In Washington's think tank row, a single document has become a kind of political Rorschach test. Project 2025, a more than 900 page “Mandate for Leadership” assembled by the conservative Heritage Foundation and allied groups, is billed by its authors as a roadmap “to advance positive change for America.” According to Heritage's own description, it is a presidential transition project designed so a conservative administration can “take the reins of government” quickly and decisively. Critics see something very different. The American Civil Liberties Union describes Project 2025 as “a blueprint for a radical restructuring of the executive branch,” warning that it would replace long standing legal safeguards with “right wing ideals” across immigration, civil rights, and reproductive freedom. Democracy Forward, a nonpartisan watchdog, calls it “a systemic, ruthless plan” that could undermine the quality of life for millions, from workers and veterans to parents and students. At the heart of the plan is a sweeping reimagining of federal agencies. The Brookings Institution notes that on education alone, Project 2025 recommends dismantling the U.S. Department of Education, eliminating the Head Start program for low income children, and phasing out Title I funds that support schools in poor communities. It also calls for rescinding federal civil rights protections for LGBTQ+ students and weakening enforcement of disability rights. Brookings warns that these moves would “dramatically reshape the federal government's role” in schooling. The same impulse to centralize power runs through the broader agenda. The Heritage playbook urges a president to assert direct control over the civil service, in part by reviving “Schedule F,” a Trump era job classification that would make it easier to fire career officials and replace them with political loyalists. Democracy Forward reports that Project 2025's authors claim many of these changes could be carried out “through executive branch action alone — without new legislation.” Other proposals reach deeply into daily life. The American Civil Liberties Union highlights language urging mass deportations, new limits on asylum, and even ending birthright citizenship for some children of noncitizens, a direct challenge to the Fourteenth Amendment. The Center for American Progress points to recommendations to raise the Social Security full retirement age from 67 to 69, weaken unions by banning public sector bargaining, and reduce veterans' disability eligibility by narrowing covered conditions and automating denials. Supporters argue that these ideas would cut red tape, restore traditional values, and rein in what they describe as an unaccountable “administrative state.” Opponents counter that, taken together, the proposals would concentrate power in the presidency, erode checks and balances, and roll back protections that many listeners may take for granted. As the next campaign season accelerates, key questions loom: which parts of this blueprint will a future administration embrace, what can be done by executive order, and how will courts and Congress respond. Those decision points will determine whether Project 2025 remains a manifesto on a shelf or becomes a governing reality. Thanks for tuning in, and come back next week for more. Project 2025: Heritage Foundation's 900-Page Conservative Governing Blueprint Explained

Project 2025: The Ominous Specter

Project 2025 began not as a campaign slogan, but as a 900‑plus page manual quietly assembled by the conservative Heritage Foundation and allied groups, titled Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise. According to the Heritage Foundation's own description, it is meant to offer the next conservative president a ready‑to‑use blueprint for governing from day one. Former Trump officials helped draft it, and Heritage president Kevin Roberts has called it “a governing agenda and the personnel to carry it out.” At its core, Project 2025 is about reshaping the federal government itself. The plan urges a future administration to revive and expand “Schedule F,” a Trump‑era job classification that would let the president reclassify thousands of career civil servants as political appointees. Brookings Institution analysts note that this would make it far easier to fire existing staff and replace them with ideological loyalists, dramatically increasing White House control over agencies that have traditionally been more independent. The scope is sweeping. On education, Brookings reports that Project 2025 proposes dismantling the U.S. Department of Education, phasing out Title I funding for low‑income schools, and eliminating the Head Start program that serves children in poverty. It calls for rolling back federal civil‑rights protections for LGBTQ+ students and weakening enforcement of Title IX. Supporters frame this as restoring “parental rights” and shrinking “woke bureaucracy.” Critics warn it would leave vulnerable students with fewer protections and widen inequality. Other chapters reach deeply into social policy. The American Civil Liberties Union explains that Project 2025 recommends ending birthright citizenship, expanding mass deportations, and sharply limiting asylum, effectively remaking the immigration system in a more punitive direction. The Center for American Progress points to proposals to raise the Social Security retirement age to 69 and curb union power, including weakening the National Labor Relations Board and banning public‑sector unions, moves that labor advocates say would undercut working‑class economic security. Reproductive rights are another central front. Reproductive Freedom for All summarizes Project 2025 provisions that would restrict access to contraception and emergency contraception, block abortion medication nationwide, and even describe in‑vitro fertilization as something that should become “ethically unthinkable.” The ACLU argues these ideas would amount to a nationwide rollback of reproductive freedom driven by a specific religious vision of family life. Supporters of Project 2025 argue that all of this is needed to “rescue the country from the grip of the administrative state,” in the words of Heritage's introduction. Opponents, including the Stop Project 2025 Task Force in Congress, counter that it is “a manual on how to turn American democracy into a conservative, authoritarian nation” by concentrating power in the presidency and weakening checks and balances. In the months ahead, listeners can expect more concrete tests: confirmation battles over key appointees, court fights over Schedule F and agency authority, and election campaigns where candidates are pressed to say how closely they endorse the blueprint. Project 2025 began as a 900 page manual, but over the past year it has started to feel less like a blueprint and more like a live script for American government. According to the Heritage Foundation, which leads the effort, the “Mandate for Leadership” is meant to prepare the next conservative administration to, in its words, “dismantle the administrative state” and restore what it calls constitutional government. In practice, that means a sweeping reimagining of how federal agencies work, who controls them, and what rights they protect. At the center is a quiet but profound bureaucratic revolution. The plan urges a president to reclassify tens of thousands of federal employees into an expanded version of “Schedule F,” making it far easier to fire civil servants in policy roles and replace them with political loyalists. The Wall Street Journal has reported that Project 2025 also recommends ending the independent status of watchdog agencies like the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission, bringing them under direct presidential control. Supporters describe this as accountability; critics call it a path to one person rule inside the executive branch. The stakes become clearer when listeners zoom in on specific policy goals. The American Civil Liberties Union explains that Project 2025 calls for reviving the 19th century Comstock Act to block abortion medication and equipment from being sent through the mail, effectively creating a nationwide ban regardless of state law. The ACLU notes proposals to roll back nondiscrimination protections and to, as it puts it, “mandate discrimination against LGBTQ people by the federal government,” including excluding transgender Americans from military service. Economic and safety net programs are also in the crosshairs. Democracy Forward's “People's Guide to Project 2025” highlights proposals to cut overtime protections for an estimated 4.3 million workers, limit food assistance that more than 40 million people rely on each month, and even eliminate Head Start, the early education program that serves over a million children each year. The guide warns that authors of the plan claim much of this could be done without new laws from Congress, relying instead on aggressive executive action. Environmental policy is another major front. A report from the University of California, Berkeley's Center for Law, Energy and the Environment describes Project 2025 as a “radical overhaul” of climate and energy governance, calling for dismantling key climate initiatives, weakening the Environmental Protection Agency's authority, and prioritizing fossil fuel development over renewable energy. Supporters see all this as a long overdue correction. Heritage frames Project 2025 as a way to “advance positive change for America,” arguing that unelected bureaucrats have usurped power from elected leaders. Civil rights groups, environmental lawyers, and democracy advocates respond that the project amounts to what the ACLU calls “a roadmap for how to replace the rule of law with right wing ideals,” with profound implications for reproductive freedom, civil rights, and the balance of power in Washington. In the coming months, the key questions will be how far a president is willing to go in adopting this playbook, how courts respond, and whether Congress chooses to reinforce or resist these changes. For now, Project 2025 stands as a test of how much a modern White House can remake the machinery of government in just a few years. Thanks for tuning in, and be sure to come back next week for more. Project 2025 is no longer just a campaign-season talking point. It is a sprawling governing blueprint, and by early 2026 trackers said roughly half of its domestic administrative agenda had already been started or completed, with implementation spread across scores of federal actions and agencies.[3][1] At its core, the project aims to concentrate power in the presidency and reshape the civil service around loyalty and ideology. The Heritage Foundation's policy manual, *Mandate for Leadership*, calls for reinstating Schedule F, a move that would reclassify thousands of civil service jobs into policy roles and make it easier to replace career officials with political appointees.[2][6] That is not a minor personnel tweak. It is a structural change to how the federal government operates day to day. The education agenda shows the scale of the ambition. Brookings reports that Project 2025 proposes dismantling the Department of Education, ending Head Start, phasing out Title I aid for low-income schools, weakening civil rights enforcement, and privatizing the federal student loan portfolio.[2] Some of those changes would require Congress, but Brookings notes others could be pursued by executive action alone, including rolling back protections for LGBTQ+ students and narrowing student loan safeguards.[2] In practice, that means a child in a low-income district or a borrower struggling to repay debt could feel the effects long before any new law is passed. The project's broader policy goals reach beyond classrooms. Democracy Forward says the plan could cut overtime protections for 4.3 million workers, reduce food assistance relied on by more than 40 million people, and restrict access to medication abortion.[4] The ACLU says Project 2025 would also target immigrant communities through mass deportations, end birthright citizenship, and dismantle asylum protections.[7] Meanwhile, reproductive-rights advocates say the agenda seeks to restrict contraception, abortion care, IVF, and emergency treatment, while increasing government tracking of reproductive health data.[1] Supporters frame these proposals as a restoration of conservative governance. Critics see something else: a coordinated effort to centralize power and weaken checks and balances. The Center for Progressive Reform said the Trump administration had already initiated or completed 53 percent of Project 2025's domestic administrative agenda by February 2026, across 20 federal agencies.[3] That pace matters because it turns an abstract blueprint into a governing reality. For listeners, the next milestones will come from the courts, Congress, and the executive branch itself as more agency rules, staffing decisions, and budget fights take shape. Those decisions will determine whether Project 2025 remains a contested document or becomes the governing architecture of the federal state. Thank you for tuning in, and come back next week for more. Imagine a blueprint unfolding in Washington, not on paper, but through executive orders reshaping America's government. Project 2025, spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, aimed to dismantle the administrative state and restore family-centered policies, as stated in its Mandate for Leadership: "go to work on Day One to deconstruct the administrative state."[3][8]Fast forward to February 2026, and the Center for Progressive Reform reports the Trump administration has initiated or completed 53 percent of its domestic agenda—283 out of 532 actions across 20 agencies.[2] This isn't theory; it's action. Take health care: Project 2025 proposes redefining the Department of Health and Human Services as the "Department of Life," rejecting abortion as healthcare and directing the FDA to revoke mifepristone approval while urging the DOJ to prosecute doctors and women, even in miscarriages.[1] Echoing this, a November 2025 executive order, "Fostering the Future for American Children and Families," tasks HHS with modernizing child welfare using AI for caregiver recruitment and partnering with faith-based groups.[6]Education faces upheaval too. The plan calls for eliminating the Department of Education, privatizing student loans—potentially hiking costs for working families—and axing Head Start, which serves 833,000 low-income kids.[3] It also ends Public Service Loan Forgiveness and income-driven repayment.[3] Labor proposals strike harder, banning public sector unions and repealing Davis-Bacon wage rules to ease union decertification.[3]Immigration? Mass deportations loom, shifting immigrant children from HHS to enforcement-focused DHS, ending birthright citizenship, and deploying military for border ops.[1][4] A March 2026 order removes housing barriers by slashing EPA permitting and energy mandates, prioritizing affordability but critics say at environmental cost.[6]Experts warn of authoritarian drift. The ACLU highlights risks to voting access, surveillance, and protests, while LULAC notes state tests like Texas abortion laws preview national criminalization.[1][4][7] Proponents see sovereignty restored; detractors, civil rights eroded. As midterms approach, trackers like Project2025.observer signal more milestones ahead.[9] Will Congress curb or codify these shifts? Imagine a blueprint so ambitious it aims to reshape America's government from the ground up, drawn by conservative architects dreaming of a bolder executive branch. That's Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's 920-page Mandate for Leadership, unveiled in 2023 as a roadmap for a potential Republican presidency. According to the Heritage Foundation's own document, it rests on four pillars: restoring the family as society's centerpiece, dismantling the administrative state, defending sovereignty and borders, and securing individual rights.Fast forward to 2026, and the plan is no longer theory. The Center for Progressive Reform's February 2026 tracker reveals the Trump administration has initiated or completed 53 percent of its domestic policy agenda—283 out of 532 actions across 20 agencies. Wall Street Journal analysis notes over half of Trump's executive orders on immigration and DEI align with Project 2025, despite his campaign disavowals, with key contributors now in his orbit. At its core, the project seeks to consolidate presidential power by purging civil service protections and firing independent agency heads. Concrete examples abound: It calls for abolishing the Department of Education to boost school choice, eliminating Head Start for 833,000 low-income kids, and privatizing student loans, as detailed in the Mandate. Health reforms target Medicare, pushing privatization via Medicare Advantage defaults and repealing insulin caps, per the American Progress FAQ. Environmentally, it proposes disbanding the EPA, slashing climate research, and selling public lands.Proponents argue this "deconstructs the administrative state" for efficiency, quoting the Mandate's vow to eliminate "critical race theory and other radical ideologies." Critics, like the ACLU, warn of eroded checks and balances, mass deportations ending birthright citizenship, and attacks on unions by scrapping overtime and public sector protections. These threads weave a tapestry of ambition: from border walls and military-led raids, per LULAC's update, to global ripples undermining gender equality, as RFSU reports. Experts at the Center for Progressive Reform highlight risks to democracy, yet backers see liberation from bureaucracy.Looking ahead, trackers from NAACP LDF and Project 2025 Observer signal intensifying scrutiny through 2026 midterms. Imagine a blueprint so ambitious it aims to reshape America's government from the ground up. That's Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's comprehensive plan, as detailed in its 900-page Mandate for Leadership, to dismantle what it calls the administrative state and restore family-centered policies on day one of a conservative presidency.[9]Launched before the 2024 election, the project distanced itself from candidate Trump, but his second term has brought striking alignments. According to the Wall Street Journal, more than half of Trump's early executive orders on immigration and DEI match Project 2025 recommendations, with key architects now in his administration.[1] The Center for Progressive Reform's February 2026 tracker reveals the administration has initiated or completed 53 percent of its domestic agenda—283 of 532 actions across 20 agencies.[3]Core goals shine through concrete proposals. Project 2025 urges redefining the Department of Health and Human Services as the Department of Life, rejecting abortion as healthcare and directing the FDA to revoke mifepristone approval while tasking the DOJ with prosecuting violators, even in miscarriages.[2] In education, it calls for dismantling the Department of Education to boost school choice, privatizing student loans—which the League of United Latin American Citizens warns would hike costs and widen economic gaps—and eliminating Head Start for 833,000 low-income kids.[2][4]Immigration reforms propose mass deportations, shifting immigrant children from HHS welfare to DHS enforcement, ending birthright citizenship, and deploying military for border ops, per the ACLU's analysis.[5] Labor faces attacks too: ending card-check unions, repealing Davis-Bacon wages, and defunding overtime for 4.3 million workers, as Democracy Forward outlines.[4][7]Experts like the NAACP Legal Defense Fund highlight civil rights rollbacks, from surveilling protesters to censoring classroom discussions on race and gender.[8] Proponents frame it as defending sovereignty; critics, including LULAC, see state-level tests in Texas paving an authoritarian path.[2]These threads weave a vision of centralized presidential power, slashing agencies like Homeland Security and privatizing Medicare via vouchers.[6] As midterms loom, watch congressional battles over unions and grants—pivotal decision points ahead. Thanks for tuning in, listeners. Finally, they analyze Palantir's manifesto-like summary of Alex Karp's The Technological Republic, criticizing its anti-pluralism, civilizational hierarchy, and alignment with Christian nationalist politics, and close with court actions overturning a federal gender-affirming-care funding ban and a protestor's case. 00:00 Indicting the SPLC 01:54 Charges Explained 07:22 Why Conservatives Hate SPLC 14:32 Project 2025 Playbook 18:55 Will the Case Stick 25:18 Break and Reset 25:32 Virginia Redistricting Fight 29:57 Gerrymandering and Opposition 32:56 Talarico Fox News Clip 34:42 Comedy Detour Dating Advice 35:55 Virginia Redistricting Fallout 37:11 Hope Amid Gerrymandering 38:10 SPLC Claims Revisited 39:41 Fondue Clip Goes Viral 41:09 Racism Goes Mainstream 45:27 Palantir Tech Fascism 47:39 Religion Means Christianity 51:44 Civilizational Chauvinism 57:53 Anti Pluralism Manifesto 01:02:06 Hope And Sign Off Subscribe for $3.65: https://axismundi.supercast.com/ Subscribe to our free newsletter: https://swaj.substack.com/ Order American Caesar by Brad Onishi: https://static.macmillan.com/static/essentials/american-caesar-9781250427922/ Donate to SWAJ: https://axismundi.supercast.com/donations/new Learn more about your ad choices. Imagine a blueprint so ambitious it aims to reshape America's government from the ground up, drawn by conservative architects at the Heritage Foundation. That's Project 2025, a 900-page manifesto released in 2023 to consolidate executive power and advance right-wing priorities, as outlined in its own document, "Mandate for Leadership."Fast forward to February 2026, and the Center for Progressive Reform reports that the Trump administration has implemented 53 percent of its domestic agenda—283 out of 532 recommended actions across 20 federal agencies. Key figures like Russell Vought, now OMB Director and a Project 2025 co-author, are driving this from the White House, according to tracking by Reproductive Freedom for All.The project's stated goals shine through its four pillars: restoring the family as society's centerpiece, dismantling the administrative state, defending borders, and upholding sovereignty, per the Heritage Foundation's principles. Concrete examples abound. It calls for abolishing the Department of Education to boost school choice and parental rights, shifting programs like those under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to Health and Human Services, as detailed in the project's policy chapters. On labor, it proposes ending card-check union elections, repealing Davis-Bacon wage rules, and even seeking congressional bans on public sector unions, according to a summary by the Washington Federation of State Employees.Immigration reforms target mass deportations, ending birthright citizenship, and using military for enforcement, while health policies aim to privatize Medicare via vouchers, cut Medicaid funding with work requirements, and eliminate Head Start for 833,000 low-income kids. Environmentally, it pushes fossil fuel expansion, Arctic drilling, and scrapping climate goals from the National Security Council.Experts warn of deep impacts. The ACLU highlights threats to abortion access, IVF, and LGBTQ rights, with ties to groups like Alliance Defending Freedom. Democracy Forward calls it a "ruthless plan" undermining millions' quality of life. These threads weave a tapestry of radical ambition, from gutting agencies to reorienting stats bureaus toward conservative hiring. Imagine a blueprint unfolding in Washington, one executive order at a time, reshaping the federal government into a more centralized powerhouse. That's Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation's 900-page Mandate for Leadership, released in 2023 as a conservative roadmap for overhauling American governance. According to the Center for Progressive Reform's February 2026 update, the Trump administration has now implemented or initiated 53 percent of its 532 domestic policy actions across 20 agencies, with 283 in motion just 12 months after inauguration. At its core, Project 2025 aims to "dismantle the administrative state," as stated in its own principles, by consolidating executive power and slashing regulations. Take the Department of Education: the plan calls for its complete elimination, shifting control to states to boost school choice and parental rights, while moving programs like those under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to Health and Human Services. In labor, it targets unions by ending card-check elections, repealing Davis-Bacon wage rules, and suggesting Congress ban public sector unions, as outlined in the project's policy summaries from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.Health and social safety nets face deep cuts too. It proposes privatizing Medicare through vouchers and making Medicare Advantage the default, raising the retirement age, and eliminating Head Start for 833,000 low-income children. On immigration, the blueprint urges dismantling the Department of Homeland Security, mass deportations, using military for enforcement, and hiking fees for asylum seekers—policies now advancing under figures like Stephen Miller and Russell Vought, Project 2025 contributors now in key roles, per Reproductive Freedom for All's tracker showing 51 percent implementation.Experts warn of sweeping implications: weakened worker protections, eroded civil rights, and rolled-back environmental rules, like easing oil drilling restrictions. Imagine a blueprint for reshaping America, drawn up by conservative powerhouses like the Heritage Foundation and now unfolding in real time. Project 2025, launched in April 2023 as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project, aimed to consolidate executive power, dismantle what it calls the administrative state, and advance right-wing priorities, according to its own 900-page Mandate for Leadership document.Fast forward to February 2026: the Center for Progressive Reform reports the Trump administration has initiated or completed 53 percent of its domestic agenda, with 283 of 532 recommended actions across 20 federal agencies now in motion. That's no abstract plan—it's action, from Russ Vought, Project 2025 architect turned White House budget director, steering cuts and reforms.Key proposals hit hard at federal agencies. The blueprint calls for abolishing the Department of Education entirely, shifting control to states to boost school choice and parental rights, while moving programs like those under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to Health and Human Services. It targets labor by ending project labor agreements, repealing Davis-Bacon wage rules, and easing union decertification. Health care faces overhaul: eliminate Head Start serving 833,000 poor kids, scrap Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and privatize Medicare via vouchers and Advantage as default. On immigration, it pushes mass deportations, ending birthright citizenship, using military for enforcement, and hiking asylum fees. The project's own words frame its ambition: restore the family as America's centerpiece, defend sovereignty, and dismantle bureaucracy, as stated in Heritage's principles. Yet experts warn of deeper impacts. Democracy Forward calls it a profound threat, while the ACLU highlights risks to reproductive rights, like rescinding abortion access for immigrant youth, already achieved by routing pregnant minors to restrictive states like Texas. These changes weave a tapestry of ambition, from relaxed fossil fuel drilling and tax shifts to flat rates of 15 and 30 percent, potentially hiking burdens on low-income families. Critics, including the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, decry threats to civil rights through DEI rollbacks and immigrant criminalization. As three years remain in the term, upcoming milestones loom—court challenges, midterm battles, and full agency overhauls. Imagine a blueprint unfolding in Washington, where conservative visionaries at the Heritage Foundation sketched Project 2025 back in April 2023, aiming to reshape America's federal government from the ground up. According to the Heritage Foundation's own Mandate for Leadership, the project's core mission is to "deconstruct the administrative state" on Day One of a new presidency, restoring the family as society's centerpiece while defending national sovereignty.[8]Fast forward to February 2026, and the Center for Progressive Reform reports that the Trump administration has initiated or completed 53 percent of its domestic agenda—283 out of 532 actions across 20 agencies.[1] This isn't theory; it's tracking toward reality, with executive orders dismantling guardrails on power.Key proposals target federal agencies head-on. Project 2025 calls for abolishing the Department of Education, shifting control to states to boost school choice and parental rights, while moving programs like the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to Health and Human Services.[6] It urges privatizing the student loan system, as noted on page 340 of the document, potentially hiking costs for working families and widening economic gaps, per LULAC's analysis.[2] Labor faces hits too: eliminate card-check union elections, repeal Davis-Bacon wage rules, and allow states to waive federal labor laws.[3]On health and environment, the plan seeks to revoke FDA approval of abortion drugs like mifepristone, direct the DOJ to prosecute providers, and reverse EPA findings on carbon dioxide harms to unleash fossil fuels.[2][6] Immigration reforms propose mass deportations, higher fees for asylum seekers, and using military for enforcement, ending protections in sensitive areas like schools.[3][6]Experts warn of deep implications. The ACLU highlights risks to First Amendment rights, like targeting protesters and censoring classroom discussions on race and gender.[5] NAACP Legal Defense Fund tracks civil rights erosions, from voting to equal opportunity.[4] These changes could centralize power, privatize services, and prioritize conservative priorities over broad equity.Yet the project's ambition connects to broader themes: a unitary executive wielding unprecedented control. As implementation accelerates, upcoming milestones—like congressional battles over Medicaid cuts or Title IX reversals—loom large, testing America's governance resilience. Thanks for tuning in, listeners—come back next week for more. Some great Deals https://amzn.to/49SJ3QsFor more check out http://www.quietplease.aiThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Imagine a blueprint so ambitious it aims to reshape the entire U.S. government, drawn up by the Heritage Foundation and released in April 2023 as Project 2025. This 900-page plan, detailed in its own Mandate for Leadership document from the Heritage Foundation, promises to restore the family as America's centerpiece, dismantle the administrative state, and defend national sovereignty.Fast forward to February 2026: the Center for Progressive Reform reports that the Trump administration has initiated or completed 53 percent of its domestic administrative policy agenda, with 283 of 532 recommended actions across 20 federal agencies now in motion. Reproductive Freedom for All tracks 51 percent implementation, including 23 completed actions out of 57 monitored, led by figures like Russell Vought, Trump's OMB Director and a Project 2025 co-author who now enforces these policies government-wide.Key proposals target federal agencies head-on. The plan calls for eliminating the Department of Education to boost school choice, as outlined in the AFSC summary, while axing Head Start, which serves over 833,000 low-income children annually, per Democracy Forward's People's Guide. On labor, it seeks to scrap civil service protections, replacing thousands of employees with political appointees, and end overtime pay for 4.3 million workers, according to the same guide. Immigration reforms propose dismantling the Department of Homeland Security, mass deportations via active-duty military, and ending birthright citizenship, with Stephen Miller, a key architect, now as Deputy Chief of Staff.Experts warn of sweeping impacts. The ACLU highlights threats to civil rights, like censoring classroom discussions on race and gender, while the NAACP Legal Defense Fund notes rollbacks on voting rights and expanded death penalties. "Project 2025 is the conservative movement's blueprint for weakening our government and building an authoritarian presidency," states the Center for Progressive Reform. These changes connect a grand vision: consolidating executive power, as Wikipedia describes, to overhaul governance from education to borders. The Trump administration fired over 300,000 federal employees, with Black women disproportionately represented among those let go. Pete Hegseth purged generals and military personnel. Kash Patel fired more than a thousand experienced FBI agents. Pam Bondi gutted the DOJ of over 6,400 people. The result: the very agencies Trump wanted to weaponize against his enemies are now too hollowed out to function. The Minneapolis U.S. Attorney's Office lost 75% of its staff after prosecutors refused to charge protesters with terrorism-related felonies. Grand juries are rejecting politically motivated cases. Federal judges are throwing out prosecutions targeting figures like Letitia James and James Comey. Illegally appointed U.S. attorneys like Alina Haba and Lindsay Halligan are being blocked by the courts. Hawk identifies three categories of resistance keeping democracy alive: everyday Americans confronting ICE, citizens serving on grand juries and rejecting bad cases, and federal district court judges like Judge Boasberg refusing to rubber-stamp political prosecutions. The episode closes with a brutally honest reflection on Trump voters and a focus group story about a disabled mother on Medicaid who supported stripping healthcare from trans kids even as the big beautiful bill threatened to leave her and her children homeless. Radell Lewis breaks down the biggest political stories shaping America right now on this week's Purple Political Breakdown. First, the global movement to ban children from social media is gaining serious momentum Australia has already removed millions of underage accounts, Spain is holding platform executives criminally liable, and France, Denmark, the UK, and others are following suit. Discord is rolling out teen-by-default settings in March 2026. Meanwhile in the U.S., the Kids Off Social Media Act (KOSMA) awaits Senate action as half of all states now have age verification mandates. Radell weighs the privacy debate against children's safety and explains why the "they'll just go somewhere worse" argument doesn't hold up.Then, the deep dive: Project 2025 is no longer a boogeyman talking point it's policy. Trackers show the Trump administration has initiated roughly 53% of Project 2025's domestic proposals, with key authors like Russell Vought, Peter Navarro, and Brendan Carr now occupying the exact roles they wrote about in the Heritage Foundation's blueprint. Radell walks through Schedule F and what it means for 50,000 federal employees losing civil service protections, the DOJ's weaponization against political adversaries like James Comey and Letitia James, the tariff trade war and the pending Supreme Court ruling that could trigger over $100 billion in refunds, the EPA's historic rescission of the endangerment finding on climate change, DEI rollbacks, school vouchers, Planned Parenthood funding cuts, and what's still on the agenda including the Comstock Act.Plus: the DHS government shutdown explained, Democrats' demands for ICE accountability after Operation Metro Surge, the DOJ dropping charges against two Venezuelan men after ICE agents were caught lying under oath, the explosive Pam Bondi hearing on the Epstein files, the Trump-Harvard standoff, Trump Rx and whether it actually helps anyone, America's dropping corruption ranking, and why Americans are feeling less optimistic than ever. Radell wraps with good news including a breakthrough gene therapy for eye disease and AI-assisted breast cancer detection saving lives.New episodes every Sunday. Today, we're doing just that. We'll start with a refresher on Project 2025, then lay out which policy goals from Project 2025 have been implemented, which goals the administration is pursuing but hasn't yet implemented, and which goals it has abandoned or actively undermined. Created by the Heritage Foundation, this 900-plus-page document was a roadmap written for a future conservative president. And while some Republicans tried to distance themselves from Project 2025, the authors and the concepts they wrote about have been embraced by President Donald Trump. Our guest on More To The Story this week is journalist David A. Graham, who did a deep dive into the concepts of Project 2025 for his book, The Project: How Project 2025 Is Reshaping America. Throughout the 2024 election, we all heard about the dangers of Project 2025, yet somehow it's worse than we imagined. Trump continuously said he didn't know anything about it (but he did), and nearly a year after his swearing in, we've seen a huge portion of it already implemented. We're joined by The Atlantic's David A. Graham, author of the new book, “The Project: How Project 2025 is Shaping America.” In just 138 pages, David covers the entire 920-page document. He explains how many of the authors of Project 2025 saw Trump's first term as a failure because he was stopped from accomplishing his core goals - like building the border wall and repealing Obamacare. The answer was to create a shadow administration that would guide his policy decisions if he made it back to office. We run through a variety of issues that are being influenced by Project 2025, including immigration and border security, education, and trade. And we discuss the most influential figure, Russell Vought, current Director of the Office of Management and Budget. One of his main priorities? Inflict pain on government employees. Plus, Al remembers his friends, Rob and Michele Reiner. And the boat bombings are putting members of our military in legal danger under the guidance of Hegseth. Plus, the threats against legislators in Indiana who aren't going along with redistricting, and the broad-based coalition standing up to ICE—including people in costumes and grannies on scooters—has been one of the most successful responses to Trump's immigration agenda.
