Economy Interesting Development – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney Announces New Limits on Foreign Steel and Aluminum, With New 25% Tariff on Steel Derivative Components   Prime Minister Mark Carney is conceding defeat to President Trump and positioning the Canadian economy to be compliant with U.S-Mexico trade regulations. However, Carney is not saying that, indeed he cannot; he's spent over a year telling Canadians that President Trump's trade and economic demands are not going to be accepted by Canada.  However, what he is factually doing is exactly what President Trump has demanded. Prime Minister Carney is saying he is restricting Steel and Aluminum imports from non-free trade agreement countries, and he is lowering the tonnage of Steel and Aluminum that will be permitted for import.  His claim is that this approach will help drive up “domestic demand” for Canadian Steel and Aluminum, but that's ancillary to the real objective. President Trump has demanded Canada stop importing cheap steel and aluminum mostly from China; including manufactured component goods that are made with steel and aluminum (think autos).  Canada would not stop, because they could not stop.  Their manufacturing base, green energy and climate change economy, is more of a component assembly system now. So, President Trump hit Canada with a 35% tariff, and things got ugly.  In June Trump raised the tariff to 50%. The back and forth has gone on all year. Carney now announces restrictions on imported steel and aluminum, as well as restrictions on imported derivative goods that come from steel and aluminum, in combination with a spending plan to bolster the Canadian steel and aluminum manufacturing base.  This ends up shifting the Canadian industrial sector to making steel and aluminum products without Chinese import dependency. Recently, Dr. Guillermo Villa-Trueba, Hispanic Outreach Manager at the MCC, spoke with Dr. Javier Orozco, Executive Director of Human Dignity and Intercultural Affairs for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, and Sister Tracey Horan, Associate Director of Education and Advocacy at the Kino Border Initiative, about the different ways in which Catholics can serve our immigrant brothers and sisters.They shared their experiences at the Southern Border, in pastoral ministry at the archdiocesan level, and in the political arena through lobbying, to provide a broad picture of how the Church advocates for immigrants and refugees in our country.

Last night, President Trump touted his administration's first 100 days' accomplishments at a rally in Warren, Michigan. It was in Warren that the President continued to highlight his progress on securing the southern border, which was one of his most frequent campaign promises. President of the National Border Patrol Council, Paul Perez, joins to break down what they've seen so far in terms of border security and the administration's continued efforts to crack down on illegal immigration. President Trump and his administration have explained the goals of their tariffs are two-fold: first, to ​address U.S. trade imbalances, and second, to bring manufacturing back into America. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Canadians elect liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney to full term Canada's Liberal Party won Monday's national election with voters giving  Mark Carney, a full term as prime minister, according to the national broadcaster CBC/Radio Canada. They chose a seasoned economist and policymaker to guide their country through turbulent times, reports The Epoch Times. The full results should be available early this morning. But the voters' decision sealed a stunning turnaround for the Liberal Party that just months ago seemed all but certain to lose to the Conservative Party, led by career politician Pierre Polievre. Carney has been prime minister since March, when former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepped down. Going into the election, leftist Mark Carney led conservative Pierre Polievre by a 3.5% margin. Canadians favor abortion and homosexual faux marriage Canada is a progressive nation, progressive towards that which is evil. Sadly, 80% of Canadians favor abortion and 76% favor homosexual faux marriage or legal recognition. Canada is the eighth most pro-homosexual nation in the world, on at least one survey. Arson attacks on Canadian churches have doubled Over the last ten years, arson attacks on Canadian churches have risen from about 35 per year to 75 per year. That's about triple the rate of arson attacks on churches in the United Kingdom and the United States, according to a well-documented report from Macdonald-Laurier.   Unbelievably, only about 4% of the arson attacks are investigated and charged. Russia cozies up with North Korea Russia's relationship with North Korea is more solidified, with the official Russian TASS News Agency confirming yesterday that the nations have signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. Russian President Valdimir Putin issued a statement in which he commended North Korean soldiers for what he called “North Korean soldier's heroism, their excellent training, and dedication displayed while fighting, shoulder to shoulder with Russian soldiers, defending our Motherland as their own.” He added that, ”Our North Korean friends' move was guided by a sense of solidarity, justice, and genuine comradery.” North Korea remains the most dangerous country for Christians The Open Doors' World Watch list puts North Korea at the top of the list for the most extreme persecution of Christians in the world. In early 2024, the North Korean government announced stricter regulations and more draconian crackdowns and terrifying persecution of its citizenry. According to official reports, “the authorities publicly executed about 30 middle-school students (early teenagers) for watching a Korean drama on a USB drive. Several teenagers (17 years old) were sentenced to life imprisonment or death for similar reasons in June and July 2024.” Isaiah 10 speaks of these tyrants: “Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of My people of their right.  .. What will you do on the day of punishment, in the ruin that will come from afar? … When the Lord has finished all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, He will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes.”  Trump's first 100 days: Southern border secure, economy faltering Today marks President Donald Trump's first 100 days in office. The U.S. Border Patrol encounters with illegal immigrants plunged to 7,000 in March—the lowest number in at least 25 years. By contrast, there were 250,000 illegal border crossings in December 2023.  Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrest rates have doubled since last year, increasing from 310 to about 650 per day. Plus, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the results of Operation Tidal Wave. LEAVITT: “We are in the beginning stages of carrying out the largest deportation campaign in American history. Over this past weekend, it was announced that through Operation Tidal Wave, a joint effort between ICE Miami and Florida law enforcement agencies, nearly 800 illegal aliens were arrested during the first four days alone. “Among those arrested were a Colombian murderer, an alleged MS-13 and 18th Street gang members, and a Russian with a red notice for manslaughter. “And on the other side of the country, in the early Sunday morning hours, DOJ and DHS together launched a joint raid of an illegal alien underground nightclub used by Tren de Aragua in Colorado Springs, Colorado, DHS took more than 100 illegal aliens into custody, and many drugs and weapons were also seized. “Operation Tidal Wave is a preview of what is to come around this country: Large scale operations that employ our state and local enforcement partners to get criminal illegal aliens off our streets.” While our southern border is more secure and we're deporting illegal criminals, the American economy is faltering. Estimates of the first quarter Gross Domestic Product growth rate are coming in anywhere from -0.4% to 0.8%, a sharp decrease from fourth quarter 2024 results of  2.4%. Housing sales down Housing sales are sagging here in the U.S. Supply of existing homes stands at the highest level since 2016, nine years ago. Sales numbers are down to the lowest levels in 14 years. U.S./Chinese trade down American trade with China is taking a hit.  Vizion Global Ocean Bookings Tracker records a 44% decline on trade, year-over-year.  Overall, U.S. imports are down 22%, year-over-year. Abortion Kill Pill 22 times more dangerous than first reported About two-thirds of the officially-recorded abortions in this country are now conducted by the Abortion Kill Pill.   But now comes this -- the “largest-known study of the abortion pill,” conducted by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Complications with the Abortion Kill Pill are 22 times higher than first reported. Based on extensive research on hundreds of thousands of insurance claims, 10% of women who take the mifepristone kill pill suffer from a serious adverse event, such as an infection or hemorrhage soon afterward. Trinity Evangelical Divinity Seminary caves for survival And finally, a major U.S. evangelical seminary is moving to Canada. Trinity Evangelical Divinity Seminary in Illinois will be joining forces with Trinity Western University in British Columbia. But Trinity Western capitulated to Canada's requirement that students not sign a covenant prohibiting “sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman.” Trinity Divinity School was formed to train ministers for the Evangelical Free Church of America back in 1897. Full time enrollment has dropped from 897 to 402 over the last twenty years. So, how do we preserve the second amendment? Our journalist Justin Chartray wrote an article about this and reported that even though liberals may have the money, numbers, and votes, we can fight back their influence by helping the citizens of Washington State understand the true nature of a firearm. People need to know more about guns than just what popular media tells them. Jeremy Ball, a Washington State citizen who owns "Sharp Shooting Indoor Range and Gun Club", thinks that this is the best course of action to take because even though liberal influence has had a negative impact on guns, we also need to realize that many of us have not done our duty in teaching our kids how to handle guns properly. This blame also falls onto the gun industry itself. "We have not pushed back as an industry to get kids involved. We have failed to provide a positive outlook for them, and a positive outlet for teaching them safe firearm ownership and teaching them some of the things they get to do with guns." (https://www.crosspoliticnews.com/news/a-bright-future-in-sight) Not many people are raised properly around guns anymore, so when the left says that guns are evil, there’s no pushback because guns aren’t a part of our daily life or thought. This allows the left to control the narrative. This allows them to criminalize guns. So, the first step is that we need to get guns back into people’s hands, but we still need to do it in safe contexts. For example, one of the best ways to do this is through creating trap teams in schools that competitively shoot clay pigeons. We can fight back the broad and false narrative about guns by giving people, as Jeremy Ball says, a positive way to think about firearms. While it’s hard to make changes in liberal government and legislation, we need to realize that if we want long term effects, we need to focus on how parents and families understand firearms. We need to shape how the next generation will handle their responsibility of guns in a safe way that still honors everyone's second amendment rights. Jeremy Ball wants to preserve these rights, and he knows it will be hard. However, it’s not impossible: "It probably can be done. But it’s going to take parent(s) who are motivated to do it and to start pushing the issue. They expect gun store owners to lead the charge...but I can’t do it by myself. The approach needs to happen in the community, and if you make enough noise people will listen." This memorandum will give the military more power to protect the Southern Border from external threats. As seen on the White House's website, President Trump, "assigned the Armed Forces of the United States the military missions of repelling the invasion and sealing the United States southern border from unlawful entry to maintain the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of the United States."
