This week Mark is joined by President of Gays Against Guns and Co-Founder of the Queer Liberation March, Jay W. Walker to discuss what they advocate and how people interpret the right to bear arms in the constitution. The subject hits hard this week as the school year has just begun and already a shooting has taken place. Jay talks about how the organization began which was shortly after the Pulse Club Shooting in June of 2016 in Orlando, FL. So many people got together to stand in front of the club holding plaque of the victims and they continued to advocate since. During Mark's Musings he wonders when is enough going to be enough? Why isn't it now? Rational Revolution with Mark Becker is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Saturdays at 2 across the network. . Project 2025 (officially the Presidential Transition Project) is the right-wing Republican plan to dismantle American democracy--a harrowing plot that reads like dystopian fiction but is all too real. These policies will turn America to an authoritarian, white-supremacist, autocratic state, much like Hungry. Anna-christine d'Adesky of “Stop the Coup 2025,” along with GAG's Jay W. Walker, will discuss the ways in which Project 2025 will limit our freedoms—especially for members of the LGBTQIA+, immigrant and other minorities--and change the structure of our country. This may be THE most important issue we will confront in the coming months. Please take time to investigate the links below and tune in to gain a deeper understanding this plot and what is at stake with this election. https://www.stopthecoup2025.org https://www.axios.com/2022/07/22/trump-2025-radical-plan-second-term https://thomaszimmer.substack.com/p/project-2025-promises-revenge-oppression https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025 https://www.semafor.com/article/02/20/2024/heritage-recruits-an-army-to-build-a-trump-presidency-playbook https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/will-the-heritage-foundations-project-2025-turn-trumpism-into-a-governing-agenda/tnamp/

Join Hosts Sarah Germain Lilly and Sean Stefanic as we look at the misguided and deadly results of the guns, deaths and injuries pushed into our lives by gun manufacturers and the politicians who protect them. First, a news update on another deadly shooting with an AR-15 in Texas, and victories from state houses all across America that have passed legislation to regulate firearms. Then we go to the somber, gray scene at a Brooklyn High School where a memorial takes place for a high-school student shot outside his home in Ft. Greene. We will also check in with Christina Owen of Norman Oklahoma, on her own “Wrong place” incident, and her reflections on being a parent during this time of lockdowns and mass shootings. We wrap up the show with an interview about Youth Arts New York, and the non-violence workshops they conduct with students. Guests Robert Croonquist, Sonni Mun, Virginia Vitzthum, Jay W. Walker and others share the students' views on the issues of violence facing them today.
Unregulated tactical accessories are making guns more lethal - Part I of a two-part series. This Tuesday, Radio GAG will explore the issue of unregulated tactical accessories, in a two-part series, starting with the "auto sear." Although AR-type rifles are often involved in mass shootings, handguns are actually the most used weapon. Handguns and ARs have now become more deadly than ever thanks to the auto sear, which will convert a conventional semi-automatic weapon into a fully automatic one for only $20. Radio GAG's guest this week is Alain Stephens, who will explain the auto sear and how this little Lego-like device is challenging law enforcement as the death count rises. Our "In Memorium" will commemorate Stephen “Twitch” Boss, whose recent suicide shocked his many friends and fans. We will also hear from Jay W. Walker and Sonni Moon from the GAG march/rally for the victims of Monterey Park shooting.

On the day after Halloween we explore the horror of “Permitless Carry,” the latest madness following the Supreme Court's attack on state's rights to regulate firearms for the safety of their citizenry. “Permitless Carry” is just what it sounds like, you need no qualifications to buy or carry a gun. No background check, no training, and no need for a license. Texas has already passed this law and Georgia and many other states are soon to follow. Okay Public Servants! Time to step up and protect children, minorities, LBGT communities and women from the relentless proliferation of weapons and violence in our communities. The silence is deafening. Host Sarah Germain Lilly lays out the issue and some of its consequences; for example a young girl who was killed when a man opened fire during a robbery. We continue to honor Domestic Violence Awareness month with words from Jay W. Walker during an event held by WARM, We All Really Matter, and their Harlem March to End Domestic Violence. Sean Stephanic contributes the In Memoriam, honoring Nicole Connors, 52 years old, 10/13/22, Raleigh, North Carolina.

We'll look at Key findings from the report.
Why can't we have an assault weapons ban? Assault weapons are used in most mass shootings that have killed and wounded terrifying numbers of people in public places. So why did our Congress allow the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 to expire in 2004? Why is it so difficult to get this ban passed on a Federal level when increasing numbers of innocent people and communities are terrorized with greater and greater frequency? Gays Against Guns founding member Jay W. Walker explains the background story of why we can't get a gun safety bill of this nature through Congress. Meanwhile Gays Against Guns will be represented at the 2022 Women's Convention in Houston Texas by activist Brigid McGinn and Radio GAG producer Sarah Germain Lilly. Women's March Creative Director Kim Parker Russell joins us to talk about the 2022 Women's Convention, reproductive rights, domestic violence and other issues of self determination on Radio GAG. Acknowledging the need for co-ordinated City , State and Federal responses to gun violence, Jumaane reminds us that the struggle to end violence has a long human history while calling us to a moral imperative to stop these preventable killings here and now.
