POPULARITY
Who do the stars turn to when they want to have a good time? It's a rare occasion that you meet someone who has as much experience working with some of the biggest names in both sports and music as Joey Scoleri. You may know him better by his on-air name of Joey Vendetta which he adopted all the way back in the 80's during his first stint with the Toronto Radio Station Q107. From there he networked his way through the ranks of the music industry until solidifying a position with Live Nation and working closely with some of the most popular artists of all time. Today Joey sits down with us to explain exactly how a radio personality in Toronto can end up helping Coldplay set up their tour, or throwing the most exclusive parties at the NHL All-Star Game. The Stanley Cup Final is upon us! We at the Two Man Forecheck are ready for this and we have many stories regarding the teams which will take part in the festivities. Starting with a post mortem for the Isles and the Golden Knights, we break down a tweet from Kerry Fraser regarding the officiating in this year's playoffs and a tweet from Robin Lehner explaining his motivation prior to game 4 against the Canadiens. We talk about awards...even ones not given out by the NHL. The Sports Representative of the Year was Octagon...they rep many players across all the sports including Jaro Halak and Marc-Andre Fleury. Also, the GM of the Year goes to Lou Lamoriello and the Messier Award goes to Patrice Bergeron. The Kraken make some noise hiring Dave Hakstol as their first head coach and J.T. Brown officially retires and joins the Kraken TV crew. Tom Kurvers, 11 year NHL vet and assistant GM of the Wild and Lightning has passed away at 58. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and extended NHL Family. We mention a couple other tweets from Andrew Taverna (a poll regarding Bergeron as a top 5 two way forward) and Joey Vendetta (regarding Matt Martin). We break down the All USHL teams 1-3 and finally give our picks for the Stanley Cup. A packed show to be sure, and plenty to comment on so give us your feedback and Enjoy the Show!
Episode Notes:Something that is extremely important when it comes to relationships is really knowing who you are working with. Joey understands that working in the concert business, a lot of what goes on is about the customer, but he also knows that a large part of his job is working with many of Live Nation's partners and different stakeholders.3 Takeaways:Rejection is something that happens, and it's okay. It's very important to know and understand that if you know you are okay with rejection you will have more of a chance to succeed.Don't forget to be happy. Everyone wants to be successful in their job, but in reality, being happy is the definition of success. When you talk to a customer or a client like they are a real person, just from that alone you have already got their attention because you're treating them like they are a real person and they matter.Key Quotes:“There are so many things that go into putting on an event of any sort, not just concerts, whether it's insurance, whether it's liability, whether it's logistics, whether it's the security that no one ever thinks about it, they just come to the event and not that they think it just magically appeared, but at times it seems like it just magically appeared, but make no mistake, there is a ton of work that goes into it”“The [customer] asks you the question what's going on because you've said to them, I'm not having a great day. So now you've basically made yourself vulnerable. That's authentic...Now. All of a sudden, in a matter of 15 seconds, my bond with you was strengthened exponentially.""The more you meet people and the more you treat them just like people and the more you cheat, look at them to see who they are, the more real and rewarding that interaction can be."Thank you to our friendsThis episode is brought to you by IBM.
