Child-led therapy doesn't mean lowering expectations. It means meeting children where they are and building meaningful learning opportunities from what matters most to them.I'm joined by Dr. Katherine Pickard, Dr. Rachel Yosick, and Dr. Tracy Argueta from the Marcus Autism Center to explore how child-led Applied Behavior Analysis is shaping the future of autism intervention. We unpack Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBIs), what they are, how they differ from more traditional ABA approaches, and why they continue to gain momentum in both research and practice. One of my favorite parts of this conversation is the discussion around “de-implementation,” the idea that sometimes improving our practice requires letting go of strategies that no longer serve children and families as effectively. We also talk about common misconceptions around child-led therapy, how to balance NDBI and structured teaching, and practical ways clinicians can begin incorporating more naturalistic, developmentally appropriate strategies into their sessions. If you've ever wondered whether child-led approaches are "ABA enough" or how to start making meaningful changes in your own practice, this conversation offers thoughtful, research-based guidance that is both encouraging and actionable.#autism #speechtherapyWhat's Inside:What NDBIs are and why they are rooted in ABAThe role of child-led learning in effective interventionWhy some traditional practices may need to be reduced or reconsideredPractical ways clinicians can begin using more naturalistic strategiesMentioned In This Episode:Marcus Autism CenterEarn CEUs with a community of peers. Sometimes collaboration feels seamless, and other times it leaves you questioning everything. That contrast came up in such a real way as I talked with Jenny Argueta, and it's something so many of us have experienced but don't always say out loud. She shared how working with one collaborative SLP felt energizing, while another interaction left her feeling small and shut out. That moment stuck with her and ultimately shaped her decision to become dually certified so she could be part of the solution. We unpack the tension that can exist between SLPs and BCBAs and how those challenges often stem from past experiences, misunderstandings, or lack of exposure to each other's work. I always come back to the importance of listening. When we take the time to understand someone's perspective instead of reacting, we open the door to better collaboration. We also talk about AAC and the gaps in training that so many providers face. Jenny shares honestly about how overwhelming AAC can feel, even as an SLP, and why ongoing learning is so important. At the end of the day, our goal is the same. We want to support meaningful communication and real progress for our students.#autism #speechtherapyWhat's Inside:Real examples of collaboration going well and breaking downWhere SLP and BCBA tensions come fromPractical ways to build trust and shared understandingWhy AAC training is essential for all providersMentioned In This Episode:Mirific LLCEarn CEUs with a community of peers. Send us a textToday Andrea Argueta is director of financial institution advisory at Glia, a company that focuses on providing credit unions and banks digital customer service tools and nowadays that means AI. So this show's focus is on the practical suite of tools Glia has working in some 400 credit unions, making Glia very probably the largest provider of AI tools to credit unions.Importantly, too, Argueta knows credit unions. That's because before coming to Glia she served as COO at Washington DC based IDB Global Federal Credit Union, an institution that serves the employees of the Inter-American Development Bank and their families and there are members in over 75 countries. At IDB Global she was a Glia customer and eventually that evolved into her joining the Glia team. In the show she tells about that journey and she also offers insights into what AI is really doing for credit unions today and the smart way for a credit union to join this party. In the show mention is made of two prior appearances on the show by Glia executives, Glia CEO Dan Michaeli in 2020 and Jake Tyler a year ago. Listen up.Like what you are hearing?

With Matt Serra out for the day, Jim Norton is joined by MMA writer John Morgan for an episode of UFC Unfiltered that sees the guys talk to welterweight Alex Morono and bantamweight Dan Argueta ahead of their fights on Saturday's UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Curtis 2. Looking to maintain his trend of never losing back-to-back fights, Morono opens his interview by reflecting on some stories from his early MMA career — including what it was like to get bit during a fight by his opponent. Then, Alex discusses his mindset going into his 20th UFC fight and breaks down what he thinks about Saturday's fight against a fellow veteran like Court McGee before wrapping things up by talking about what it's like to drive back-and-forth across Texas between the gym he owns in Houston and Dallas' Fortis MMA where he gets coached up by Sayif Saud. When Alex leaves, Jim and John then take a look at this Saturday's card, with some thoughts on the middleweight rematch between Brendan Allen and Chris Curtis in the main event. Finally, Dan Argueta joins the show — Jim and John open the interview by getting the 30-year-old bantamweight to open up on what it's felt like having his two most recent fights end in a no contest. Argueta then shares what Cub Swanson's guidance has meant for him in his career before wrapping up his interview by unpacking the stakes of Saturday's matchup against a hungry fighter in Jean Matsumoto making his UFC debut.

Colosenses 1:24-29
