Our hosts all grew up in the music video era. Greats like Hype Williams, Director X, Benny Boom and more have given them and many others within their generation timeless visuals that made classic Hip-Hop/Rap records come alive. As we continue to expand our audience and attempt to capture our music scene within Mass as a whole, it's only right we talk to the ones creating the visuals to OUR classics. Who else better to start with than the super creative ex ball player out of Taunton, Reko aka REEKSHOTME! Reko got her start creatively as a photographer about 6 years ago a then transitioned to videos 3 years later. We caught on to her from work with some of our favorites like the VB boys and BoriRock. She also was in the building with us at the '21 BMAs as she was nominated for Music Videographer of the year for her work with Neemz and other homegrown stars. While she plays the background as a director, Reko's personality is what draws a lot of people to her and makes her network so valuable. Join Charlie MaSheen & KASH as they host REEKSHOTME and talk about her start within the scene, her being sexually liberated and unapologetically displaying it online, and other current topics like Druski & Benzino; which led into to an interesting back-and forth about Hip-Hop vs the trans community. We did not include a #RedCupsAndRatings segment as we honored the life of Blazo Santana instead. RIP King. DONT MISS OUT ON THIS ONE–FULL VISUAL DROPPING 4/20! As a child, Ron Elliot was a lover of comic books. He bought them, he sold them, he read them. He loved comic books. Comic books truly introduced Ron to the world of fantasy and stretched his imagination. While he was an elementary school student, Ron wrote, produced and directed his first play. His teacher was thoroughly impressed. This was the beginning of Ron Elliot the storyteller. The seed was planted. Ron was in love with telling his own stories. The realm of possibility however, was taken to another level, once Ron experienced his first Star Wars film. That was it for him. He knew what his passion was.As a young man, Ron opted to join the military. Even while in the Middle East, fighting for his country in Dessert Storm, Ron thought about a career in the entertainment industry once he returned to the United States. He kept that promise to himself. Upon his return, he tried his hand at music production. He observed his friend’s success in the industry and was determined to produce beats as good as or even better. He admits, it didn’t quite turn out the way he planned. Although he decided against being a music producer, Ron landed a job at storied record label Def Jam Recordings in the promotions dept. It is there that Ron sharpened his skills in marketing among other things.Ron moved up the ranks and through Def Jam he was introduced to the world of music videos. Music videos were just mini movies. The sets, the costumes, the ideas, the scripts all resurrected that little boy who had dreams of writing. Ron used the opportunity to work and learn from the likes of legendary directors like Hype Williams and Benny Boom.Life’s journey would take Ron to BET, MTV, Tempo, NBC and a bevy of other networks. He became one of the most sought-after post-production specialists in the industry, known for his accuracy and speed in editing. But Ron was not done. He started to write, direct, and shoot his own films. He reached his childhood dream. Today, Ron stands on several awards and has no plans of slowing down. His films have been screened at major film festivals and are available on digital platforms.  Ron Elliot that little boy with exceptional writing ability is now Ron Elliot the master storyteller. But wait until you hear what he has planned next. This is the story… thus far… Of Ron Elliot.

We also skim through the throwbacks "1, 2 Step" by Ciara, "Out of My Mind" by B.O.B." and "Put Your Graffiti On Me" by Kat Graham.

Down the road he became the first act on Akon's Kon Live Records under Geffen Records. In 2006, Akon began promoting Ray Lavender under the name “Earl Ray” in numerous interviews, as he promoted his labels and artists. Later his name changed to L.A Ray, then RayBlack, and finally Ray Lavender. As Earl Ray, the track “Dyoing Dyoing Dyoing” featuring Akon was put on the internet, and created buzz for Ray. The song was associated as being his first single; however that never came to fruition. The song “My Girl Gotta Girlfriend” is the first single from his debut album ‘X-Rayted.' The song has already been getting radioplay across the US, and has an enormous buzz due to its content. The track was released to iTunes on July 3rd, 2007 and its official radio impact date was July 10th. The track was produced by Akon and a video is set to be directed by Benny Boom. In 2012 Ray splits with Akon and goes on to continue to write and release new music as well as appear in several movies, “Interludes” (2012), “Angry Kelly” (2014) and “Soul Ties” (to be released in 2018), and several plays. Last week, in the wake of our interview with Benny Boom and L.T. Hutton, "All Eyez On Me" was officially released in movie theaters, and the BLR crew gave a very honest review of the biopic. Also, Jeff Sessions, the second step cousin twice removed of Nathan Bedford Forrest, testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee and said absolutely nothing of substance. Also, Philando Castile's murderer was acquitted of all charges. On a lighter note, Amber Rose did it for the 'Gram by taking a boar bristle brush, some Sportin' Waves, and a stocking cap to the hairs on her lady parts. That hair was laid for the gods, y'all. Since Jeff Sessions gave us so much hilarious fodder for this episode, you should have a few cups of some bathtub gin like Beauregard's Memaw used to make back at the plantation while listening.
