Countries including Burkina Faso, Mali and Syria were added to the expanded list under the Trump administration's travel ban. This move is part of the efforts to tighten U.S. entry standards, after the arrest of an Afghan national in the shooting of two National Guard troops.

President Trump has signed a new travel ban. Travelers from 12 countries will be barred from entering the US, and people from an additional seven countries will face partial travel restrictions. The proclamation goes into effect June 9 — and fulfills something Trump has long-promised: to bring back the travel ban from his first term. But that ban was the subject of many legal challenges.
