This one was a lot of fun! We had Josh Patten and Chad Allen on and there is a ton of incomplete thoughts and subjects. We go pretty hard into food when our stomachs start growling and this episode goes in many different directions.
On this episode of A Good Cry, Michael talks with Josh Patten. They discuss Josh's dad, shitty atheists, and the very famous gossip pod, Dakota Dish. In our final six episodes of The Need to Fail, I will be checking back in with my original guests from seven years ago. Next up: Josh Patten (SNL) who talks about how things have changed over his eight seasons at SNL. We talk about craft related setbacks & trying to get better at his job, how it took time and experience to look past his analytical approach, not getting any jokes on an episode where his mother came to watch, and balancing the buckets of life. Josh Patten (SNL) and Mike Scollins (Late Night with Seth Meyers) saunter in to the New York studio for a very special episode about Josh's habit of reading and watching re-caps of zeitgeisty TV shows so that he can be part of a cultural conversation without actually watching the show. Mike is infuriated by this. Later, the three men discuss how to properly pee: an analysis in three parts. This month's episode is sponsored by Quip. Saturday Night Live writer and overall hilarious guy Josh Patten joins Rob and Dave to recap the best moments of the NCAA Tournament, as well as figure out if we truly are in "The Philadelphaissance". Your move next, Phillies and Flyers and whatever Philly's Arena Football League team is. The gents then turn their attention to the NBA playoffs: can the Rockets unseat the Warriors? Can anyone in the East finally beat LeBron? And why did Josh grow up hating arguably the most popular athlete of his generation? Look, it's just guys talking hoops and doing bits. On today's show, I talk to SNL Weekend Update writer Josh Patten. Originally living in Washington DC to work on political campaigns, Josh took an improv class in 2006 and fell in love with performing. After moving to New York, he began taking classes at UCB and eventually became one of the featured performers at the theatre. In addition to improv, Josh is one of the best joke writers around, and a few years ago was hired to write for Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live.Check out the website for Beginnings, subscribe on iTunes, follow me on Twitter!

Holy mackerel! This may very well be our most fun live show yet! On January 8th, we were joined by Erika Forster and Annie Hart from one of our favorite bands Au Revoir Simone, one of our favorite performers Josh Patten (performer at UCB and a writer on SNL Weekend Update), and one of our favorite artists Molly Crabapple (the founder of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School). We laughed, we loved, we heard about their earliest creative memories. And even did a little demo work for a PR firm that paid us big buck$ to poll our audience! Subscribe on iTunes and follow Andy and Mark on Twitter! See us live in February at UCB East! (probably!)
