In Portland, Customs and Border Patrol agents shot two people during a vehicle stop — both were hospitalized, the FBI is now on scene, and DHS says it was “targeted.” In Minneapolis, the Trump administration continues to fully defend the ICE officer who killed Renee Good. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced the FBI is taking over the investigation, cutting Minnesota out of access to its own evidence, while insisting the officer followed his training. Governor Tim Walz pushed back hard, accusing ICE of raiding a nearby school and using chemical agents on school grounds, forcing closures and prompting him to warn protesters to stay peaceful as the administration appears eager to escalate. Vice President JD Vance then took the podium to claim the ICE officer has absolute immunity, shame the media for portraying Good as innocent, and argue the officer's past injury explains his behavior. Public pressure is starting to land: Avelo Airlines is cutting ties with ICE and shutting down its Arizona base, while Hilton dropped a Minneapolis-area franchise after it refused to host ICE agents. The Epstein saga keeps unraveling, with House Oversight approving subpoenas for Les Wexner and Epstein's estate executors, and lawmakers pushing for a special master to force DOJ compliance on the files. On Venezuela, Trump has sidelined intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard, Senate Republicans advanced a War Powers resolution to curb further military action, and Trump responded by calling for those senators to be voted out. Elsewhere in chaos, Trump floated buying $200 billion in mortgage bonds, Warner Bros. rejected Paramount again in favor of Netflix, the White House may add an entire story to the West Wing for “symmetry,” and the UK is openly considering banning X over Grok-generated deepfake porn. This episode of the Hope Discovered podcast explores the often-overlooked mental and emotional impact of being suddenly sidelined by injury or illness.CommQuest CEO, Elaine Russell Reolfi, shares her personal experience of recovering from a severe ankle injury and the unexpected psychological toll of immobility, loss of independence, and disrupted routines. The panel offers practical guidance for patients and loved ones, including pacing oneself, setting realistic expectations, maintaining routines, using grounding and relaxation techniques, asking for help, and communicating honestly with healthcare providers. They stress the importance of self-compassion, support systems, and seeking professional mental health care when warning signs like withdrawal, hopelessness, or feeling like a burden emerge. This episode of the CommQuest Hope Discovered Podcast reassures listeners that healing is an active process, rest is productive, and caring for the mind is essential to caring for the body.

THE MAP OF WAR AND THE KORDT CONNECTION Colleague Charles Spicer. In early 1938, as Sir Robert Vansittart was sidelined for the appeaser Horace Wilson, the amateur spies continued to provide highly accurate intelligence regarding Hitler's expansionist plans. Graham Christie obtained specific military details from his "friend" Hermann Göring, while Philip Conwell-Evans relied on the Kordt brothers—diplomats embedded in the Germanembassy who secretly opposed the Nazis. This network provided London with a clear map of Hitler's intentions for Austria and Czechoslovakia, and during the "May Crisis," their intelligence contributed to a rare moment of allied coordination that temporarily forced Hitler to back down, frustrating the dictator. 1938: Accurate Warnings and the May Crisis: Colleague Charles Spicer explains that in early 1938, as Vansittart was sidelined, Christie continued to extract "spookily accurate" war plans from Göring, providing London with a clear map of Hitler's intentions; introducing the Kordt brothers, diplomats in the German embassy who served as vital conduits for resistance intelligence, the segment concludes with the "May Crisis," where intelligence provided by the protagonists regarding a potential attack on Czechoslovakia may have forced Hitler to temporarily back down, demonstrating the effectiveness of the amateur spies' network. 1933

The Mac Saturn guys are back and making a racket! It was great to reconnect with Carson, Angelo, Mike, and Ian.The band has had an unusual start. Sidelined by the pandemic, then, a now ex-member sentenced to jail for child porn, the guys are focused on another chance to prove they belong in the big leagues, on the big stages. They sat down with me earlier this week to discuss everything happening with Mac Saturn..."It's Been A Hell Of A Year"With all that's happened in the past, I just asked them: How's the state of the band? Singer, Carson Macc said, "Well, it's been one hell of a year, year and a half, I'd say. We've spent a lot of time together. You know, we've been brought closer as brothers, and we've been doing a lot of writing. We've got a lot of new songs that we're trying out on stage, as well as the songs from Hard to Sell that we still love playing. And we're just trying to push our sound, push ourselves, and push each other to be the best we can be. And we're excited to bring that back to people. But, it's been quite a year." Bassist Ian Lukas piped in on how much they've been inspired. "It's been such a terrific period for really being inspired by our audience. Really plotting, you know, what we want to come back with, what kind of, like, direction we want to go come back with. And we're just super psyched with how it's going so far."The guys have primarily been playing smaller shows to get back in the groove. Something that Carson said is a chance to connect with the fans. "People were playing to, these crowds that are extremely engaged. And we get to engage with every single person. We kind of lost that a little bit in some of the shows when we opened for Dirty Honeyand the Struts, obviously, at that level. You know, there's a few people in the back that you can't really make eye contact with. But on these shows we've been playing, we are connecting with every single person in the club. And it's an exciting thing for us. And it really is informing us a lot on the songs that we've been working."Working With Al Sutton, Herschel Boone, and Marlon YoungThe guys are no strangers to Rust Belt studio, helmed by the legendary Al Sutton. I asked what it's like to work with him. "Well, I will say, you know, Al is a big part of it. But Marlon Young and Herschel Boone. The other two guys. You know, Marlon's definitely in the music world and in the guitar world. And Herschel, me, and Herschel, definitely lock in on the vocals. And he works with the guys on the backgrounds. He gets these guys to sound like a 35-piece choir on the background." Carson went on, "It's crazy. So I would say it's definitely a team effort. But Al is just so passionate. And he is so, he's matured so much since we've even started working with him. And the process that we have with him now, there's so much trust involved. And there's such a free communication that he really lets us bring in ideas and see where they lead to. And, you know, he reaches out to people that he knows and tries to get them involved as well."For those who don't know, Marlon and Herschel have been in Kid Rock's Twisted Brown Trucker band for over two decades.Being A Detroit BandI asked the guys about representing Detroit rock abroad. Guitarist Mike Moody said, "We're so proud of Detroit. And it's such a cool conversation starter, too, because we are repping it as much as we possibly can. So I think a lot of people have really cool experiences with something that they love from Detroit. And we love talking about that."Angelo piped in, "Everyone's got some artists they love from Detroit. He said that even a city like Nashville has many musicians from this area. "Well, I think we wouldn't be who we are without where we are always. You know, we're very in tune with our environment, just all the guys in general. And I think a real, true no frills band has to be affected by where they are, you know? And I'm just so thankful that it's this city because what can be combined in this city, not only music-wise, but style-wise, vibe-wise, energy-wise, hustle-wise, what you can combine here, you can only do here. It's one of one place, and it makes us want to be one of one. And I, you know, as much as I owe everything to the band and the producers and everything, we owe just as much to the city for making us want to be who we are and want to be a Detroit thing," said Carson.Ian chimed in, "It's a privilege to be a part of the music scene in Detroit, and take that on the road."Playing Saint Andrew's Hall On November 15thIt's a big show for the boys, as drummer Angelo Coppala explained, "It's my dad's birthday. There's a lot going on. We got to kill it. We got to do it. So we're excited for that. And we've got our eyes on that target. But it's all, it all feels like the first time. But it's also like the first time with all the knowledge that you have. So we're really excited to take different steps than we did last time when we were kind of at this point."I'm glad the boys are back. They're good dudes, and I hope this time they're around for a long time!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The graft and corruption is not just massive, it's a traditional way of shaping society. A look back to how major economic bills were pushed. Joe Biden as VP pushed stimulus. When Nancy was more coherent, and Obama worked his magic. The start of illegal labor imports. It was also the start of staged protests. Nothing has changed. The big money began moving in 2009. Sidelined and re-routed. Screw your heroism, save the country. The continuity of government bill directing the operating code. It's all about transparency and massive data. Where did all that money go? Primarily academic institutions. They did all kinds of evil. Protest riots are not organic. Codifying protests and dissent into useful data. In 2013 Smith-Mundt protections were relaxed. Denver is a major hub. The CCC is Crowd Counting Consortium. Erica Chenowith got big checks. The architecture of visibility means it has market value. Your taxes paid the blue haired tranny rioters. Getting credit is not important. It's all a well imbeded operation, so be aware and never stop watching.
