Years ago, Woody Guthrie wrote “Mean Talking Blues,” a stinging satire of malicious right-wing officials who take perverse pleasure in demonizing, holding down, and punishing poor people:“I'm a big disasterJust goin' some place to happenI'm an organized famineStudying how I can be a little bit meanerI laugh my loudestWhen other people cryI hate everybody don't think like meI'm just mean.”What a perfect theme song for Trump's “Project 2025” – a MAGA crusade to stomp on millions of America's poorest families, trying to deny them access to the most basic human needs.Needs like… food. Brooke Rollins, Trump's multi-millionaire agriculture secretary, made crude political jokes about poor people during the GOP's government shutdown, laughing as she schemed to cut off their food stamps. She was an “organized famine,” illegally maneuvering to deny food for 42 million hard-hit American citizens. In addition, Project 2025 operatives want to yank health coverage from the poor – and just for meanness – they propose killing the modest program that helps impoverished families afford to have heat in their homes.Meanwhile, Trump poses as The Great Gatsby, living in tacky opulence, while ignoring the economic mess and rank inequality created by his Roaring 20s plutocratic presidency. Indeed, the inequality is widening as he doles out hundreds of billions of our tax dollars in new giveaways to billionaires (including to his own sons).Far from “Making America Great Again,” Trump's most tangible achievement is to have had the White House's Lincoln bathroom remodeled. And, in a royal touch, Trump even had a chandelier installed above the toilet. Imagine how proud Honest Abe would be.Jim Hightower's Lowdown is a reader-supported publication. Gareth Gore | Unveiling The Conspiracy Of Opus Dei (his first appearance)Gareth Gore - Opus (Amazon)Subscribe To The Curious Worldview Substack---This is Gareth's second appearance on the podcast. It is the political fallout from everything covered in our first episode where he told the story for how he serendipitously uncovered Opus Dei's hidden power and financial manipulation while investigating the ruins of the Spanish bank, Banco Popular. It began as a routine story but evolved into the discovery of a global network of manipulation, coercive recruitment, psychological abuse, and enormous financial flows routed through myriad opaque foundations. Gareth spoke about how Opus Dei maintains a polished, benign public image, but secretly operates an inner core of numeraries—members bound by vows of obedience, chastity, and poverty—who are tightly controlled, isolated, and monitored. It's systematic practices include corporal mortification, constant surveillance, abuse, both emotional and physical and the exploitation of vulnerable young women tantamount to human trafficking. Opus Dei used Banco Popular as a piggy bank for decades, funnelling money through shell foundations and offshore channels to fund their impressive global expansion. This is a Direct quote from Gareth's first appearance… “This is an organisation that seeks to re-Christianize of the entire world… Opus Dei is informed by a warped, distorted, conservative, radical reading of the Bible. It embeds itself in key institutions, especially in the United States. and Despite its Vatican legitimacy, Opus Dei uses secrecy and corporate structures to evade accountability.

Project 2025 is a sweeping blueprint for reshaping the federal government, published by the Heritage Foundation and a coalition of conservative groups. At its core, the initiative aims to consolidate executive power, dismantle or radically restructure key agencies, and install political loyalists throughout the bureaucracy. The project's 900-page manual, “Mandate for Leadership,” details plans for every major department, from the Department of Justice to the Department of Education, and lays out a 180-day playbook for the first days of a new conservative administration. One of the most controversial proposals is the revival of Schedule F, a personnel classification that would allow the president to replace thousands of career civil servants with political appointees. According to the Heritage Foundation, this would ensure that the executive branch is staffed by individuals “aligned with the president's agenda.” Critics, including the American Federation of Government Employees, warn that this could undermine the nonpartisan nature of the federal workforce and leave employees vulnerable to political pressure. The plan calls for the elimination of several agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. The Department of Education would be dismantled, with its functions shifted to the states or other departments. The Department of Homeland Security would also face major cuts. The National Institutes of Health would see reduced independence, and funding for stem cell research would be eliminated. The blueprint also recommends merging the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Census Bureau, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics into a single agency, with a mission aligned to conservative principles.Project 2025's education agenda focuses on reducing federal involvement, promoting school choice, and curbing what it calls “woke propaganda” in public schools. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act would be administered by the Department of Health and Human Services, and federal enforcement of civil rights in schools would be significantly curtailed. The initiative also seeks to expand presidential powers, advocating for direct White House control over agencies like the Department of Justice and the FBI. This is based on a controversial interpretation of the unitary executive theory, which aims to centralize authority in the presidency. The plan recommends dismissing all State Department leadership before January 20, 2025, and replacing them with ideologically vetted appointees.Experts warn that these changes could have profound implications for American governance. The American Civil Liberties Union notes that Project 2025 could erode checks and balances, while the Center for Progressive Reform tracks the potential consequences for workers and the public. The project's proposals have already begun to influence executive actions, with recent orders targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion offices, freezing federal hiring, and reinstating the Schedule F classification. As the 2025 presidential transition approaches, the debate over Project 2025's vision for the federal government is likely to intensify. The coming months will reveal how much of this blueprint is implemented and what it means for the future of American democracy.Thank you for tuning in. On a quiet April morning in 2023, the Heritage Foundation released a staggering 900-page document titled Project 2025, a blueprint that would soon pulse through think tanks and campaign war rooms. Billed as a “Mandate for Leadership,” Project 2025 lays out an unprecedented roadmap for transforming the federal government in the event of a Republican administration, leaving no department untouched and no norm unquestioned. At its center is a bold vision: bring the entire executive branch under direct presidential command. Quoting the Heritage Foundation's Kevin Roberts, “all federal employees should answer to the president.” To achieve this, Project 2025 proposes to overhaul the doctrine of separation between agencies like the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the Federal Communications Commission. Kiron Skinner, who co-authored parts of the plan, argues that leadership at the State Department should be swept clean and restaffed with more loyal, ideologically vetted officials, sidestepping Senate confirmation when possible. She told CNN last June that seasoned diplomats were simply “too left-wing” to implement conservative policy, though she struggled to name examples of open resistance. One of Project 2025's most controversial elements is Schedule F, a personnel mechanism designed to undo decades-old civil service protections. The idea is simple and dramatic: reclassify key federal positions to allow political firing and hiring at will. Without these protections, career staff could be ousted en masse and replaced by partisan loyalists. According to a recent Office of Personnel Management memo, every agency has been instructed to draft plans for a “significant reduction in the number of full-time positions” and to “consolidate management layers where unnecessary layers exist.” The Department of Government Efficiency—led by Elon Musk in collaboration with President Trump—has already executed some of these plans in chaotic fashion, abolishing entire agencies such as the Consumer Financial Protection Board and Voice of America before court rulings temporarily reinstated their staff. The impact stretches far beyond personnel charts. Project 2025 recommends dissolving the federal Education Department, closing or consolidating Agriculture field offices, and stripping the IRS's Office of Civil Rights and Compliance to a skeletal staff. These moves are justified, according to the project's authors, by the goal of eliminating inefficiency and rooting out what they see as a pervasive liberal bias. Former Trump Justice Department official Gene Hamilton, who helped pen Project 2025's justice chapter, contends that the DOJ has “forfeited the trust” of the American people, pledging to prosecute any state or private employer with “DEI or affirmative action programs.” He calls it a fight against “anti-white racism,” intentionally invoking the language of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.There has been vocal opposition. The American Federation of Government Employees warns the plan could terminate up to one million federal jobs, with ripple effects on community services nationwide. The ACLU and other civil rights groups have sounded alarms, describing the project as a threat to democratic norms and checks on executive power. Nonetheless, Project 2025's architects remain steadfast. In a statement to Politico, a Heritage Foundation spokesperson declared, “Simply put: we are seeking to mainstream the most transformational conservative policies in half a century.”Central to the project is a “Day One playbook,” a stack of ready-to-sign executive orders meant to kickstart reforms within hours of a new administration. Experts tracking these developments for the Center for Progressive Reform note that this approach risks not just instability but also legal battles, as rapid agency closures have already prompted emergency court injunctions and union pushback. With the presidential inauguration looming and deadlines set for agency downsizing plans, the coming weeks will be decisive. Supporters claim that Project 2025 is the turning point America needs to reclaim government from entrenched interests. Critics believe it is an existential gamble with the nation's institutions at stake.Project 2025 is no ordinary policy document; it is a living plan, already reshaping Washington's corridors and inspiring fierce debate across the country. As the nation braces for its next chapter, the fate of these sweeping reforms will hinge on upcoming court decisions, agency reckonings, and, ultimately, the will of the American people.Thank you for tuning in, and be sure to come back next week for more. Some great Deals https://amzn.to/49SJ3QsFor more check out http://www.quietplease.aiThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has published a Mandate for Leadership since 1981, making policy recommendations to the federal government. The latest edition is part of something much bigger: Project 2025. The newest Mandate is part of a four-pillar project designed to fundamentally change the federal government from the inside. Though President Trump and his team spent his third presidential campaign claiming they had nothing to do with it, Trump is no longer distancing himself from Project 2025. So let's dig in. Dive into the inside story of Project 2025, the plan that shaped the Trump administration and set the stage for the next wave of conservative policy. Paul Danz, former director of Project 2025, reveals how this strategic initiative delivered the Trump agenda, took on the deep state, and prepared conservatives for lasting influence in Washington. From election integrity to budget reform, hear firsthand how bold ideas became actionable results and what lies ahead for America's future.
In this hard-hitting episode, we cover the inside story of Project 2025 — the blueprint that shaped much of President Trump's agenda — and the political and judicial failures that have real consequences on the ground. Paul Danz, architect of Project 2025, explains how his work prepared the administration for day one, fought bureaucrats in the deep state, and continues the conservative fight in Washington. We also dive into the deadly consequences of inaction in South Carolina: how illegal immigration enforcement gaps, light sentencing, and political calculations contribute to tragedies, including fatal drunk-driving cases involving illegal immigrants. From courtrooms to the governor's office, this episode exposes systemic problems in law enforcement, deputization policies, and judicial accountability — and what citizens can demand moving forward.

Today's Headlines: President Trump has formally declared the U.S. to be in an “armed conflict” with drug cartels, invoking war powers and ordering military strikes on Caribbean boats the administration labels as “terrorist organizations.” Lawmakers in both parties are skeptical of the legal basis but—shocker—seem unlikely to act. Meanwhile, the government shutdown has left 750,000 workers unpaid or furloughed, and the White House is now threatening permanent firings with help from Project 2025 architect Russell Vought. Shutdown propaganda even seeped into federal employees' auto-replies, which were forcibly edited to blame Democrats. The Energy Department axed $7.6 billion in clean energy grants, conveniently targeting states that voted for Kamala Harris. The administration also sent nine universities—including Vanderbilt, MIT, and Brown—a “compact” demanding they overhaul admissions, freeze tuition, and abolish certain departments in exchange for federal funds. Elsewhere, the FDA approved a generic version of the abortion pill mifepristone, sparking predictable outrage despite it being a routine process. Yom Kippur was marred by a deadly terror attack at a synagogue in Manchester, where two worshippers were killed and the attacker was shot dead. And finally, Commerce Secretary Howard “Laughin'” Lutnick, a former neighbor of Jeffrey Epstein, suggested Epstein blackmailed powerful men with videos, casually detonating months of damage control efforts with a single podcast appearance. Trump budget chief Russell Vought, architect of “Project 2025,” is helping Donald Trump turn the government shutdown into a political weapon. From freezing billions in Democratic state projects to threatening permanent federal layoffs, the shutdown is being used to punish opponents and shrink the government. Meanwhile, American workers are left without pay, families face uncertainty, and taxpayer-funded websites are turned into partisan propaganda. On todays show Charlotte, James, Sarah, Glenn and Dwayne talk about Project 2025, a political initiative by the Heritage Foundation, which outlines conservative policies for a future Trump administration. Key points included proposals to abolish the Federal Reserve, replace merit-based civil servants with Trump loyalists, and implement strict immigration policies. The conversation also touched on the potential impact of drone technology, including the challenges of countering drone threats and the legalities of drone use. Additionally, the group discussed the implications of the Pope's comments on immigration and the potential for Russia to seize assets of countries that confiscate Russian assets. The discussion covered various topics, including the use of drones to invade privacy, the government shutdown, and the impact of memes involving sombreros and mustaches on political figures. They discussed Trump's use of social media to counteract Democratic criticisms and his administration's plans under Project 2025. The conversation also touched on Venezuela's strategic importance, its cartel connections, and the U.S. military's pressure on Maduro. Additionally, they debated the Super Bowl halftime show choices, particularly Bad Bunny's popularity, and concluded with a humorous discussion about a bear-related anecdote from "War and Peace." Do not miss it!
President Donald Trump is no longer distancing himself from Project 2025. AP correspondent Donna Warder reports.

We continue to build on the idea that white Christian nationalism is, was and has always been the foundation of this country. To suggest otherwise is to be both ahistorical and absent in our politics today. The violent response to a concept so utterly innocuous such as “Black lives matter” should tell us everything. Before it was a movement (of sorts) it was a simple statement. But the reality is that they don’t. We need to stop calling it “Trump’s America” and just call it what it is. America. Since his election in 2010, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has transformed Hungary from a democracy into a quasi-authoritarian country. In Hungary today, elections, economic policies, and the media are warped to benefit Orbán and his conservative Fidesz Party. Orbán's government, with its consolidation of executive power, Christian nationalist and anit-LGBTQ policies served as inspiration for Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's plan for Donald Trump's second term. Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts has called modern Hungary “not just a model for conservative statecraft but the model.”A new documentary film, Democracy Noir, shows how Orbán changed Hungarian politics. In the words of Budapest-based journalist Babbett Oroszi, Orbán has “hacked democracy” – quietly using the levers of democracy, rather than a violent revolution, to accomplish his aims. The film tells the story of modern Hungary through the eyes of three three female members of Hungary's resistance – reporter Oroszi, nurse and activist Niko Antal, and Tímea Szabó, an opposition leader in Hungary's parliament. Our guest, director Connie Field, has followed Hungarian politics since the country's first years as a democracy in the early 1990s. An American progressive and award-winning documentarian, she has a shrewd eye on how Orban's actions are being mirrored in the United States. The episode also includes discussion of a new leader who observers think has a real chance of upending Orbán's hold on power in the 2026 election.LEARN MORE:Watch a trailer for the film, find out where it's being screened, or request a screeningDownload the discussion guide.Connie Field bio ABOUT THE SHOW The Making Peace Visible podcast is hosted by Jamil Simon and produced by Andrea Muraskin.
