In Saturday's WNBA 2025 Season Opening Game, the Chicago Sky were handled by the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis. In Episode 1021, Sean goes solo to react to the news that Alvin Williams will be replacing Leo Rautins on Sportsnet's Toronto Raptors broadcasts this year, before digging into a handful of mailbag questions from YouTube. First he talks about why the hiring of Williams is welcome news for a broadcast that has gotten a little stale in recent years, despite Leo being a Day One franchise icon. In addition, Sean makes a plea to hear more of Meghan McPeak, Amy Audibert and Kia Nurse on the broadcasts this season as well. Next, Sean fields some listener questions about possible outcomes for Goran Dragic this year, which projected reserves could steal a starting gig by season's end, the veteran Raptors in line to make the biggest leaps, and the Pascal Siakam-Chris Boucher front court combination.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!SweatBlockGet it today for 20% off at SweatBlock.com with promo code LockedOn, or at Amazon and CVS.Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. UConn women's basketball's non-conference schedule is beginning to come together with the school announcing two more opponents for next season: Louisville and Tennessee. We start with the long-awaited matchup with the Cardinals, recapping the road it took to finally get this game and discussing why we're excited about it. We also look at the intriguing point guard matchup between UConn's Paige Bueckers and Louisville's Hailey Van Lith. After that, we get into the renewal of the Tennessee series, something we weren't necessarily expecting based on Geno Auriemma's comments after the most recent game. Though it may not be the rivalry that it was in the late ‘90s and early 2000's, we explain why UConn-Tennessee is still so important to women's college basketball. Finally, we break down the big storylines surrounding former Huskies in the WNBA including Diana Taurasi's fractured sternum, Kia Nurse's incredible buzzer-beater, Stewie being Stewie, Tina Charles dominating and more. It's a weird year in the WNBA, especially for Husky fans who follow the league. For a variety of reasons, Breanna Stewart, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, and Maya Moore, four of the best to ever play the game, are missing all or most of the season. Even so, three former Huskies managed to earn All-Star nods as Kia Nurse was named a starter, Tina Charles was named a reserve, and rookie Napheesa Collier got in as an injury replacement. In this women's basketball episode of the podcast, we discuss the Husky All-Stars, some big wins on the recruiting trail, and Howard Megdal interviews New York Liberty head coach to discuss the success of Charles and Nurse and Bria Hartley, who has carved out a nice role for herself. The Liberty play their home games in Westchester, not too far from Connecticut in case any hardcore fans want to see a few former Huskies in action. Enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices.
