Garry is the General Manager of Inspire9 Footscray, located at The Dream Factory (former Lonely Planet building) in his own neighbourhood coincidentally! As the former Partnerships and Community Engagement person for General Assembly in Australia, Garry’s role at GA entailed exploring meaningful business development opportunities through strategic & creative partnerships with innovative companies and individuals throughout the tech, business and creative sectors. Now, in his new role with Inspire9, he is seeking to engage with the Inner West community and wider Melbourne in order to advocate for positive community engagement opportunities, growth through education and helping Melbourne & Australia prosper through an open mind and a purposeful approach to life with an emphasis on raising digital and community literacy and in turn steering individuals to build businesses that people will love. Garry has years of experience in Digital Marketing and eCommerce marketing strategy and operations, covering everything from content marketing to local marketing activations, from advertising to SEO, and a long history of customer service experience. As an advocate for non-traditional career pathways and pursuing work with passion, purpose and meaning, Garry has recently been involved in building up the FuckUp Nights meetup in Australia, highlighting stories of failure and the wisdom and resilience gained from experiences in one's personal journey. With multiple projects on the go, interests in everything from storytelling to pop-culture and a belief in the power of placemaking and community activations, it is Garry's opinion that there is a place for creative misfits to transform the conventions of what a normal career looks like.
