In this conversation, Eliza, a GP and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, discusses her expertise in Neuroprotective Developmental Care, an evidence-based practice of working with the biology of our children to understand the ways in which we can support our family. She emphasises the importance of an individualised approach, understanding infant sleep needs, and the significance of co-regulation in parenting. The discussion also addresses common misconceptions about sleep training and the need for flexibility in parenting. In this conversation, we discuss the complexities of baby sleep, addressing common concerns such as early waking, the witching hour, and the challenges of managing sleep with multiple children. Eliza is the founder of a Perinatal GP clinic in Sydney's Inner West and, along with her team, offer comprehensive care for Perinatal women, babies, including lactation and sleep support focus on the possums approach. There is a wealth of knowledge, expertise and empathy from Dr Eliza and I recommend you pass this episode on to as many parents as you can as it offers ways in which you can take the guess work out of supporting your child's needs and encourages reassurance for parents and the very undervalued backstage labour of raising our little humans. The discussion also highlights the significance of mental health for parents and the need for support during challenging sleep phases.Eliza is a GP and lactation consultant with a focus on perinatal care.Neuroprotective developmental care aims to protect a baby's optimal development. The approach emphasizes individualized care based on a baby's unique needs.Sleep is a biological need, not a learned skill.Families often face conflicting information about infant care. It's important to acknowledge varying sleep needs among babies.Co-regulation is beneficial for a baby's development.Parents should feel empowered to follow their baby's cues.Routine can be beneficial for parents, but flexibility is key for babies.Understanding a baby's biology helps alleviate parental pressure. Babies communicate their needs, not manipulate. It's okay to seek help if sleep is unmanageable.Experimenting with sleep arrangements can help.Understanding your baby's natural body clock is key.The witching hour is a common phenomenon for babies.Catnapping is normal and not harmful.Sleeping through the night varies for each baby.Letting go of control can ease parenting stress.Support from professionals can be beneficial.Finding what works for your family is essential.https://www.instagram.com/dr.eliza.hannam/https://www.nurturedmedical.com.au/https://ndcinstitute.au/https://possumsndc.com/https://possumssleepprogram.com/when-baby-cries-a-lot-brief-and-simple/the-baby-who-cries-a-lot-in-the-first-3-4-months-of-life-possums-5-domain-approach/about-the-discontented-little-baby-bookhttps://www.instagram.com/motherhoodwithketurah/

What a day it is to be a Wests Tigers fan! Sure, we haven't kicked a ball yet in 2025, but today might just be one of the biggest in the club's long history. Today, Wests Tigers had four independent directors appointed to the club's board. This means that Wests Tigers now has a board that meets the independent review recommendations that we all fought so hard for. These are directors who bring talent and nous from different backgrounds and are giving of their time and professional skills for one reason - to advance the Wests Tigers. That is very exciting! Barry O'Farrell is one of the independent board members, he is expected to be voted in as Wests Tigers Chairman at a meeting later this month. Joining the representatives from Holman Barnes Group, Balmain Tigers, and Wests Magpies on the Wests Tigers board will be: Charlie Viola, Executive Chair of Viola Private Wealth, and former Partner at Pitcher Partners. Charlie is a prominent Financial Advisor and Industry leader, with exceptional financial management, commercial and strategy skills. Charlie grew up in Campbelltown and now lives in the Inner West. Michelle McDowell, former Managing Director of Allied Express, brings a wealth of experience in commercial, operations and logistics. Michelle has significant business acumen and is passionate about community. Michelle has deep commercial insights into the Western suburbs of Sydney. Annabelle Williams OAM PLY, Former Chair of the Athlete’s Commission for Paralympics Australia, and former Board member of the Paralympics Australia and Swimming Australia. Annabelle is a Lawyer and a decorated athlete, with deep insights in High-Performance, and is an advocate for inclusion and excellence in sport. Annabelle grew up in Balmain. To mark these important appointments, and this important day, Garry Watson and Joel Helmes sat down and recorded this latest edition of the Wests Tigers Unite podcast. Not every path to success is a straight one. Mike Tosetto knows this firsthand. From growing up in Sydney's Inner West as a skate kid who took photos with a disposable camera of the local street art — or, as her calls it, ‘mad graph' — to living out back for two years at Ayres Rock Resort, to playing didgeridoo on stage at the Glastonbury music festival. His path has been anything but direct. After realising his job at a supermarket chain wasn't going anywhere, he got a job at a publishing house, and started hanging around the graphic design department and tinkering with computers with the IT guys. But it was when he stumbled upon a University of Sydney open day that things really started to unfold in the right direction. He got into a digital media master's degree, and his path was set. Today, Mike runs one of the foremost animation studios in Australia. Creating motion branding for businesses like Samsung, Adobe, Adidas, Microsoft, Google, Binge and Bugatti, translating strategic concepts into motion. Listen in as Vince and Mike discuss being burnt out and not being able to see the woods for the trees, the relentless pursuit of delivering great outcomes, and the future of motion design. https://neversitstill.com/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What happens when a group of businesses gives an artist the reins of a business association? Well, a lot can happen if it is the Inner West Street Association in Annapolis, and the artist is Audrey Lee! Today, we speak with Audrey about an expanded First Sunday Arts Fest program, the twice-weekly Dinner Under the Stars, a return of a season-ending Masquerade Ball, the perennial favorite Chocolate Binge Festival, and a few other surprises! One surprise is coming up on April 21st with a Taste Of Spring. As Audrey said, imagine a really long table in the middle of West Street overflowing with food from your favorite restaurants like Stan & Joes, Rams Head Tavern, Picante, Luna Blu, and 49 West. The tickets are only $60, which helps offset the entertainment cost for Dinner Under the Stars! A lot is happening on Inner West Street! Have a listen! How can we as Christians care for those who are on the margins of society? How can we share the hope of Jesus with those who, from a worldly perspective at least, look like they have the least reason for hope? WATER. To say I'm excited to bring you this conversation is an understatement. The climate change conversation at the ‘top levels' is highly corporate, pushing out so called solutions like processed fake meats, cutting down trees and covering fields with solar panels for ‘green energy' and building synthetic protein labs. Meanwhile farmers and ecological warriors are reversing desertification around the world, one project at a time, with regenerative farming transitions and water systems design. Water - we take it for granted in the cities, and feel victim to its scarcity or excess all over the world for the most part, but what if, you knew that water and they way it flows and where it goes can be one of the most powerful ways to reverse climate destabilisation? Enter Zach Weiss on this week's show to step us through it. Protégé of revolutionary Austrian farmer Sepp Holzer, Zach is the first person to earn Holzer Practitioner certification directly from Sepp - through a rigorous two-year apprenticeship working on projects in North America and Europe. After 10 years of building Water Retention projects for clients around the world, Sepp said that there “needs to be hundreds or thousands of Zachs working around the world, millions would be better!” In that moment, the idea of Water Stories was born; so that any professional, land steward, or concerned citizen can have the same positive impact on their waters and lands. I hope you love this enlightening chat as much as I did, Alexx.
