At the ACC Kickoff, Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal said he is expecting a “big second wave” coming in recruiting. Although Miami target Olaus Alinen picked Alabama on Friday morning, Hurricanes targets Payton Kirkland (4-star OT), Malik Bryant (4-star LB) and Joenel Aguero (4-star S) are all set to make their announcements on Saturday. Host Alex Donno discusses the feedback he is hearing on Kirkland, Bryant and Aguero heading into their announcements and thinks that “second wave” could begin on Saturday. The feedback for Bryant has been VERY encouraging for Miami, while it's a lot more mixed on Kirkland and Aguero. Miami also awaits a decision from 4-star safety Jayden Bonsu. Bonsu pushed back his announcement but has been trending heavily for the Canes. So has 5-star offensive tackle Samson Okunlola, who has no announcement scheduled as of yet. Donno also explains why the Hurricanes have made an offer to a 14 year old defensive tackle. New reports indicate that it's now a fight between the Miami Hurricanes and Alabama Crimson Tide for 4-star offensive tackle Olaus Alinen. Nick Saban is apparently going “all in” for him, despite Miami trending strongly for this player in recent weeks. Alinen is making his announcement this Friday. Will he pick Miami, or will the late push from Bama get him over the finish line? Alinen is among the top tackles from the Class of 2023. Host Alex Donno breaks down what he's hearing about Alinen's recruitment. It appears Miami are still the favorites but Bama is gaining steam. Is there any cause for concern in the recruitment of 4-star safety Jayden Bonsu? He's strongly projected to pick the Hurricanes, but him moving his announcement from July 20th back to July 23rd is creating some concern. Donno gives his take on whether Miami fans have anything to worry about. Alex reads and answers some awesome questions from listeners to @LockedOnCanes on twitter. What is a reasonable expectation for Mario Cristobal in the next decade or so (we hope) at the University of Miami? Are championships a must? Will Tyler Van Dyke live up to the hype in year 2? What can we expect from Romello Brinson and the rest of Miami's wide receivers? Athlon Sports has released their annual preseason All Conference teams. Miami has 12 players make the 4 All ACC teams, highlighted by OT Zion Nelson and punter Lou Hedley. RB Jaylan Knighton, TE Will Mallory, OL DJ Scaife, CB Tyrique Stevenson and kicker Andres Borregales made the second team. The 3rd team features WR Key'Shawn Smith and DT Leonard Taylor. QB Tyler Van Dyke, DT Jared Harrison-Hunte and safety James Williams snuck in to the 4th team.Host Alex Donno takes a look at the quarterback landscape and makes the case for why the publication didn't necessarily get it wrong when they ranked all 3 of Sam Hartman (WF), Devin Leary (NCST) and Brennan Armstrong (UVA) ahead of TVD. He examines the merits and numbers of all four, but expects Van Dyke to ascend above most, if not all of them, by the end of the season.Donno takes a deep dive on a dozen recruiting prospects who have either visited the University of Miami this past weekend or named the Miami Hurricanes as finalists for their upcoming verbal commitment. It's a big list, a star-studded list, and we hope Miami can land a handful of these players to stack their deck for a college football playoff run in the near future. We recap the recent visits of edge rusher Ta'Mere Robinson, OT Olaus Alinen, and safety Jayden Bonsu.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Penn State football heads into an important weekend for recruiting with the Blue-White game on Saturday. Who is coming up for the weekend? Also, which players might commit soon? Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder and reporter Greg Pickel discuss that and more on the BWI Daily Recruiting Show. They start with the latest update from Roman Catholic defensive end Jameial Lyons. The four-star defensive end moved the date up on his commitment announcement from August to this spring. Snyder and Pickel tell you when and what that means for Penn State. Snyder also gives you the context and back-story to Lyons' first announced date and when he made it. Next, Pickel discusses the ecosystem that Lyons comes from, which is the Philadelphia football scene. He explains the diversity of schools, players, and influences in the region that make it a challenging area to peg in terms of Penn State's home-court advantage. Finally, Pickel drops a tidbit about a player on the opposite side of the state. After they discuss Lyons, Pickel, and Snyder, they move on to discuss a player that earned five-star status in Penn State offensive line commit Alex Birchmeier. He's the second Nittany Lion commit for 2023 to earn the honor and joins future teammate Jven Williams in the recognition. But, more than ranking, Snyder has high praise for how good a player Birchmeier is. The discussion about Birchmeier quickly transitions into the rest of the On300 update, which dropped this week. Birchmeier isn't the only Penn State prospect to move in the rankings. Snyder quickly brings up one that he thinks is still underrated in the process in Life Christian Academy lineman Josh Miller. On the flip side, Penn State safety prospect Cam Seldon dropped in the rankings. Snyder gives some insight about why he might have fallen, and it's not precisely about Seldon's talent. Other players that Snyder mentions are defensive tackle Daevin Hobbs and offensive lineman Oluwatosin Babalade. Snyder spoke with Babalade earlier this week and got a distinct impression about the DeMatha Catholic offensive lineman. From there, they discuss other important players for the Class of 2023 that have Penn State listed in their final schools. Those players include safety Jayden Bonsu and four-star defensive end Desmond Umeozulu. The duo debate whether or not the Nittany Lions are a serious contender for either prospect to land in Happy Valley. Finally, they wrap up with a preview of the week, including a tease for the Friday edition of the BWI Daily, where Snyder will discuss the list of players that plan to attend the first Blue-White game open to fans in two years. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices.
