"Burgwin-Wright Presents... Outlander in the Cape Fear" explores the history of Colonial North Carolina through its depiction in the book and TV series "Outlander." On this week's episode, we are jumping into the future for a look at the current culture of Scottish heritage in North Carolina. The story of the Scots in America begins in the early 1700s, before Claire and Jamie Fraser arrive in 1767 in the "Outlander" story. The immigration of those Highlanders put down roots that have flourished into a thriving present-day community that celebrates its ancestors through Scottish Societies and events like the Port City Highland Games on May 14. Acomi and Turk182 strap on inhibitor collars, tattoo their faces, and wait for the Sentinels to come, as they watch 20th Century Fox's The New Mutants. Very loosely based on the Marvel comics series by Chris Claremont, Bob McLeod, and Bill Sienkiewicz. Using the Demon Bear storyline as the basis of the film, it forces the characters and story to move forward by imprisoning the powerful mutants in a mental institution, referred to as a training facility (that they can't leave). Under the guise of being trained to become members of the X-Men, the characters "bond" in the form of insulting and fighting each other, while learning how to control their powers in the process. All this, so they can fight the psychological Demon Bear, brought to the facility in the mind of the newest patient, Danielle Moonstar. With only a half of the characters resembling their comic book counterparts, and a story that only resembles the name, prepare to watch another Fox comic book atrocity. Face Front Hello, and welcome to episode 308 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. To be very blunt, Marvel Two-in-One #51 is a Very Good Comic. Guest writer Peter Gillis crafts a story where The Thing has to team up with Nick Fury and some newer Avengers to defend the SHIELD Helicarrier, and on the strength of the writing, this would be a pretty good comic. But then there's the guest art from Frank Miller, at a very early stage in his career, and he takes the issue to an entirely new level. Peter Gillis, Frank Miller, Bob McLeod, Glynis Wein, Tom Orzechowski, Roger Stern, Jim Shooter, and George Perez present Marvel Two-in-One #51, with Ms Marvel, The Beast, Wonder Man, Nick Fury, a fantastic red alert, and an unstable Fantasticar. And on top of this, we also spend time with Godzilla, King Of The Monsters #22, where it turns out that dumping Godzilla through a time machine wasn't the best idea in the world, and Ben Grimm eats Doctor Doom's time platform. But before all of that, we sit down to give our very immediate thoughts on the passing of Fantastic Four co-creator and Marvel figurehead Stan Lee.
