The latest from the alt-rock legends may not quite be a good as their excellent (and ignored) previous album but it's still got enough to suggest fuel remains in Isaac Brock's tank - I've upgraded to an 8/10 as it's a grower.
Heb jij tips die ons kunnen helpen om Arnold Schwarzenegger in onze podcast te mogen verwelkomen? Laat het ons weten :-) Deze keer bespreken we de films Eraser en Collateral Damage. Wat is jouw favoriet??

How can the same element make both pencil lead and diamonds? This week we wrap up our pencil chemistry mini-series by answering a surprisingly tricky question: how do erasers actually erase? Then we dive into one of chemistry's coolest ideas. Graphite and diamond are both made entirely of carbon, but one is soft enough to write with and the other is the hardest natural material we know. What changed? The answer reveals something remarkable about chemistry, structure, and the hidden world of atoms. Inspired by Pitchfork, Jay presents a question. What's your perfect 10 album? The guys discuss their picks. Jay chose Paul's Boutique by the Beastie Boys, Nick went with In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel, and Greg landed on his first perfect 10 album, Nevermind by Nirvana. You can check out the 240 artists that responded over on Pitchfork: https://pitchfork.com/features/240-artists-on-their-perfect-10-albums/Song: Beastie Boys - “Shake Your Rump”It's News with Nick! Apparently it was news to Nick that in 2009, when Thom Yorke was assembling a band to perform songs from his solo record Eraser, he enlisted Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to play bass! In more recent news, the Kennedy Center retains it's original name and independent music platform Nina Protocol is shutting down in July.Song: Flea - “Traffic Lights (feat Thom Yorke)”Friend of the show, Nate Kalwicki, was recently awarded a mortgage free home by the amazing folks at A Soldier's Journey Home. An Afghanistan veteran, Nate lost his right leg in an ambush and met Greg while recuperating at Walter Reed Hospital. Listeners may remember that he's now the guitarist for The Resilient. The band got to perform at the celebration and Greg gives us a play-by-play on “Tales From the Concert.”Song: Aphex Twin - “Window Licker”
Host Scott is joined by special returning guest Adam Thornton (Films That Time Forgot) to talk about the now semi-forgotten Arnie flick "Eraser."Over the course of the episode Scott and Adam discuss what makes this the last Classic Arnie Era film, why this was a hit at the time but seems to faded from memory now and debate whether "Eraser" had franchise potential. Plus, we get into how director Chuck Russell deals with the action in his first large scale action flick (his background being horror and comedy), theorise why Vanessa Williams didn't get more action roles and extol the virtues of James Caan as the villain. Check out Films That Time Forgot here"All '90s Action, All The Time" is Produced & Edited by Scott Murphy. Music by Elyssa Vulpes.

Dust off your leather jackets, practice your best slow-motion walk, and get ready for an absolutely stacked episode! This week on The DizRadio Show we are diving deep into the world of Hollywood grit, legendary action, and the art of playing the characters you love to hate. We are thrilled to welcome the ultimate cinematic powerhouse, PATRICK KILPATRICK. If you've watched an action movie in the last few decades, you know his face, you know his presence, and you've definitely cheered (or cringed) at his iconic villainy! Patrick Kilpatrick has gone toe-to-toe with the absolute Mount Rushmore of action cinema. We're talking about trading blows and sharing scenes with Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and James Caan, just to name a few! He takes us behind the scenes of some of his most memorable projects, including Death Warrant, Showdown, Minority Report, Eraser, Best of the Best, The Toxic Avenger and Dying for Living as well as going family friendly in the Free Willy series. He also talks writing and producing. Later in the show, Jonathan from the D-Team drops behind the mic for a fascinating deep dive into the psychology of cinema. Jonathan breaks down exactly why cinematic villains impact us so deeply and stay with us long after the credits roll. Why do we remember the bad guys? How does a truly talented actor balance the scales to play both the ultimate monster and the ultimate hero? We're dissecting the thin line between good and evil on the silver screen! So enjoy the Nostalgia, the Magic, the Wonder, and the Memories with The DizRadio Show "A Pop Culture Celebrity Guest Show"!

Andrea is back to talk about the lore behind everyone's favorite sensei in my hero academia!
Chuck Russell, the legendary director behind The Mask, The Blob, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, joins us in the Crypt to talk about the wild ride of his illustrious Hollywood career – from nearly directing Child's Play and almost turning The Mask into a horror film, to working with Jim Carrey, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Frank Darabont – and to promote his newest film Witchboard.Chuck opens up about UFO encounters, the paranormal, near-death experiences, and the forces that might be influencing Hollywood from behind the curtain. He breaks down practical effects, dream research, faith, simulation theory, and what it really means to create from both sides of the veil.He also discusses his early years breaking into the industry, performing stunts, and writing screenplays in 1980s Hollywood. Chuck shares his views on the “Horror Ghetto,” why he declined Child's Play, and how he feels about the later Nightmare on Elm Street sequels. —Subscribe: youtube.com/@TalksFromTheCryptFollow On Social Media –Talks From The Crypt: https://instagram.com/talksfromthecrypt https://talksfromthecrypt.com Witchboard:https://witchboardmovie2025.com—00:00:00 - Intro00:00:31 - Nightmare On Elm Street Pt. 3: Dream Warriors, Dreamscape, Frank Darabont, Hell Night, and The Blob00:11:46 - Starting Out In Hollywood, Putting Yourself Into Screenplays, Working Stunts with Arnold Schwarzenegger00:21:16 - Hollywood Is Changing, Movie Theaters, The Mask Was Originally A Horror Film, Working With Jim Carrey, and Chuck's Back Up Actors if Jim Said No to the Role, A Sequel to The Mask?00:40:45 - Putting New Actors on the Map (Patricia Arquette and Cameron Diaz), How Chuck Feels About Nightmare on Elm St. Sequels, The "Horror Ghetto," Why He Declined the Offer To Direct Child's Play00:49:12 - Bless The Child, Writing Good And Evil, Pure Despair, Mistrust for Authority00:56:25 - Eraser with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Working With CIA Advisors, Does The Government Control Hollywood? Send us a textIn this episode we are joined by two special guests, Steve Ford (the youngest son of President and Mrs. Ford) and adoptee Thuy Williams to mark the 50th anniversary of Operation Babylift, the frantic evacuation ordered by U.S. President Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum, commissioned filmmaker Dirk Braun to create the documentary short film, Operation Babylift: 50 Years Later: 1975-2025, A Celebration of the Human Spirit.Steve Ford has enjoyed a remarkable acting career spanning over 40 years, with appearances in more than 800 hours of film and television productions. 0:00:00–0:15:00 — Live intro, celeb 9/11 near-miss chatter, and a “haunted” vending machine We kick off live and riff on the lore that Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane “conveniently” didn't get on a 9/11 flight — “lucky guys,” then: “let's get this dooming going.” First Video of the Day: the “haunted vending machine” dispensing retro sodas (Texas Red, New Coke, Russian Pepsi), unlabeled buttons that all read “mystery,” and a 2018 disappearance with a note: “went for a walk.” 0:15:00–0:30:00 — Wheel drama, pepper-spray role-play, and “Einstein's wife” The wheel gives us zero points and we riff on the scoring. Sam runs a pepper-spray mugging role-play: “If I'm a robber… let's role play.” Hot take detour: “Einstein's wife wrote everything,” plus more headline-surfing. 0:30:00–0:45:00 — Eden as a “human zoo,” geoengineering clip, and Pinocchio as programming We chew on a theory that Gan/Paradeisos (Eden) was a controlled enclosure — a literal fenced compound. A geoengineering quick-hit claims nano-aluminum exposure — and the chat starts buzzing. Then a wild breakdown of Pinocchio as an esoteric “conditioning manual.” 0:45:00–1:00:00 — Quantum eraser brain-melt and the Max Headroom hijack The delayed-choice quantum eraser: change the which-path info after detection and you flip the pattern — “it knows the future.” Caller segment: the 1987 Chicago Max Headroom TV hijack — pirate transmitters, radio-school lore, and a mysterious “Zapruder frequency” email. Theory time: it may've piggybacked a Cold-War emergency visual channel. 1:00:00–1:15:00 — Reincarnation receipts and what it does to a kid We retell the “Soul Survivor” case: Natoma Bay, pilot James M. Houston Jr., and the book that followed. Then we sit with the human side — night terrors and the idea we “keep doing it over until we get it right.” 1:15:00–1:30:00 — Skinwalker doom-camping to close Final clip: a guy taunts a Skinwalker, hears cries outside his tent, and… goes deeper into the cursed forest (of course). He stumbles on eerie figurines and crosses hanging from trees; the dread spikes. Horror master Chuck Russell — the director behind A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Blob, The Mask, Eraser, and The Scorpion King — returns to the genre with Witchboard (2025). In this Talking Strange interview, Russell opens up to host Aaron Sagers about his own beliefs in the supernatural, his hands-on research into pendulum boards, and his personal paranormal experiences. He also discusses bringing Witchboard's story of possession, deception, and dark forces in New Orleans to life, and what it means to step back into horror after decades of iconic filmmaking — and doing so in a whole new entertainment landscape. Whether you're a fan of his cult classics or curious about real-life ghost stories, this conversation dives into the fascinating overlap between Russell's filmmaking and the paranormal.Have you ever used a Ouija Board? First, it's National Rubber Eraser Day! So get your Pink Pearls out and celebrate!!Then, we continue our conversation with Dr. Nicole Joseph of Vanderbilt University about the mathematical experiences of Black girls, revealing how they navigate spaces where they face unique challenges at the intersection of race and gender. Her research shows that Black girls are disproportionately affected by school disciplinary policies while simultaneously battling stereotypes about who belongs in mathematics.Joseph's Black Feminist Math Pedagogies framework offers a revolutionary approach to mathematics education that honors both academic rigor and social connection. She challenges traditional notions of what "serious" math learning looks like, showing how Black girls thrive in environments that allow for laughter, collaboration, and relationship-building alongside challenging problem-solving. This transformative approach requires teachers to create classroom communities where critical conversations about justice and equity can flourish. One message resonates clearly: curriculum alone cannot address educational inequities. Creating truly inclusive mathematics classrooms requires teachers who understand the complexities of students' identities and design learning environments where all students feel they belong.
