Brian said George Pickens needs to have a big game tonight and it wouldn't hurt if Najee Harris joined him, along with some of their defensive studs – saying you win a game like this with your stars. He thought Kenny Pickett could have been much more accurate last week and warned us about a difficult test tonight. Baldy said this is a time and moment to play your best football.  It was an ugly Backyard Brawl for the Pitt Panthers, Pat Narduzzi is standing by his QB. How much more will we see Phil Jurkovec under center before a change is made and what will Pitt's record be when it happens?  Stephen A. After a 10-of-32 performance in Saturday's loss to Cincinnati, could Pitt be looking at replacing quarterback Phil Jurkovec? We're looking at Pat Narduzzi's options - and the likelihood that he uses them - on today's Morning Pitt.

 Aaron Rodgers suffers severe injury against the Bills. Dorin says you need to actually play football to be ready and good to go entering the regular season. Cam Heyward didn't play much in preseason and got hurt. JK Dobbins, Jack Conklin, and Rodgers all with significant injuries. Diontae Johnson was also injured. Pat Freiermuth has a chest injury after a huge hit. What does this do to the team without Heyward?  T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith need to bring it and deliver pressure on the quarterback. The rush defense is affected by Cam Heyward's injury. The linebacking core wasn't great against San Francisco but still developing chemistry. They need to stop the run and be better with Cam out. Mike didn't have doubts that the Steelers would find someone great to fill the shoes of Kevin Colbert and they certainly seemed to find that in Omar Khan. Mike explained the comment last week about Pickett being handed down by the Football Gods. The guys asked Mike how good a QB has to be to win a Super Bowl and why they don't all have to be as good as Patrick Mahomes – they have to be a guy that occasionally makes plays on the fly and sometimes in big moments.  We rehashed the conversation with Pat Narduzzi yesterday and talked about why Pitt and Penn State don't play each other.

Pitt head football coach Pat Narduzzi joined the show. Pat talked about his team coming into the season. Pat raved about the smarts of Phil Jurkovec and how he acts like a player who has known the system for a few years. He preached the importance of the punt team. Pat really likes where the team's attitude is right now and said that's a testament to the culture of the program. Pat thinks some teams in the ACC are afraid to play Clemson and that's why the conference changed the format a little bit. He talked about some of the travel issues that could arise with teams on opposite sides of the country being in the same conference. He said it comes down to money and greed. Pat isn't a fan of where the state of college athletics is going and it could mean losing a lot of female sports. Pat said he doesn't have a rooting interest in the Penn State-West Virginia game. Pat put the ball in the court of James Franklin to have Pitt and Penn State play again. Pat also shared some love for Kenny Pickett and is excited about where his career is headed.
