Financial brands need to start taking millennials seriously because, pretty soon, they'll be your biggest customers. Those who don't will be unprepared for the future and, ultimately, left in the past. But, it's a generation who has some pretty high expectations — and the research proves it. Today, I'm discussing that research with the very people who conducted it, Jake Tyler, Niamh Cunningham, Shayli Lones, to learn what it says and, more importantly, how you should respond. Join us as we discuss: - Why truly knowing your customer is the key to any financial brand's longevity - Why trust is is the most valuable currency for your customers - Why you should look not to other financial brands, but to the Amazons of the world for delivering remarkable customer experiences You can find this interview and many more by subscribing to Banking on Digital Growth on Apple Podcasts, on Spotify, or here. The future of banking just may be voice - but that will probably mean talking with a computer. Already tens of millions of Bank of America customers use its Erica and that number is growing at a brisk rate.It should be no surprise. Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant are part of many of our lives today. We talk with machines. We like talking with machines.Question: how is a credit union to compete in this sphere.Enter Finn AI, a conversational banking company formed precisely to address these needs for credit unions and community banks.Already Finn AI has a couple credit union customers - BECU is one. And it is looking for more. That's why it has scheduled an October 6 virtual conversational banking summit, a half day devoted to giving credit union and bank execs the information they need to make decisions about AI and conversational banking.Did I mention it is free for credit union execs.Link here.If you can't make the summit, sign up anyway and you'll get a link so you can watch at a time more convenient for you.Speakers include executives from Amazon, BECU, MX, United Federal Credit Union (also a Finn AI customer), and Kirk Drake, the founder of CU 2.0 and author of a book on AI. In this podcast, with Finn AI CEO and co-founder Jake Tyler, you will hear more about the summit but you also will here about Finn AI's tools, its pricing, and why Tyler is persuaded that conversational AI banking just is not a technology that can be ignored. It's a candid discussion, tightly focused and to the point.Listen up.Like what you are hearing? Find out how you can help sponsor this podcast here. It’s mental health awareness week and so this episode is particularly poignant. Jake Tyler has struggled with his mental health for a number of years. From the outside everything looked rosy, but in reality, he was fighting a private internal battle and was truly struggling. Jake’s honesty is humbling as he discusses the challenges he experienced whilst suffering from depression - and what he did to try and take control of it. One thing that helped was exercise. He started with going for a walk and developing a routine, a simple moment in the day that was something to focus on. Over time he walked further and further until the walking turned to running. Whilst not every run is fast and easy, each run does take him to a happier, more positive place, where he feels a little better. This sentiment is certainly something most of us can relate to. This episode is a discussion of how something as simple and pure as a run can help you to turn your life around, and lead you to feel more empowered, more in control and have a far more optimistic outlook. Jake’s story and experiences are incredibly inspiring, they might also make you consider setting some challenges so you too can feel even more alive. Happy running.
It's been a journey... Jake Tyler walked around Great Britain as a way to get through his depression and mental health struggles. He chats to Yvette and Ellen about how the walk has affected his life and how it's been throughout the pandemic. Nikki Bedi and Richard Coles are joined by Ray Mears - an authority on bushcraft and survival, he's been presenting TV series and teaching on the subject for 3 decades. Jono Lancaster has a rare genetic condition called Treacher Collins Syndrome and was adopted at birth. He has made TV programmes, set up a charity and travelled extensively supporting other young people with facial difference. He discusses his journey to self acceptance. Jenny Packham’s designs have graced countless red carpets and award shows since she launched her eponymous label in her early 20s. She tells us how she was inspired from a young age by her two dressmaker Grandmothers. Jake Tyler got severe depression and felt burnt out as a manager of a busy London pub. He ditched city life and embarked on a 3,000 mile walk around Britain, visiting every national park while meeting dozens of friendly strangers who offered him a bed. And the poet, actor and DJ Craig Charles chooses his inheritance tracks: Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit and Wilson Pickett singing Hey Jude. And your thank you. Producer: Corinna Jones
When Jake Tyler found himself contemplating suicide, his mental health was at rock bottom. He took an unconventional approach to helping himself, and started an epic walk around the entirety of the UK, becoming an accidental campaigner for mental health along the way. Now Jake's written a book about his experiences – A Walk From The Wild Edge – which details his journey in brilliantly relatable, moving and funny prose. Having moved from a place where he dealt with his life stresses with drink and drugs, he now knows how to truly help his own mental state and why walking is at the heart of this. Jake talks to us about how he coped in lockdown, how he feels about ‘cracking himself open' through the book, and what people's reactions might be. We also chat about the moment of epiphany he had that set him on his journey and how we're still a long way from shedding the shame, and achieving true openness around mental health. Thanks so much to Jake for joining us. His book A Walk From The Wild Edge, is out now: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Walk-Wild-Edge-Jake-Tyler/dp/024140116X How to Cope is hosted by writer Becky Howard and psychotherapist Lucy Clyde.
