This week Matt & Meredith share TWO glowing customer reviews before things take a turn and they suddenly find themselves transformed into bitter, drunk approximations of Statler & Waldorf — the TRUE stars of The Muppet Show! We complain about colorblind cave-dwellers, arrogant advertisers, smelly Lyft & Uber drivers, and Facebook's terrible job of showing our ads to people over the last month. Oh, and we have a new (very old) sponsor — Mr. "Good people don't smoke marijuana" himself, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III! Don't forget to review/subscribe!

There's been a lot said about the current atrocities happening at the U.S.-Mexico border. Most of the responses have been along political lines, but recently, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III decided to insert scripture as a justification for separating families from their children. Now, it's not surprising that Conservatives are using religion to justify their own warped worldview, but if you're going to use the Bible, you might as well use it correctly. Join us as we delve into the scripture in question. Let's look into Romans 13 and see what is actually being said in the text. I'll try to make sure I don't mention that this particular scripture has been used to justify a whole host of evil deeds over history from slavery to Nazi occupation, but that's not the main point, though it is a notable side point. Our main thrust is to expose the hypocrisy of using scripture to justify the law of the land. It makes no sense and is completely asinine. You have the rule of law that governs the United States of America and you have the holy scriptures that supposedly govern the Kingdom of God. Even for Christian Conservatives, this should be abundantly clear that there are two very different sets of ethics and two very different sets of worldviews at play here. Spoiler alert; they don't blend well together. It's time for Christians to get their heads out of their asses, blink the shit out of their eyes, and look around and see how horrific and abusive it is to separate families in this manner. It's cruel and evil. Isn't Christianity all about vanquishing evil and doing the morally correct thing? Maybe that was forgotten along the way. This is sick. This is twisted. This is beyond evil. None of this should be done in the name of Jesus or scripture. Let's just call it what it has become: spineless, hateful, evil, self-serving, and blind to compassion... or otherwise known as the mantra of the Conservative Christian. Come along for the ride as we skewer through life, culture, and spirituality in the face of a changing world. www.SnarkyFaith.com

Last week, in the wake of our interview with Benny Boom and L.T. Hutton, "All Eyez On Me" was officially released in movie theaters, and the BLR crew gave a very honest review of the biopic. Also, Jeff Sessions, the second step cousin twice removed of Nathan Bedford Forrest, testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee and said absolutely nothing of substance. Also, Philando Castile's murderer was acquitted of all charges. On a lighter note, Amber Rose did it for the 'Gram by taking a boar bristle brush, some Sportin' Waves, and a stocking cap to the hairs on her lady parts. That hair was laid for the gods, y'all. Since Jeff Sessions gave us so much hilarious fodder for this episode, you should have a few cups of some bathtub gin like Beauregard's Memaw used to make back at the plantation while listening.

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (born December 24, 1946) is an American politician and lawyer who is the 84th Attorney General of the United States. Sessions served as the junior United States Senator from Alabama from 1997 until 2017, and is a member of the Republican Party. From 1981 to 1993, he served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama. Sessions was nominated in 1986 to be a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, but his contentious nomination failed. Sessions was elected Attorney General of Alabama in 1994, and to the U.S. Senate in 1996, being re-elected in 2002, 2008, and 2014. During his time in Congress, Sessions was considered one of the most conservative members of the U.S. Senate. An early supporter of Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, Sessions was considered as a possible Vice Presidential nominee, but Indiana governor Mike Pence was ultimately selected for the ticket. In November 2016, then-President-elect Donald Trump nominated Sessions for US Attorney General. He was confirmed on February 8, 2017, with a 52–47 vote in the Senate, and was sworn in on February 9. In his Attorney General confirmation hearings, Sessions said that he did not have contact with Russian officials during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign. In March 2017, news reports revealed that Sessions had twice met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in 2016. Sessions subsequently recused himself from any investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election while some Democratic lawmakers called for his resignation.

SHOW NOTES EPISODE 96: “Massah Jeff's New Job” This week Host Dave Bledsoe learns he and Steve Bannon really aren't so different after all, they share a hug and bottle of whiskey! Maybe that wasn't Steve Bannon but just some rumpled drunk next to him on the subway. On the show this week, we talk about Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, the man to racist for 1986 but just racist enough 2017! (He certainly worked to become so!) Along the way we discuss women who just won't shut up and how to make them. (Hint stop saying stupid shit so they won't NEED to say anything!) We learn why Old White Racists always have one Black friend to testify at their confirmation hearings. (They are LIKE family, but definitely NOT family.) We also discover how growing up with Star Wars was exactly like growing up White in the Jim Crow South. (Darth Vader: Nubian God!) Finally we find out what one should say to a racist. (Many of the words have four letters). Promotional consideration for this week's show comes from Dale Dry Kleaning, keeping your klaverns robes as white as you keep the South! We open the show with pre-911 Dennis Miller and close with a rolicking ditty from the Wiggles! Citations Needed: Only his friends call him Jeff, It's bad, real bad, I mean really, really bad, And it's going to get worse.
