The themes were familiar between Kelly McCrimmon and Bruce Cassidy on opening day of VGK training camp. McCrimmon said he's glad the Golden Knights were able to keep most of their core together, save Reilly Smith, after winning the championship. And Cassidy feels the team is in a good position to win the Cup again. Our Chris Gawlik spent most of Thursday at City National. We hear from both McCrimmon and Cassidy on the goaltending situation. McCrimmon said Robin Lehner is still out due to hip surgery and out indefinitely on LTIR. Paul Cotter was among the players that stood out on opening day of training camp, lined up in the left flank along side Karlsson and Amadio. And, we have our WTF segment, What The Friday. As of press time on Sunday night, there was not a signed contract signed by Adin Hill and the Golden Knights. But, earlier in the day there were reports (confirmed by our Chris Gawlik) saying Hill was about to sign a 2-year contract with an average of $4.9 million per year. It would be more than double the salary Hill earned this season. But Hill led VGK to its first Stanley Cup by starting the final 14 games of the playoffs after starter Laurent Brossoit went down. Hill went 27-11 (including playoffs) this season. We wonder what will happen with free agent Brossoit and Robin Lehner, who had three surgeries and has legal issues pending. We also discuss Bill Foley's on 32 Thoughts podcast. And VGK is the first team to win the Stanley Cp in 28 years without a regular season awards finalist. The NHL Awards are tonight in Nashville. As the Stanley Cup has been passed around, we congratulate the Vegas Golden Knights on their victory! The Conn Smyth was awarded to Jonathan Marchessault, but as we discuss, there were a few candidates for the accolade. There is one name which may not get on the cup however, Robin Lehner. We talk about whether he should be there, how it could happen, etc. William Karlsson had a celly to remember during the Victory Party at Toshiba Park, one which had to be controlled by Caylee Allard, which she did admirably! Jesper Bratt re-signed with the Devils, who also traded Damon Severson to the Blue Jackets. If Matthews were to be extended, what would the impact be to the Leafs. O.E.L. has been bought out by the Canucks, where are some potential landing spots? We identify 3. Washington Hockey Now identified 4 centers the Caps should check out. We break the list down. Finally, John LeClair has been brought in by the Flyers as Special Advisor to Hockey Operations. Getting the band back together they are in Philly, with Briere, Jones and now LeClair. Lots to talk about, so let us know and Enjoy the Show!
The Stanley Cup Finals are finally set, and it's the Florida Panthers taking on the Vegas Golden Knights for the Greatest Trophy in all of Professional Sports, the Stanley Cup. Both of these teams had very different roads to the Finals throughout the Playoffs. The Panthers were written off very early, facing the Presidents Trophy-winning Boston Bruins. They went down 3-1 in the series before coming all the way back to win the series in Game 7. They took all that momentum and ran through the rest of the East Bracket, eliminating the Toronto Maple Leafs (4-1) and the Carolina Hurricanes (4-0). Matthew Tkachuk has put this team on his back and carried them through the Playoffs. He is second in the Playoffs in Points with 21 and tied for third in Goals with 9. Tkachuk also had three of the four Game Winning Goals in the Eastern Conference Finals in Games 1, 2, and 4 to seal the deal. The Panthers had a tough road and have made it count all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1996. The Vegas Golden Knights will represent the Western Conference. Their road wasn't as tough as the Panthers, but is there really an easy road in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? The Knights' path had them having to beat the Winnipeg Jets (4-1), Edmonton Oilers (4-2), and the Dallas Stars (4-2). Now, people had a lot of concerns with the Goaltending situation in Vegas and how far not having Robin Lehner would take them. They sure answered those concerns mightily all season long with strong play in net and in front, especially in the Playoffs. They were able to beat the Jets easily, shut down the powerhouse that is the Oilers and send the Stars packing. The team in front proved that whoever is in net doesn't matter because they are playing with a purpose and are looking to bring home the Cup for the first time in franchise history. This Vegas team is also the healthiest they have been since getting to the Finals in 2018 against the Washington Capitals. Looking back on the Conference Finals, what went wrong for the Stars and the Hurricanes? Vegas and Dallas went at it in 2020 for a chance to head to the Cup Finals. You know it was fresh in many players' minds on the Knights roster, and they were definitely looking for redemption. Vegas' veteran leadership kept this team in control and composed all season long. For the Hurricanes, it was just a matter of not getting bounces. It's been a challenging road for them in the East Finals, going 0-12 in their last three trips there. The Hurricanes were in every contest, and all finished in one-goal games. It was a hard-fought series for both Eastern Conference teams. Only the Panthers got all the bounces throughout the series. Will the bounces continue for the Florida Panthers as they prepare to face off against the Vegas Golden Knights for Lord Stanley's Cup?

The Golden Knights are hoping to get a win over rival Los Angeles tonight at the Fortress to bolster their chances of winning the Pacific Division, while maintaining their lead in the Western Conference for home ice advantage in the playoffs. The Golden Knights control their own destiny. VGK will enter the night with a one point lead over surging Edmonton in the division race. The Golden Knights also have a game in hand. These teams have been evenly matched since the Golden Knights entered the league. The Kings hold a 14-13-1 series lead. VGK has only four games remaining in the regular season. Former Kings goalie Jonathan Quick was traded to Las Vegas, via Columbus during the trade deadline period. He left on a bitter note. Although Quick is not expected to play tonight, he is probably involved in the game plan. We also talk about embattled VGK goalie Robin Lehner, who was charged with fraud in court documents. Will we ever see Lehner suiting up for VGK again? FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. First online real money wager only. Bonus issued as nonwithdrawable free bets that expires in 14 days. The lead investigator takes Andrea Canning inside the investigation of the murder of world-renowned snake breeder Ben Renick, who was found shot to death in his snake facility.
The Philadelphia Flyers are entering a new era as Chuck Fletcher has been fired. A majority of the fanbase has been asking for this since last season. Chuck Fletcher has made a number of bad moves to the roster in the last few years that never panned out in making this Flyers team any better or more competitive. Daniel Briere has been named Interim GM in Fletcher's wake. Now Danny has a big mess to clean up; can he bring this organization back to glory? The Flyers will welcome the Pacific Division leaders, Vegas Golden Knights, to the Wells Fargo Center. The Knights sit at 41-20-6 in the Pacific Division. They had some big questions heading into this season with their goalie Robin Lehner not playing at all. Logan Thompson filled in nicely before his injury, and Vegas was forced to go out and acquire Jonathan Quick at the Trade Deadline. Jack Eichel also carried a question mark as he was not very effective after returning from his neck injury. He is having a rebound year, posting 50 points this season. The big question is can they overcome not having Mark Stone in the lineup?

This week, Vogue, Dayvid and Sonja look at a wild week of news: First up, journalist Jeff German's murder investigation is back in the news, because his former employer, the Review-Journal, is locked in a battle with the LVMPD over German's cellphone. So: Is a deceased journalist's cellphone still protected under Nevada's shield laws? And what happens now? Next, we cover the wild tale of Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner's bankruptcy, and the murdered owner of an exotic reptile breeding business that Lehner invested in. Welcome back to THE Sports Law Podcast! We keep you up to date on everything at the intersection of sports and the law! In this episode, Dan Lust is joined by Evan Mattel and Matt Tympanick to discuss breaking issues in the world of Sports Law. Jeff Molina is a UFC fighter who was suspended due to involvement with a betting scandal created by a former UFC coach, James Krause. (8:06) Providing an update to the story, the UFC officially suspended Molina after completing the investigation into the betting scheme led by Krause. The betting scheme came to light because it seemed that Krause, as a coach in the UFC, used inside information to recommend bets. Jaden Rashada's NIL deal in Florida. (11:47) Jaden Reshada is one of the top high school quarterbacks in the country. There were reports that he was trying to decide between the University of Miami and the University of Florida. Rashada chose Florida following a NIL contract that was signed with the University of Florida collective. On December 7th, the CEO of the collective sent a termination letter regarding the contract. The NIL deal reportedly changed from eight figures to seven figures. Rusty Hardin is being sued for legal malpractice in relation to his representation of a sports agent Ben Dogra. (21:03) Dogra previously worked at CAA and upon leaving the company sued for unearned wages. Dogra retained Hardin at a fee of $1.575 million. It later came to light that Hardin's firm stipulated that the damages amounted to $2,756,503. Dogra is now coming at Hardin alleging that the law firm committed malpractice. The Las Vegas Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner has filed for bankruptcy following his purchase of an exotic snake farm for $1.2 million. (30:03) These snakes were purchased from a world-renowned snake breeder, Ben Renick, with the agreement to be broken into installment payments. Now the goalie is in hot water as he claims the snakes are breeding uncontrollably and he cannot afford the rest of the payments owed to the Renick estate. Kliff Kingsbury has been let go as the Arizona Cardinal's head coach after an abysmal 4-13 record. This comes as the Cardinals gave Kingsbury a 6-year extension through 2027. (35:40) Following this firing stories emerged that Kingsbury allegedly purchased a one-way ticket to Thailand. However, the contract contains a clause that states Kingsbury is not entitled to payments if he fails to attempt to secure other employment. Odell Beckham, Jr. was recently captured on video during a flight after flight attendants informed OBJ that he needed to put on his seatbelt before takeoff. (51:13) OBJ's refusal to do so led to the passengers to be de-planed and caused a significant delay in the flight. While the stories highlight unruliness, the actions did not lead to any sort of criminal charges. *** Have a topic you want to write about? ANYONE and EVERYONE can publish for ConductDetrimental.com. We thought Adin Hill would be pushing Logan Thompson for the top goalie spot in the preseason, but that has not been the case. Thompson is the clear-cut starter, and it's not even close. Hill continues to struggle and gave up 7 goals against his former team, San Jose on Friday night. He has not looked sharp in net. Michael Hutchinson, who we thought was vying for the backup role, was put on waivers. Laurent Brossoit is still out and hasn't appeared in camp and Robin Lehner is out for the season. Goaltending is the top concern in camp. We also talk about the latest round of cuts and our evaluation of the team through four preseason games. Learn more about your ad choices. To get you set for the start of the NHL season, I am doing a special Pacific Division series preview for our flagship podcast: Oilersnation Radio. New episodes of the pod usually drop every Friday but as a special bonus, I'll be interviewing a reporter from every other Pacific Division team and getting the lowdown on how the Oiler's divisional rivals are looking heading into training camps. In episode one, I was joined by Ken Boehlke of Sin Bin Vegas to discuss the wild offseason that the Vegas Golden Knights just went through. Max Pacioretty and Evgeni Dadonov are out the door, they made a coaching change, plus they'll be without Robin Lehner for the entire season. They lost some key pieces and really didn't add all that much. With all that in mind, Ken laid out the path to success for the Golden Knights."I think the plan is mostly let's get healthy and let's get 82 games out of Mark Stone and have Jack Eichel for 82 games, and get 82 games out of William Karlsson, none of which happened a year ago. I think that's kind of step one. But then two more answer your question. I think they're hoping for more out of Nick Roy and or Brett Howden."Having a full season of Jack Eichel will be huge, but the Golden Knights are far from a lock to make the postseason, which Ken outlined in our chat. Unlike the Central, the NHL's Pacific Division poses much more intrigue and fantasy value heading into the 2022-23 season. On Wednesday's episode of the Locked On Fantasy Hockey Podcast, Flip and Steele dive into the Pacific Division rankings, predictions, and preview for the upcoming year. The San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken and Anaheim Ducks make up the bottom-three of this division, but all three clubs still pose some spicy fantasy value, especially in the young stars of Jamie Drysdale, Matthew Beniers, and Timo Meier. After that, the Vegas Golden Knights should slot into the fifth seed in the Pacific after being dealt the blow of losing number one goalie Robin Lehner for the entire season. While they still have some superstar pieces in Mark Stone and Jack Eichel, their trio of goaltenders (Laurent Brossoit, Logan Thompson, and Michael Hutchinson) leaves so much to be desired. Where the quality is, both for fantasy and overall standing, in the Pacific Division is with the Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings, and Edmonton Oilers. Will Jonathan Huberdeau's addition be enough to salvage a wild offseason for the Flames? Can Jack Campbell be the No. 1 netminder the Oilers have been searching for? Do the L.A. Kings have enough talent to make a run? Find out on today's episode. Thanks for making Locked On Fantasy Hockey your 1st listen, every day. Locked On Predators - Daily Podcast On The Nashville Predators
The Nashville Predators have a plethora of goaltenders after picking up Kevin Lankinen from the Chicago Blackhawks this offseason and parting ways with their ECHL Florida Everblades team. With Juuse Saros as the clear starting net minder, what do the Preds do with Lankinen, Connor Ingram, Devin Cooley, and Yaroslav Askarov? On today's Locked On Predators Nick and Ann take a look at a potential deal between the Preds and the Vegas Golden Knights. Last week, the Golden Knights announced that starting goaltender Robin Lehner would miss the 2022-2023 season with a hip injury. Nick and Ann break down why the Preds and the Golden Knights should talk, and why the obvious - but potentially unpopular - offer might be Connor Ingram. We debate the value of a trade versus a draft pick in return. Are the Preds looking to do a "now" move or would they be satisfied with a "not yet" value down the road as they move a goaltender? Plus we talk World Juniors. While Predators fans may enjoy their first look at recent draftee Joakim Kemell play at game speed, there is a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the tournament this year. We discuss why we think the World Juniors isn't generating quite as much buzz in the hockey world and who could be most affected by that. BetOnline Today's Episode is brought to you by BetOnline.
