Cousins subs Alex Strouf & Collin Russo are in for Scalzo & Brust LIVE from the AM Fam Championship in Madison and wonder if you believe in superstitions and if so, what are you superstitious about, which NFC North team if any intimidates you more as a Packers fan, Packers reporter Jason Wilde stops to talk all things Green & Gold, what is Jordan Love's ceiling and floor and what would your male stripper name be?
A couple of weeks in and finally shedding some of the preview/pregame/postgame podcasts for a bit, it's time for the mothership to take off again — this time, with a weird duck stowing away throughout. Darren Black, Malachi Hayes, Melissa Sage-Bollenbach and Brett Ballantini got together for a gut-check on where the team's at. Hang around, because while you might not see Joe Resis, you may catch some Good Vibes (hey Jacki!) by the end of the show. The lineup: Darren in old-school Intimidators cap, Malachi rocking the '59 Sox cap, Brett donning Bob Marley but with just one operating ear, and Melissa in self-professed Friday the 13th gear chosen especially for the fan-murdering nature of this early Sox season Yes, Joe Resis was also inked to appear on this podcast, but he either got locked in the green room, or was just enjoying the snacks so much, he never arrived. Darren even left a few times to try to go find him Yes, there was some chuckling over David Roth's Defector piece that pretty well captures the demolition derby nature of this White Sox team, even after we'd been told that fundamental play — the basics of baseball, if you will — were drilled throughout Spring Training Injuries. Yep. Well, we talk about 'em. Guys won't be out forever The yin-yang of this year's pitching rotation does have us stumped. On one hand, it has the potential to lead a team to the playoffs (Malachi) or be hot-cold for 162 games (Darren) LUIS ROBERT. Brett gets simmered down a bit from the MVP talk The Positive Vibrations portion of the podcast brought it all home Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A Special Message from Gene ValentinoDoing “the right thing” is not always easy. It's not always thought to be wise, most profitable, or popular. Doing the right thing has more to do with “COURAGE”; forged from the principles and beliefs given to you by your parents. There's an ole' saying I've adopted, “The Politician will tell you what you want to hear. The Leader will tell you what you need to know.” And, telling you what you need to know may not be popular”. So, my Accomplishments here do not show you things I've walked away from. As a result, I left A LOT of money on the table. However, God is good! He rewarded me with more wealth than I can speak of with a conscience that is pure and clear. I sleep well at night. I wish for you the same!”
Jurors in the George Floyd/Derek Chauvin trial were intimidated by protestors ready to explode if he wasn't found guilty on all counts.
Readers around the world... admit it. We all have them. Those big, complicated, intimidating books that glare at us from our shelves, almost with an air of defiance, just daring us to take them down, dust them off, and you know... actually READ them. But for whatever reason, we haven't been able to get up the guts to do so... well, welcome to episode 31 of the Book XChange podcast, wherein America's favorite twin book nerds accept the challenge... not to read these books, you understand! Let's not get hasty. Merely to discuss those books that have to this point intimidated us enough to keep gathering dust on our shelves, rather than actually be cracked open. Why are Jude and John reluctant to take on some books, and which ones continue to deter them? Which ones have YOU yet to crack open? Come on, you know there's a list. We're sharing ours this time around, and trying to convince each other (or deter each other, as the case may be) to answer the call. This episode was brought to you by the color... YELLOW. BOOKS DISCUSSED/MENTIONED/RECOMMENDED IN THIS EPISODE What Jude is currently reading/plans to read next: 'Chronicles,' Bob Dylan - 'Extraterrestrial,' Avi Loeb - What John is currently reading/plans to read next: 'The Tree of Man,' Patrick White - 'Machines in the Head: Selected Stories,' Anna Kavan - Books/Writers discussed in this episode: The 'Game of Thrones' series, George R. R. Martin - The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer - The work of Jane Austen and Henry James - 'War and Peace,' Leo Tolstoy - 'The Silmarillion,' J. R. R. Tolkien - 'City of God,' Augustine of Hippo - 'The Gulag Archipelago,' Alexander Solzhenitsyn - 'Bleak House,' Charles Dickens - The work of William T. Vollman - 'My Struggle,' Karl Ove Knaussgard - Planned next episode of the Book XChange podcast: Roughly aligning with the 4th of July weekend in the U.S., the Book XChange brothers will talk about books that somehow deal with freedom and independence - not just from the American perspective, but as a human ideal.
Jurors in the George Floyd/Derek Chauvin trial were undoubtedly intimidated by protestors ready to explode if he wasn’t found guilty on all counts. So far, at least one juror - an alternate - has admitted as much! Though this isn’t the first instance of jury tampering, it threatens to be the beginning of disempowerment of the judicial system - and not just in cases related to race. Hear the 7 reasons why Derek Chauvin’s defense attorney has grounds for appeal and the mistakes Judge Peter Cahill made that allowed jury intimidators to have more influence. You’ll go in depth into the impact of: no change of venue, no jury sequestration, the $27 million settlement, prosecutorial misconduct, Maxine Waters’ call for violence, and the shootings of Duante Wright and Adam Toledo. Well-respected attorney, Alan Dershowitz, reminds us that the Ku Klux Klan, in the 1920’s and 1930’s, also used to march outside courthouses in a threatening way. How ironic is that? Hear about the roles of President Biden and LeBron James, and the danger of jury intimidators for all future trials!

27-year-old Justin Jirschele made quite an impression in his first season as manager of the White Sox Class-A affiliate in Kannapolis. He helped lead the Intimidators to the South Atlantic League championship, and was named White Sox Minor League Coach of the Year. Jirschele came on the podcast to speak with Chuck Garfien about how he went from playing minor league baseball with the White Sox to coaching in their system. He talks about how growing up with a dad who was coaching minor league baseball helped mold him as a manager who is wise beyond his years. Jirschele also gives a report on some of the top White Sox prospects he managed last season such as Jake Burger, Alec Hansen, Dane Dunning and Miker Adolfo.
