Jim Sherman has been the head baseball coach at the University of Delaware since the 2001 season. He has won 581 games with the Blue Hens, leading them to the NCAA Regionals on two occasions. Sherman also was a star outfielder at Delaware and spent five years playing in the Houston Astros minor league system. Jim Sherman is the Director of Strategic Development at the Vertical Flight Society (VFS), in May 2019, he is responsible for setting and executing the Society’s strategy for promoting membership development and growth. Jim in particular is responsible for supporting the development of the "Electric VTOL Revolution" and expanding the Society’s membership in this fast-growing market segment. Jim worked for SAE International for more than 8 years as the lead event developer for aerospace and automotive technology, including AeroTech, Convergence, Aerospace Systems and Technology Conference (ASTC), International Powered Lift Conference (IPLC), and the Connect2Car program at CES. He also led many other strategic programs that coordinated SAE Aerospace activities. Prior to SAE, Jim worked at BAE Systems in Johnson City, New York (now Endicott) for 15 years as a project engineer leading programs targeted at military ground vehicle power systems, hybrid-electric drive for heavy-duty vehicles (transit buses, class 5/6 trucks). As an individual contributor earlier in his career, he developed flight and engine controls, and systems/software test protocols for the V-22, C-17, F-18, Saab 2000, T700, GE90 and CFM56. Jim also worked at IBM for four years developing digital audio and video compression/decompression algorithms. Jim holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A from Binghamton University. Jim Sherman began studying all forms of strange phenomenon after getting the wits scared out of him watching In Search of...starring Leonard Nimoy. He recalls hearing 'footsteps" outside his door late at night and cowering under the covers. These steps were actually his own racing heart beats. Fast-forward many years and countless crytozoological and paranormal books later and we find Jim again cowering inside a sleeping bag while something very real messes with his tent and throws rocks around. It was the last experience that made an important change in Jim's life. The long-time outdoorsman was afraid to hunt and camp. He found the woods, once a place of pleasant solitude, to now be forbidding and scary. He decided to attack the problem directly. He poured into research and found others who have experienced similar episodes while camping. Could his experience be related to Sasquatch? Jim decided to go on an expedition to find out. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) hosts these events and there is an emphasis on learning through experience from people who have seen and experienced some pretty incredible things. Jim was hooked and was eventually asked to be an investigator for his home state of Michigan. Jim has been a featured speaker at multiple conferences, assisted with the production of and appeared on Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot, organized BFRO expeditions, and even wrote a book on the subject Facing the Big Hairy Monkey-Thing: Looking for Sasquatch in the Real World. In the normal world he is a husband and has a very cool daughter. He teaches history and coaches both track and field and cross country.
