This is the home of the Two Man ForeCheck: The Hockey Podcast you deserve. What is it about: Hockey Hockey Hockey With occasional splashes of hockey. More specifically we focus on the NHL, major events, NCAA hockey, and all the things that happen on the ice and in the front office.
One week into the new year and the All Star game is around the corner. We start the conversation with talk about the coming uptick in moves as the deadline approaches. Kane, Toews and others that will be available and where they will end up. We then segue into the Bruins GM, Don Sweeney, and how he has done for the last three years. Has he improved? We touch on some milestones and those that are on the horizon but very close. Bo Horvat's name is linked to going everywhere; add Seattle to that mix. Matt Dumba will be a UFA at the end of the season...will he make it to the end of the season with the Wild? We talk about our new Twitter Poll and the results from our last one (link below). The Penguins seem to have an issue with consistency and Jeff Marek talked to Shayna Goldman about this very subject. We add our two cents. Finally, is the Winter Classic still about the game or is it about the spectacle? We attempt to answer the question. Congrats to Victor Hedman and the new addition to his family and we wish a full recovery to Damar Hamlin in Buffalo! Give us a listen and enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1612115499793453078
As the calendar rolls over into the year 2023, we at the Two Man Forecheck wish everyone a fabulous new year and much luck in whatever you do! Here we continue with the hockey talk, but start with sad news of the passing of Kris Letang's father. He wasn't scheduled to play today however this is a blow to the Letang family and we send our prayers and condolences to them. Matthew Poitras recorded a hat trick on December 28 and was player of the night. The Bruins may have something here based on his performance over the last season and a half. Jamie Benn has moved into second in goals scored for the Dallas Stars, but is still 200+ goals behind Mike Modano. Will Jamie catch him? Patrice Bergeron is in 3rd in points for Bruins all time with Esposito (an ongoing theme), but is there any movement in other categories for the 5 time Selke winner? Connor Bedard is clearly going to be the number one overall pick this year, but his WJC stats indicate that he is clearly something special. Ovi has recorded his 30th hat trick of his career, which puts him at 806. He will catch Gretzky, but will he get to 1,000 goals? Finally we close out the first show of the new year with some second half questions that can only be answered over the course of the next few months. So join in and start a new tradition listening to the Two Man Forecheck. Let us know what you think and...Enjoy the Show! Happy New Year!
Christmas has come and gone, and we continue for the break to come to an end, but there is still plenty to talk about. The World Junior Tournament has started and the Canadian team has lost a game! We also looked at a couple B's prospects taking part in the tourney. We start the show with the investigation into the B's signing of Mitchell Miller only to have no misconduct found on their part. It was to be independent, but since the B's paid for it, independence comes into question. The Hamburglar, Andrew Hammond, has retired due to an injury which he will not fully recover from in his ankle. Ryder Getzlaf has taken the role of junior reporter for the day and run with it, entertaining us in the process. See the link below. We look back at an older show and discover that there has not been much change in the officiating in the NHL while breaking down a college game where a player was given a major penalty for an incident that wasn't as well as a knee to knee hit by Sam Bennett. We talk about how underrated William Nylander is for the Leafs and touch on players for the Bruins that could potentially win awards this season. Hope everyone is having a fabulous holiday season but lets get back to the game of Hockey. Enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/AnaheimDucks/status/1605673788045025282
Well, Christmas is right around the corner, but here at the Two Man Forecheck we are celebrating Show number 300! And even though it is a Monday night, we are pulling out the stops to give you another packed show. We start with a little history and hi-jinks before bantering about the tantrum thrown by Jacob Trouba. Has he inspired his team or is there something else at work? Ovi has reached 800 goals and did it with a hat trick! He will break Gretzky's record we believe, so the new question is...will he reach 1000? Ryan Reaves hit Filip Hronek pretty hard in their last match up, but was it a legal hit? We discuss. The Winnipeg Jets are suffering through many injuries this season, so can they sustain their current level of success? We review the PHF standings and talk about the Boston Pride. A prospect has crossed our desks that may be worth a watch...Andrew Cristall of the Kelowna Rockets. We break down the results of our last Twitter Poll and Mike tells us why he's worried about the current state of the Bruins. As stated, a packed show so give us a listen and stick around for the next 300! Enjoy the show! Oh yeah...Don't forget the World Junior Tournament later this month or the Boston Beanpot Tournaments in February 2023!
As we close in on Christmas the standings have not changed much and we have to start accepting that the Devils are for real. But we talk about a different team that no one is paying attention to...the Winnipeg Jets. Taylor Hall has been tagged as a cancer in the locker room, but his recent post game interview shows a much different side to the winger. Jack Hughes has set a record for the longest shift in a game at 6 minutes and 2 seconds. We update Evander Kane and the Caps injuries and players returning. Tage Thompson has recorded his second 6 point night of the season. We discuss a few B's prospects and Jack Studnicka. Finally, we posit evidence that Marner and Matthews are the new Sedin twins with their high talent level with very little impact in the playoffs...followed with a Twitter Poll question (link below). Much to break down and comment on, so let us know how you feel and Enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1601997351962710016
The calendar has shifted to December so we now have to start believing in the standings. Devils are on their way and the Kraken are as well. Brock Boeser is swirling in the rumor mill again, but this time it may be for real. Here we also dive into the most recent Athletic NHL Power Rankings from December 2. Kris Letang had a stroke and is out indefinitely. While not his first, he has said he will be back soon and we wish him a speedy, full recovery. Mitch Marner is on a ridiculous 19 game point streak which no one is talking about. Roope Hintz signed an 8 year extension which will pay him more than Jason Robertson, but we can explain it. Carter Hart is part of one of the flukiest goals we've seen in a while. Jack Quinn scores a crazy shootout goal and Brady Tkachuk scores a Gordie Howe hat trick and an OT winner (a first). We discuss last week's twitter poll and launch a new one (link below). Finally, the salary cap may increase next season by as much as 4 million dollars. So much to discuss and even content not mentioned here. Let us know and Enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1599448350360670208
Thanksgiving in America has come and gone, are the standings for real? We discuss them and launch a Twitter Poll asking about the biggest surprise (link below). We also break down the Kraken roster and discuss St. Louis' biggest issues. David Poile has been a GM for 1500 wins with two organizations. Is this a hollow award? We discuss. John Tortorella was interviewed pre-game about coaching and today's NHL. His comments are telling. We crush the Twitter Poll results from last week and determine that Kane is probably more likely to be traded. Ryan Reaves was traded to the Minnesota Wild. Finally, Val James and Jason Pominville have been inducted into the Rochester Americans Hall of Fame. Lots to digest so give a listen and let us know what you are thinking. Enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1596905336824246273
As we approach Thanksgiving in the U.S., we stop and look at the standings, which are still in upheaval but starting to take shape. We examine the connection between the Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames as well as Bobby Lou and Tim Thomas. Scott Darling made some comments while doing analysis for the 'Hawks. Jack Hughes is the fifth youngest in Devils' history to hit 50 goals so we talk about him and other milestones. John Tortorella has coached 1400 games, most by an American born coach. We also find some Tort gold revealing why in-game interviews are not a good idea (See the link below). Erik Karlsson has had a resurgence this season so we talk about him and potential trade destinations. We have a Twitter Poll up regarding him and Patrick Kane (See below). Brady Tkachuk has come out in defense of his coach, as well as other Ottawa issues. Finally, we talk about dream line mates for Ovi and Crosby. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Enjoy the Show! Twitter Poll: https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1594353317622484993 Tortorella: https://twitter.com/br_openice/status/1592689788444114944?s=46&t=bgOHSd0MegdK6k1eiwsS0w
With the standings still up in the air, we don't have a clear picture of who is top of the league. Right now Boston and Vegas are up there. This week we touch on a couple Boston Bruins stories featuring Connor Clifton and Jim Montgomery. We start with an Evander Kane update and we break down the St. Louis Blues. Dominic Tiano (@DominicTiano) tweeted about trading Derek Forbort...we discuss. We have a discourse regarding the best goalie in Boston, currently it would be Corrine Schroeder of the Pride. Thomas Freel wants other players to hate him, which reminds us of a couple other NHL players. Tkachuk suspended, along with the Toronto Six head coach. Finally, there is the Sled Hockey Classic happening November 17-20 in Anaheim, California. So much hockey related content so listen and tell us what you think. Enjoy the Show!
The calendar has turned over to November and the Bruins have unfortunately (for them) lost their second game. Still, we can't say with any degree of accuracy who will come out on top as the standings are topsy turvy. We start this week's show with two teams that are struggling; the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Toronto Maple Leafs. We delve into what may be a tough situation when the Bruins get all their defensemen back. Eight players for six spots doesn't work. The B's have also inked Mitchell Miller and we put a timer on the conversation for this topic (first time for everything!). There are more than a few milestones coming up for players and we discuss them here. The Coyotes have an interesting situation with visiting dressing areas at their arena; we take a look. Is Kris Letang a hall of famer? We discuss and give our opinions as well as take a look at the Twitter Poll. Let us know if you think he is or isn't and why. Enjoy the Show!
After nine games we are nowhere near where we should be seeing some teams in the standings. We discuss which head coach will be the first to get the axe; Eakins, Larson, Boudreau, D.J. Smith or Gallant? We delve into a discussion of Vancouver potential moves. Brandon Carlo has returned from injury which leads into a convo around our Twitter Poll results as to which Bruins defenseman will bring back the highest return. Toews and Kane are both in the last year of their contracts with the 'Hawks, so which one stays and which one goes? We bandy about various landing spots for Bo Horvat, as listed by Lyle Richardson. Devan Dubnyk has called it a career however Carey Price is not ready to do so. Finally, we talk frankly about Phil Kessel being a hall of famer or not. So much to digest, so let us know what you think and Enjoy the Show!
Two weeks in and things are still a bit topsy turvy standings-wise, but we continue on. Eric Staal has returned to the NHL and Joe Pavelski nets a hat trick. The PWHPA has been downsized to four teams versus the PHF's seven. Maybe now is the time to start considering a merger. The Boston Pride will do something almost unheard of in today's hockey...play two games in 24 hours. We bring back an old segment...Add One! Chris runs down some stats for the Bruins, keeping in mind that they are only 6 games into the season. Connor Clifton is a bit of a focus here as he is playing top minutes this season. We divulge the results of last week's Twitter Poll and it was literally meh. We unleash a new Twitter Poll (link below) and finish up with the Kraken getting a soundtrack written by Hans Zimmer. A great show to be sure, so listen, comment and Enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1584219891279634432
The new NHL season has begun and some teams have played as many as four games already. With such a small sample size, we have already spotted some surprises early in the campaign. The bulk of the show revolves around a Bleacher Report story by Lyle Richardson (with some help) regarding a way too early 2023 mock draft. We dive into the first 20 picks, and identify some surprises, some too high picks, some too low and a lack of defensemen. We have results of two Twitter polls, one around the strongest defense in the East and another regarding Patrick Kane staying in Chicago in a chase for the all time points lead for the Blackhawks. We touch on the Ian Cole investigation and a quick update on Brad Marchand. Everyone enjoy the new season, and give us a listen. Let us know what you think and Enjoy the Show!
We are less than a week from the start of the season so the excitement is at a fever pitch. We delve into what the opening night lineup could look like for the Boston Bruins. Matt Grzelcyk could be back sooner than expected, as could Taylor Hall. Matthew Barzal and Mackenzie Weegar have signed extensions with their respective clubs and Jason Robertson has finally signed with the Stars. Nick Goss feels the B's would be best served with Swayman at number one in net. Greg Wyshynski predicts that the Oilers will win the Cup, but Chris disagrees. TopDownHockey has laid out their predictions for the Division rankings at the end of the season and Kevin Paul Dupont has spitballed a trade for Patrick Kane, but we shot down the deal based on what would be heading back to Chicago. So much covered and lots more to discuss, so listen, comment and Enjoy the Show!
The NHL season is almost upon us, and pre-season games are happening! With that in mind, we dive into some rather deep predictions for the upcoming NHL season. Buoy has finally joined the Kraken organization however Jason Robertson still hasn't joined the Stars. We discuss this as well as the state of the Dallas organization. One of our predictions led to a conversation regarding the Leafs using Mitch Marner on defense. We delve into the Bruins roster and make predictions on who will make the big club out of camp. Finally, we re-visit one of the biggest trades in NHL history that saw Erik Karlsson go to San Jose which has set up the Senators for years to come. All this and a Twitter Poll to boot! So much to discuss and comment on so listen and Enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1576587128212897792
Training camps are underway! We start with a sneaky trade that has Lundkvist moving from the Rangers to Dallas. Brendan Gallagher gave a press conference and Seth Jones sat down for an interview. We break them all down. Matt Grzelcyk is recovering nicely from his shoulder surgery and talks about where he is at. The Bruins have issued a PTO to Anton Stralman who should be playing for the big club when the season starts. Zdeno Chara has retired after signing a 1 day contract with the B's. Brett Harrison has been sent back to Juniors and the first preseason game has taken place. Finally, we discuss the results of the Twitter Poll from last week. The NHL will have ads on jerseys starting this season. We talk about the youth on the Coyotes and we have a Twitter Poll up (link below). Shane Doan is taking a step back in the 'Yotes organization and the Vancouver Giants' head coach Michael Dyck expects that Fabian Lysell is done in the WHL. Finally, we close with alligators at the NHL All Star Game! Lots of content to discuss and don't forget to vote! Enjoy the Show! https://twitter.com/pucksage/status/1571504242799611911

Chris should be back next week which means the utter lack of supervision for Mike/PuckSage is over. This week he babbled about a landing spot for Rangers prospect Nils Lundqvist, a PTO for the undrafted Keltie Jeri-Leon in Boston, there's mention of the WJC, Jason Robertson, PK Subban, the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights and more.
As we inch closer to the new NHL season, the Two Man Forecheck continues to keep you informed. With 53 days until camps begin, we continue to march forward with some stimulating hockey talk. There are, at present 10 teams over the cap, some with multiple signings still to make. The Canucks are an interesting subject and we break down what they may have to do in the near future. The Bruins are still talking to Pavel Zacha, but have not made any moves on Bergeron, Krejci or Pasta. J.T. Miller is still a Canuck, but should the Devils make an offer to pluck him away? What would that move look like? Should it include Damon Severson? Matthew Tkachuk has not been a Panther long, but his first press conference has shown us he already is a diehard Panther! We talk about Philly signings and other teams and close out the show with a tweet that can only be described as foolish. Give us a listen and tell us what you think! Look for the Twitter poll on Thatcher Demko and Enjoy the Show!

Kane (and possibly Toews) will probably be moved, so we discuss landing spots. B's have a lot of work still to do, so we talk about potential moves. New Jersey has themselves a new Assistant GM...Kate Madigan. She has been in the Devil's system for a few years, so congratulations to Kate. San Jose has hired a new GM...Mike Grier! His first task will be to hire a head coach. Congrats Mike! We look back at the 2012 draft, and thanks to the NHL redrafting the top 10. We close out the fun with a Danny Deraney(@DannyDeraney) tweet reminding us that hockey can be fun with a clip from the archives showing the 1975 Chicago Blackhawks playing the cast of Sesame Street. Michael Misa has been granted exceptional status by the OHL and will be playing as a 15 year old. Igor Shesterkin has broken a record for goal tenders playing in their first 20 playoff games, yet another accolade for the young net minder. We took notice of Kyle Okposo's resurgence this season as he has reached the 20 goal mark and others that have been reinvigorated. Mike Bossy has passed away and the NHL has lost a great player and ambassador of the game. We break down the issue of Connor McMichael of the Capitals and finish up with our Twitter Poll from last week regarding the Rangers catching the 'Canes. Heated discussion this week highlights the show this week. The Boston Pride repeat as Isobel Cup Champions, starting the dynasty talk in Boston. Ryan Getzlaf has announced his retirement at the end of this season, further dwindling the number of active players still in the league from the 2003 draft. A local Boston host intimated that Nick Foligno may have played his last game in Columbus, raising the question about his future. The Kings are playing important games now as they gear up for the playoffs. We have a spirited discussion over our Twitter Poll this week. Should the B's have acquired a playoff veteran net minder? Huberdeau has hit another milestone, getting 100 points, the first time it has happened in the Panthers history. The Denver Pioneers have won the NCAA Championship. The Minnesota State Mavericks goalie, Dryden McKay is undrafted and should have received offers by now. Finally we talk about other prospects including Conor Bedard. Lively show for all to listen, comment on and Enjoy!
April has begun...playoffs are near! The Two Man Forecheck will be making predictions...but not this week. We talk Vegas' chance to make the playoffs and break down our first Twitter Poll. Huberdeau & Kaprizoff have broken records and Makar has matched one. We delve into the 11 head coaches who are either on expiring contracts, have the "interim" tag, or both. What to expect in each situation and where they might be at the end of the season. Keith Yandle's iron man streak will end on Sunday night, a decision reached "mutually" for the good of the team. Kessel is next on the list but will he be around next season? We discuss undrafted college FA signings and a first goal scored by Marc McLaughlin. Darnell Nurse still doesn't appear to get the respect he deserves in our second Twitter Poll and finally we chew on Stuart Skinner's deserving of the number one job in Edmonton. Enjoy the Show!
The deadline has come and gone, now on to the playoffs! We talk deadline winners, The 'Canes at the deadline and the possibility of extending the salary cap to the playoffs. A head coach loses control of his faculties at a U13 game, Marchand gets cereal immortality and Pasta climbs the B's record books. Darnell Nurse is vastly underpaid (until his next contract kicks in), and is Makar really better than Roman Josi? Filip Forsberg has set new highs for the Predators (and they won't be signing him?) and Seguin is the first to 300 in his draft class. Lindenwood University will join Division 1 men's ice hockey (the women's program already exists!) and the Isobel Cup is in full swing. Taylor Heise has won the Patty Kazmaier Award (Top women's college hockey player) and Fabian Lysell is thrown under the bus of sorts by Don Sweeney. Finally we talk DeBrusk and his new extension. Listen, Comment and Enjoy the Show!
The trade deadline is about 27 hours away and the deals have already begun. We delve into the ones that have already taken place but we start with an injury to Aaron Ekblad. We break down the financial and home situation that has become an embarrassment to the NHL of the Arizona Coyotes. The deals are flying but there hasn't been a "blockbuster" deal as of yet. Jake DeBrusk is still a Bruin as of this recording, and our Twitter Poll shows a change in belief that he will not be dealt at the deadline. Filip Forsberg has set a new franchise record for goals and is on the cusp of a couple more milestones. Finally, the Golden Knights could be facing the end of an era as they could potentially miss out on the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Lots to discuss with more to come so tell us what you think and Enjoy the Show!
Everyone's favorite time of year is fast approaching...the trade deadline. Gaudreau will be a UFA. What will it take to re-sign him? Landeskog and Girard will be out for the foreseeable future for the Avs, can they hang on to the number one spot in the west? The USA Sled Hockey team has won gold at the Paralympic Games, beating Canada 5-0. Joe Pavelski has extended for one year with the Stars, and we break down how he is the best player on that team. We have two Twitter polls that we break down and we talk about a 17 year old in the WHL who has tied Theo Fleury's record...Brayden Yager. Again a big show, so give us a listen and Enjoy the Show!
We start out with the issues in Ukraine and Eugene Melnyk's statement. Jon Cooper was ejected for...we have no idea. Jesper Bratt...the point per game player never talked about. Northeastern Huskies Women's Ice Hockey team win Hockey East for the fifth year in a row! We talk milestones coming up and whether Jonathan Quick should be a hall of famer, or T.J. Oshie for that matter. Josh Pauls and the USA Sled Hockey team are looking for another medal at the Paralympic Games. Calgary's top 5 scorers all time will soon change with the addition of Johnny Gaudreau. Nick Schmaltz has a 7 point night, first time since 2012. Chara and Jack Johnson hit milestones. Quinn Hughes hits on pace for the most 40+ point seasons for a Vancouver defenseman. The Collingwood Blues (OJHL) staff assist a person with a heart situation and save his life with a defibrillator. Frank Seravalli shows us 5 trade targets that could have the impact of Goodrow or Coleman. We break down playoff odds, the PHF television schedule (in Canada), and two tweets that show just how much hockey needs to be marketed better in the States. All this and a Twitter Poll to boot! Let us know what you think and Enjoy the Show!
Lots to talk about after the Olympics and heading towards the trade deadline. We look at GM hires for the Bruins and around the league. Bergeron for Selke appears to be picking up steam, as well as Milbury's interview with Greg Hill on WEEI. Tyler Tumminia resigns as commissioner of the PHF. Greg Carvel, head coach of UMass should be on lists for NHL head coaching vacancies. Austin Watson suspended two games for his hit on Jack Ahcan. Today we discuss the comments from Rocky Wirtz and Gary Bettman surrounding the Blackhawks' situation and it's link to Brad Aldrich. We break down the All Star Event and the Skills Competition. Anaheim has hired itself a new GM...Pat Verbeek. Being the most surprising team this season, we touch on the future and what Verbeek will be dealing with, and we compare and contrast the Ducks with the Red Wings, Verbeek's previous employer. The KHL is going straight to their playoffs after the Olympic break, which could leave many players looking for somewhere else to play for the rest of the season. Eric Staal has been named captain of the Canadian Olympic Team. Could the Bruins acquire both J.T. Miller and John Klinberg? Finally, the Arizona Coyotes are turning to Arizona State University to play their home games for the next 3 seasons. Action packed, the episode provides much food for thought. Give us a listen and Enjoy the Show!
WeA are approaching the "Olympic break" and after that the All-Star break in the NHL so the trade deadline silliness looms close on the horizon. We talk this week about Jacob Panetta, who was suspended by the ECHL, Aaron Dell, who was suspended 3 games for his hit on Drake Batherson and we touch on the hit by Taylor Hall on Nathan McKinnon. We discuss Denver homegrowns in the NHL. Brady Tkachuk will be taking Batherson's place at the All Star game, and it is deserved. The PHF had their all star game last night (the 29th) but it was not very well announced or advertised. Evander Kane has signed with the Oilers (as Mike predicted) and scored a goal in his first game. Claude Julien has fallen and broken a few ribs. Not coaching the Canadian National team, Jeremy Colliton will step in. We talk Josh Ho-Sang, Claude Giroux and hockey prospects both currently drafted and those that could be drafted this summer. Lots of content for your listening pleasure, so Enjoy the Show!
Almost through July and steaming toward the Olympic break, we keep on with the hockey talk. Both the AHL and the ECHL have had incidents involving players making racial gestures at another player. While Krystof Hrabik was suspended 30 games in the AHL, the ECHL is still conducting its investigation into Jacob Panetta. We break down a list of players that have a $5m cap hit and have played less than 20 games. Not a small list. We talk Philly and Seattle issues and what to fix. Montreal has a new GM, Kent Hughes, and we talk about the needs for the Habs. DeBrusk is still a Bruin. Marchand lives in the 'Canes' heads rent free and Chicago has 3 untouchables that don't include DeBrincat, Kubalik and Dach. Could Evander Kane end up on the Caps? And finally, is Tuukka still "elite"? So much to take in! Tell us what you think and Enjoy the Show!
Willie O'Ree's number will soon be raised to the rafters in TD Garden in Boston, and it has been long enough. We talk about his impact on youth and hockey as well as his effect on the NHL. Chris Wideman has earned a one game suspension for a head butt, an infraction so egregious that you can be penalized just for attempting one. The Kings are bringing in Marc Bergevin to be a senior advisor to the GM. There are always all star snubs, but this season appears to have two that are over the top...Brad Marchand and Nasem Kadri. Binnington is still the number one in St. Louis...why? Matt Grzelcyk had himself a 5 point night. Last time was by some guy named Bourque. Bowen Byram is out indefinitely due to concussions and we wish him a full recovery. Hopefully the Avs do not rush him back in any way. We had 3 Twitter Polls out...Evander Kane to the Oilers, DeBrusk and Moore for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jack Quinn in Buffalo. Finally we touch on Tyler Muszelik, goaltender for the USA under 18s who is draft eligible this year. Lots to like, listen to and comment on, so let us hear from you and Enjoy the Show!
The new year is behind us, the virus is around us and the NHL pushes on, so we will as well. Evander Kane will have his contract terminated by the San Jose Sharks in another move to get the much maligned winger out of town. His money will help re-sign Tomas Hertl among others this off-season. Where could he land? The Calgary Flames deal for a new arena has died and they will continue to play in the Saddledome, but at least they have a home. The Arizona Coyotes will be homeless as of June 30th. To quote the Glendale AZ city manager, Kevin Phelps, "We decided we weren't going to wait until the kids were out of high school to get the divorce." The NHL could not get the owner of the Phoenix Suns to help out, and a new arena will take as much as 6 years to build. Where will they be next season? Tuukka Rask has signed a professional tryout with the Providence Bruins, but may not play for them before joining the big club. David Krejci, who has multiple times stated that he will not be returning to the B's, is puzzled by the move of Pastrnak to the second line. We break down 5 freshman defensemen around college hockey and the Twitter Poll from last week. We also have a new Twitter Poll out for everyone to vote on. Lots to comment on and interact with us. Enjoy the Show!
The first show of the new year for the Two Man Forecheck and its full of stories (feel good and otherwise). USA has also released the roster for the women's Olympic team and there are many familiar names on it. Dean Evason has inked a new 3 year deal with the Minnesota Wild. We talk about taxi squads and their purpose. The Kraken and Canucks honor a fan who helped out assistant Red Hamilton by giving her $10,000 toward medical school for pointing out a mole that turned out to be cancerous. The World Juniors were cancelled for the men after announcing that the women's tournament was cancelled. Could there have been backlash over cancelling one and not the other? Dmitri Samorukov played in his first NHL game and only saw 2:28 of ice time before being benched for the remainder. How much psychological damage have the Oilers done to this player? There are many possibles on the Rangers for deadline day but we identify a couple of surprises. Sean Day has finally broken into the NHL and the Maine Mariners have signed a 6'4" center from Belgium. And some discussion about GMs. So much to talk about this week...Enjoy the Show.
