To nie mogło się udać. Nie było żadnego sprzętu, żadnej remizy, żadnych tradycji strażackich. Nie było nikogo kto nauczyłby przyszłych strażaków ratownictwa. A jednak. W kuźni w Kiełczewicach zrobiono bosaki, hełmy były ze skóry a pierwszy zbiornik wody, który służył do gaszenia pożarów to stulitrowa beczka po kapuście. Tak w 1916 roku zaczynała się ponad stuletnia historia Ochotniczej Straży Pożarnej wKiełczewicach i Strzyżewicach w powiecie lubelskim, którejzałożycielem był rotmistrz Roman Okulicz-Kozaryn. Jej powstanie było przykrywką do działalności Polskiej Organizacji Wojskowej. Straż, poza funkcją ratowniczą, pełniła także rolę wychowawczą i patriotyczną, szkoląc mieszkańców. Stała się ważnym ośrodkiem życia społecznego i kulturalnego wsi. Szczególnymsymbolem jest krzyż założycielski, przy którym odbywały siępierwsze zbiórki. Ciekawe losy straży to również okres PRL-u, o którym opowiadają członkowie OSP, pełniący służbę często od kilku pokoleń. W audycji głos zabierają: Ferdynand Rymarz - ze Strzyżewickiego Towarzystwa Regionalnego, sędzia Trybunału Konstytucyjnego w stanie spoczynku, autor książki,która ma być wydana na początku lipca 2026 pt. „Ochotnicza Straż Pożarna w Strzyżewicach. The OSP says it will challenge a High Court ruling that bars it from initiating criminal prosecutions without the express authorization of the Attorney General, describing the decision as a threat to its independence and anti-corruption mandate.

The AG is moving to take over all criminal cases being handled by the Office of the OSP after a High Court ruling held that the OSP lacked authorization from the AG to prosecute a case independently.
