With Christmas around the corner, John & Aaron take on an Action / Christmas CLASSIC giving their Lethal Weapon Reaction, Recap, Analysis, Breakdown, & Spoiler Review!! John Humphrey & Aaron Alexander diving into the buddy-cop classic that redefined action cinema and launched one of the most iconic duos in movie history. Directed by Richard Donner (Superman, The Goonies) and written by Shane Black (The Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), the film stars Mel Gibson (Braveheart, Mad Max) as Martin Riggs, an unpredictable, grief-stricken LAPD cop on the edge, and Danny Glover (The Color Purple, Predator 2) as Roger Murtaugh, a seasoned detective whose favorite phrase is “I'm too old for this…” Their partnership begins as pure chaos — but quickly becomes one of the most legendary pairings in action-comedy history. John & Aaron break down all the greatest moments: Riggs' death-defying sniper takedown, the wild Christmas tree lot shootout, Murtaugh's hostage bathtub scene, Riggs' emotional unraveling, the brutal lawn-sprinkler fistfight finale, and the film's surprising emotional core — the bond that forms between two men who desperately need someone to believe in. They explore how Lethal Weapon blends hard-edged action, sharp humor, and heartfelt character work to create a blueprint that influenced every buddy-cop movie for decades. Kae Carlson believes she will be killed on her twenty-sixth birthday, which is less than three weeks away. Through “Connie, Maxine, and Cathleen,” Kae’s other personalities, Dr. Mitchell learns that Kae was raped by the High Priest of a satanic cult on her thirteenth birthday. A miscarriage prevented her from delivering a baby to be sacrificed, so she must take its place. Having no other choice, Paula calls the police. Homicide Detective Jerry Riggs takes the call. Leads are scarce and witnesses disappear or die as Riggs and his partner hunt for cult members and the location where the sacrificial ceremony will take place. Time is short, breaks are few, and the cult members are getting more desperate. Can they save Kae?

Welcome to the Video Store Podcast. It's Christmas movie season but not everyone wants peppermint sweetness and cozy small-town charm. Some of us want our holiday movies filled with explosions, heists and a whole lot of chaos. This week on the Video Store Podcast, I'm spotlighting four Christmas movies that trade twinkling lights for trouble. Reindeer Games (2000)Reindeer Games is a crime thriller set days before Christmas. When Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck) is released from prison his only goal is to get home for Christmas. But when his cell-mate dies, Rudy steps into the man's shoes to meet his mysterious and beautiful pen pal, Ashley (Charlize Theron). One bad decision later and Rudy is trapped in a violent casino-robbery plot run by Ashley's unstable “brother,” Gabriel (Gary Sinise). With no options, Rudy is forced deeper into the operation and nothing is what it seems as alliances shift and lies are uncovered. Reindeer Games brings crime, plot twists and holiday mayhem together in one memorable movie.Batman Returns (1992)Tim Burton's Batman Returns is set against a dark, gothic backdrop of Gotham City during the Christmas season. Batman Returns introduces two iconic villains who become the city's newest threats. The first is Oswald Cobblepot, The Penguin, a physically deformed man who was abandoned by his wealthy parents and raised in the city's sewers by penguins. The second is Selina Kyle, Catwoman, pushed to her limit by evil businessman Max Shreck.Michelle Pfeiffer is the definitive Catwoman, seductive, broken and electric in every frame. Danny DeVito's Penguin is a grotesque and disfigured man, a departure from the comics. Christopher Walken adds a sinister element as the businessman Max Shreck.Tim Burton's vision partnered with Danny Elfman's haunting score creates a mesmerizing Christmas classic set in Gotham City. The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)Samantha Caine (Geena Davis) lives a quiet life as a schoolteacher until a car crash triggers memories of her past life as a deadly government assassin.Samantha hires private detective Mitch Hennessey (Samuel L. Jackson) to help her uncover her past and together they set out to find the truth. Their adventure is full of gunfights, treachery, and some of the best buddy-dynamic chemistry of the '90s. Davis transforms from warm suburban mom to hard-boiled operative with shocking believability and Jackson delivers one of his funniest, most charismatic roles.Written by Shane Black and directed by Renny Harlin, The Long Kiss Goodnight mixes holiday atmosphere with espionage to create one of the 90's most underrated action movies.Lethal Weapon (1987)Lethal Weapon redefined the buddy-cop genre and set the standard for all future buddy-cop movies. Set at Christmastime in Los Angeles, the movie pairs veteran detective Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) with newcomer Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson). Their investigation into a young woman's suspicious death spirals into a violent clash with drug traffickers and the psychotic Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey).Lethal Weapon is full of heart, which is what you want in a Christmas movie. Riggs who is spiraling out of control from grief and Murtaugh, a grounded family man, form a bond that is convincing from start to finish. Also written by Shane Black, Hollywood's king of Christmas action movies and directed by Richard Donner, Lethal Weapon blends holiday themes with explosive action, dark humor, and iconic one-liners. Lethal Weapon is on of my favorite Christmas action movies. If you're looking for Christmas movies that are filled with action, these four belong at the top of your December movie list. Thanks for visiting the Video Store. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas and can you hear what I hear? I hear it's after Thanksgiving now and I need to fit in some retro review of movies that could really be Christmas movies, just in an action movie's clothing. In this episode, we find “Lethal Weapon” first under the Christmas tree. I mean, the movie has a Christmas song playing over its opening credits for God sakes! “Lethal Weapon” was a surprise action hit in 1987 that paired Mel Gibson with Danny Glover as L.A. detectives Riggs and Murtaugh. The movie started a trend of hundreds of copycat buddy-cop movies faster than Santa deliver presents on Christmas. The “fun” starts in the movie when the daughter of an old Vietnam buddy of Murtaugh's is found dead. As Riggs and Murtaugh investigate into the death further, they uncover a network of bad little elves delivering drugs from overseas for all the bad little boys and girls. All this happening while Murtaugh has to deal with Riggs' reckless, death wish behavior over the death of his wife. Have a Holly Jolly Christmas with this movie! Is this a Christmas movie? Find out on this episode of Movies Merica! “Lethal Weapon” also stars Gary Busey, Mitchell Ryan, Tom Atkins, Darlene Love, Traci Wolfe, Jackie Swanson, Damon Hines, Ebonie Smith, Mary Ellen Trainor, Steve Kahan, Jack Thibeau, Grand L. Long before the trans athletes in women's sport debate became as toxic as it has, there was a far more jovial contest over the sporting supremacy of the genders called The Battle of the Sexes, with female tennis superstars taking on men in big televised exhibitions. Margaret Court lost to Bobby Riggs in the first back in 1973. Riggs then sensationally lost to Billie Jean-King later that same year, with a TV audience of 50 million.Riggs was by that time 55 years old, 26 years older than King. And then the great Martina Navratilova lost to Jimmy Connors in 1992, putting the debate to bed for good... until now. The world's number one in women's tennis, Aryna Sabalenka, will take on the world's number one in tennis tantrums, Nick Kyrgios, on the 28th of December in Dubai. Both of them join Piers Morgan to discuss the contest and more.Piers Morgan Uncensored is proudly independent and supported by: ExpressVPN: Right now you can get an extra four months of ExpressVPN for free. Today on the podcast, I'm joined by Rachel Riggs, author of In Good Health. As a former specialty food shop owner, Rachel's life dramatically changed due to chronic illness. Refocusing her work toward healing, she started developing anti-inflammatory recipes rooted in her California sensibilities. Rachel now lives with limited stamina and, despite that, wrote her cookbook with a focus on celebrating what's possible, flavorful, and aligned with her healing. Her mission is to inspire readers to transform their health and well-being through modern, vibrant food that excites the senses, rejuvenates the palate, and liberates readers from outdated habits. In Good Health features over 75 recipes designed for those with chronic illness, dietary restrictions, or anyone craving nutrient-dense, grounding, everyday food. Ingredients lists are short, prep times are reasonable, and each recipe includes a photo to guide readers with clarity and confidence. In This Episode We Talk About: How Rachel approaches cooking by celebrating what's included, not what's missing The art and challenge of baking with almond flour and maple syrup What it means to create dishes from scratch rather than adapting traditional recipes Her message for cooks and bakers navigating new dietary needs or chronic illness Why she encourages writers to create organically, long before a book deal Rachel's story is a powerful reminder that creativity and nourishment can flourish even in seasons of limitation. You can write a cookbook and rebuild a meaningful cooking life from exactly where you are. Things We Mention in This Episode: Cookbook Author Platform Checklist Rachel Riggs In Good Health

So, if you enjoy the topics Matt & John cover, you'll get those topics, plus relevant local guests, every Monday through Thursday on Happy Hour... so we highly recommend you check that out! Just how big of a win was South Dakota State's 34-31 thriller at North Dakota? Ask the reporter who has been on the Jackrabbit beat for 10 years and gets far more access than most college football beat reporters, and he'll tell you it changed the tenor of the entire 2025 season. Ask him if it may have changed the tenor of where the program is headed after the first full season of a new head coach and entirely new staff, and, well, you'll want to hear the answer. Sioux Falls Live's Matt Zimmer was in Grand Forks and gives you even more insight into the relevance of the victory than he does in his articles. It can't be underestimated. But, how much does it evaporate all the issues that led to SDSU losing four games in a row, particularly the embarrassment against Indiana State and the swift, early 35-0 tailspin against Illinois State? How did that latter loss actually fuel Saturday's win? Can we now definitively say the Jacks can beat New Hampshire or even No. 3 Montana — which awaits the winner — without Chase Mason? We might not ever know the answer to that question, because head coach Dan Jackson on Monday told Happy Host John Gaskins he is "confident" in Mason being able to play in Saturday's home playoff game. So how does this change things for SDSU's postseason, if Mason indeed plays? And, what do we make of others who cover the FCS accusing Jackson — we're paraphrasing here — of trying to use Jedi mind tricks and keep opponents guessing if Mason will play or not each of the last few weeks? On his daily "Hot Mic" show in Fargo, WDAY-TV's Voice of the Bison Dom Izzo said this on Monday: "The Chase Mason thing is beyond infuriating. And, I said it after the Bison game. FCS writer/analyst) Craig Haley and got ripped for it — and Craig was dead-on about it — it's just completely unnecessary. They warmed up Chase Mason again just for this illusion for the (FCS Playoffs) Committee that, 'Hey, he might be coming back.' He's not! "Jack Henry played and won the game. I think it was out there, like, 'Hey, if we lose, we might get our quarterback back. It's just so stupid unnecessary." You'll want to hear what Zimmer, who regularly goes to practice and was on the field observing Saturday's warmup, has to say about that assertion. SDSU also scored what appears to be a major recruiting victory on Friday night when Sioux Falls Lincoln quarterback Brody Schafer announced on social media his commitment to SDSU. Schafer is on pace to easily break older brother Tate Schafer's career passing and total yards and touchdowns in Class 11AAA, the state's highest level of high school football. Sanford Sports Academy's football director and veteran high school football analyst Kurtiss Riggs has called Schafer the best high school football quarterback talent to come from South Dakota. Riggs also feels like USD missed a golden opportunity to offer Schafer a scholarship before SDSU. Does Zimmer agree? Also in this episode, our latest conversation about a watered-down FCS playoff field thanks to the numerous departures from the subdivision to FBS the last several years. Does it make watching these playoffs so uninteresting that Zimmer pines for the Jacks to move up to the FBS the way many Bison fans and media do?

Title: Courage Against GiantsSpeaker: Pastor Andrew RiggsDate: 24th January 2016Location: Sydney, Australia This episode explores the theme of courage and faith when facing challenges that seem far beyond our strength. Using the story of the twelve spies in Numbers 13–14, the message highlights how God’s promises cut through fear, doubt, and overwhelming circumstances. Caleb and Joshua become key examples—men who saw the same giants as everyone else but trusted God more than the obstacles. The episode draws a clear line between recognising real problems and allowing those problems to rule our decisions. It encourages staying spiritually strong, fuelling faith through prayer, fellowship, and the Word, and trusting God for the miracles only He can provide—just as Israel needed when crossing the Jordan. The story concludes with Caleb, now 85, finally overcoming the same giants that once caused Israel to retreat, reinforcing that perseverance in faith always leads to victory. The message ultimately points to the greater inheritance ahead: eternal life, the true Promised Land for all who follow the Lord wholeheartedly. 3 Key Takeaways Courage grows when God’s promise is valued above the size of the problem. Consistent faith—fed through prayer, fellowship, and Scripture—keeps us strong through long-term battles. Perseverance leads to victory; like Caleb, some giants fall only after years of steadfast walking with God. Scripture References Numbers 13–14 Joshua 1 Joshua 3 Joshua 13 Joshua 14 Deuteronomy (general references to blessing) Hebrews (reference to entering in through belief) Listen to the entire Podcast Revival library by visiting https://podcastrevival.com The Revival Fellowship is a Bible-directed, Spirit-filled Church and we welcome visitors to our meetings at any of our locations worldwide. Exit Strategy by Lee Child and Andrew Child. Jack Reacher is back - this time in Baltimore, where he inadvertently gets himself caught up in corrupt goings on at the local Port. He walks into a coffee shop, and someone brushes against him - only later does he realise that a note was slipped into his pocket at that moment, from someone asking for help and requesting a late night rendezvous. The note was clearly intended for someone else but Jack heads along to the meeting anyway, just to see what's going on. This is classic Reacher - he's about to dispense a lot of vigilante justice and stand up for the good guys, before he gets onto another Greyhound bus and heads off for who knows where. Good Things Come and Go by Josie Shapiro. Josie is an Auckland writer whose first book I loved - Everything is Beautiful and Everything Hurts. This is her second, and it's equally good - about Penny and Riggs living in LA where things have gone terribly wrong for them, and the chance for Penny to come back to Auckland and hold a solo art exhibition is too good to ignore. They head back to Waiheke Island (and into the midst of complicated family dynamics) and reconnect with an old friend who's down on his luck. The rekindling of that childhood friendship brings serious undercurrents, with long held secrets to be reckoned with. Josie is a terrific writer and I hope will be bringing us books for years to come. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today, Shane Black is back, returning to Script Apart four years since his last appearance on the show! His new film Play Dirty is a heist movie that in some ways he's been waiting his whole life to make. Fans of his will know that Shane often centres stories around flawed male characters who are informed by the pulpy novels he grew up reading. After decades creating his own spins on the literary tough guys in those books – such as Riggs in Lethal Weapon and Harry Lockhart in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang – this new film goes straight to the source, directly adapting one of the novelists who inspired him at an early age: Donald E. Westlake, or Richard Stark as he was sometimes known. Westlake wrote 28 books in total about a career criminal named Parker – a cold, calculating loner who lives by a code: thou shalt not double-cross. Unless of course, he's double-crossed first… In this spoiler conversation, Shane tells Al about what Parker means to him as a lonely bookworm adolescent, and how he threaded the needle between this quiet character and the quippy dialogue both he and star Mark Wahlberg specialise in when it came to telling his own Parker story. We get into how he constructs his action scenes, how his writing has and hasn't changed as a result of CGI – and why there was only one outcome possible in this story for a certain character who doesn't make it to the end credits.Script Apart is hosted by Al Horner and produced by Kamil Dymek. Barney Riggs was one of the Old West's most notorious and controversial gunfighters. Born in Arkansas in 1856, Riggs moved to Texas as a child, where violence quickly became a family tradition. At just 18, he killed a friend in what was called an accidental shooting. By his twenties, Riggs was in Arizona, working as a cowboy, stealing horses, and allegedly committing multiple murders. After being convicted of murder and sentenced to life at Yuma Prison, Riggs won a full pardon by saving the warden's life during a bloody escape attempt. He returned to Texas, where he continued his violent ways, becoming embroiled in the infamous Frazer-Miller feud and serving as a deputy under a controversial sheriff. Repeated arrests, deadly shootouts, and family drama followed Riggs until his tragic demise in 1902.
