The quote is from Mordecai Evans who is the Lead Advisor for Business Acquisition Advisors, LLC located in Augusta, Georgia. Mordecai went to work for a pharmaceutical company after graduating from Clemson. His passion for entrepreneurship and sales led him to becoming a broker with a business brokerage firm. Recently, Mordecai formed his own merger and acquisition firm, Business Acquisition Advisors. Rick asked Mordecai to do a Zoom interview about his experiences with the small to medium size business market. What follows is a summary of that conversation. Rick began by asking about what the broker's response should be to a business owner asking about what is necessary to sell a business. Mordecai answered that after looking at the financial statements and the marketplace, he takes the buyer's perspective and conducts a “pre-due-diligence investigation.” Also, he conducts a conversation with the seller about price expectations. For the highest price possible there may be some things that need to be changed, which might take one to two years. There is always the option to take the business to market without a price to better understand what the market price might be. Rick observed that the diligence investigation Mordecai conducts is similar to what he recommends for the business owner with the strategy of Prior Diligence explained at his substack (rickriebesell.substack.com). Often, the reason owners fail with the strategy is that they fail to prioritize important tasks of planning and taking action while paying attention only to urgent tasks. Mordecai mentioned that he had a friend who said: “The only reason to start a business is to sell a business.” The point being that a business owner should run the business like a business not a job. “Nobody wants to buy a job.” Business owners are often well advised to counsel with a business broker, understand the market for their business, and make the changes over time to obtain the highest price for their business. Rick responded that where the owners of a business have received advice from a broker that to get the highest price there were some things to work on, that work might take as much as three years. The issue arises of an owner who might not make it to the end of three years for health or other reasons. In this case, the owners should have an owner agreement among them to provide a value, among other things, to a withdrawing owner. Mordecai provided some examples of where business sales were adversely affected by the absence of an owner agreement. Mordecai cited a recent video he had done on identifying a business broker early in the sales process to obtain advice about what buyers are looking for. Rick asked about the relationships of the professionals, such as lawyers, accountants, and appraisers, with business brokers. Mordecai pointed out that business brokers, like consultants, can talk directly to all the parties unlike the professionals who have client relationships involving advocacy and confidentiality constraints. Rick and Mordecai discussed the difference between selling to an insider, such as an employee or other owner, and selling to a outside buyer without prior experience in the business. An insider will not pay as high a price as an outside buyer, because the insider already possesses the “good will” knowledge that an outside buyer will pay for. Notwithstanding an appraised value for a minority interest, that type of valuation is not available in the marketplace because there is no market demand for a minority business interest. For those looking for a business broker relationship, Mordecai's contact information is as follows: Mordecai L. Evans, Lead Advisors Business Acquisition Advisors, LLC mevans@baallc.biz Office: 706-828-1483 Mobile: 706-631-2466 The video and podcast of the complete conversation is available on https://businessconcern.net.

He has maintained this every year since He is a Pittsburgh native, and enjoys spending time and traveling with his daughter, Aurora (who is almost 5), and his girlfriend (Beth). While she has clients who are in all different cycles of life, she gets an extra boost collaborating with women who are going through a transition and are making life-altering financial decisions. This could be due to divorce, becoming a widow, selling their business, or being able to retire from their corporate executive career. What excites Nicole about what she gets to do each day? Helping women make smart and thoughtful decisions as they navigate an emotionally stressful time. Clients see her as a teacher, advocate, and partner. Having gone through a divorce herself and leaving a 10-year career with a bank to start my own financial planning practice, Nicole understands the stress of being 100% responsible for your financial security. That is why she invests extra time with her clients and their other professionals such as their attorney and CPA to create a plan which takes them from a place of fear and uncertainty to one of clarity and confidence.  Whether it is a proposed divorce settlement, settling an estate or navigating deferred compensation plans and exercising employer stock plans on your way to retirement; her clients are relieved, that together, we create a forward-looking financial plan so they can see what the future may mean for them and their family. Since I walked by their side and never judged, during a very emotional time during which is it common to become flooded and unable to make decisions, they look to me as their ongoing partner to successfully manage their wealth. The inflation wave that crested at a 40-year high last year and remains elevated has eroded US households' sense of financial security, the Federal Reserve reported.  In an annual survey showing the corrosive effects of inflation on Americans' economic confidence, many complained they had reduced their savings to make ends meet, felt less secure about retirement, and had delayed purchases or swapped into cheaper products as they shopped.  The Fed said the percentage of respondents who said they were doing “at least OK financially” in 2022 tumbled by 5 percentage points — the most since the survey was launched a decade ago — to 73%.  It had stood at a record high the year before.  The share of those saying they were worse off shot up 15 points to 35%, the highest level by far since the Fed first started asking that question in 2014. The last eight months have been a pretty tough time for growth investors, and perhaps the best example of this is the performance of the Ark Invest fund, which is currently underperforming Berkshire Hathaway over pretty much every timeframe. In his conversation with Luke, Adam draws out five key lessons from the last seventy years of Berkshire's history that any growth investor can apply to improve their investment returns. In the discussion, Adam discusses why simple businesses can often make the best investments; the importance of focusing on the right variables, and tracking the business performance rather than the stock price. What does ‘tenderness' have to do with our political life? In his encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis writes, ‘Politics too must make room for a tender love of others. What is tenderness? It is love that draws near and becomes real. A movement that starts from our heart and reaches the eyes, the ears and the hands...Tenderness is the path of choice for the strongest, most courageous men and women.'Pope Francis challenges us to ask: what if tenderness was viewed as a strength in our political life, rather than a weakness? In this episode, Bobbie Gaunt, Lead Advisor for Inclusion & Participation at Interfaith Action, gives a reflection on this topic followed by group discussion. In this episode of Pharmacy View Podcast, host Scott Carpenter, EVBC is joined by Kev Ryan, Lead Advisor at pharmacy.forsale, a platform that facilitates the listing and selling of pharmacies globally, without any involvement of brokers and payments of commissions. The platform acts for buyers who can connect with sellers in a private and off-market fashion via its member-only marketplace. Kev is a tax accountant by trade and over his career, he has worked all across Australia. Talking about the platform, he talks of how he thought of it as being an interesting space after having interacted with his accounting friends with predominantly Pharmacy clients and after having watched Pharmacy transactions from afar. He adds that he is new to the industry and seeing it with fresh eyes made him realise the need for a marketplace that would cater to both sellers and buyers without having to depend on a broker. For that reason, his goal was to build an industry specific technology platform to help people transact. He calls it a tool to engage the buy side clients because the sell side is already well represented in the market. Kev emphasises that the key target audience are the young Pharmacists who otherwise don't have access to the deal flow. The baton needs to be passed from the older and wiser Pharmacists to the younger ones, he believes, as that would help community Pharmacies survive in the future while the threat of bigger groups monopolizing the industry loom large. That doesn't take away from the fact that the platform is meant for anyone who is genuinely interested in making a deal.

Want to optimize your money and maximize your wealth and income for life, and curious about how we can help?  Been listening for a while and want to learn more about our company and what we can do for you? Today, we're taking you behind the scenes of The Money Advantage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS5o1gL_vzE So, if you want to get to know us, what we do, and why we do this work … tune in below! Table of contents“Why” The Money AdvantageRachel Marshall Bruce WehnerWhat is The Money Advantage Philosophy? Our 9-Step Signature ProcessFoundationProtectionIncreaseFinance is a Team SportBook A Strategy Call “Why” The Money Advantage Today, we're sharing more about who we are and why we do what we do. First and foremost, the Money Advantage exists to help wealth creators build financial freedom. There are three key components to this wealth building: Cashflow StrategiesPrivatized BankingAlternative investments We're your team of financial architects, and our goal is to help you get into a position where you never run out of money. What we so often see is people who make a lot of money, yet aren't being as efficient as possible. This can create a lot of financial stress. Money is emotional, and that causes people to hold their financial state close to their chest. Yet by not talking about money, we do ourselves a disservice. So we also look for ways to help people improve their money mindset.  Rachel Marshall  Rachel Marshall is the co-host of The Money Advantage Podcast, co-founder of The Money Advantage, and Chief Financial Educator. The education that she provides, through podcasts and articles and videos, helps you understand your financial life so you can choose a way forward. Her role is to look for any way possible to help you understand how to keep control of your financial life.  Rachel has been a lifelong teacher—helping others learn the concepts she was learning herself. She looks most forward to seeing that flash of inspiration and awareness when someone understands something they didn't know before.  Nine years ago, Rachel went into this business with her husband, Lucas. It stemmed from a desire to build their own financial freedom. And what they realized was missing, at the time, was liquidity. After recognizing the need of wealth creators to maximize cash flow and have access to capital, they recognized the tremendous value of Privatized Banking and began their own policy. Then, a near-death experience truly opened her eyes to the importance of the death benefit and helping others build the greatest legacy possible. Bruce Wehner Bruce Wehner is the Chief Cash Flow Strategist & Lead Advisor at The Money Advantage. Growing up in the 60s' and 70s opened Bruce's eyes to the financial struggles of business owners like his father. After Nixon removed the gold standard, massive inflation made it difficult for businesses to stay afloat, and interest rates were continuing to spike year after year. This got him thinking about personal finance, and how businesses worked.  He then began a teaching career of 17 years, in which he experimented with entrepreneurial pursuits. It was at this time that he became involved in the insurance business and real estate. Eventually, he landed in St. Louis, where he remains today, and works with e3 Consultants Group and The Money Advantage. Bruce is also a certified Nelson Nash practitioner, which means he focuses first on guarantees. Wealth building is first about the money you protect, not hitting a home run. So he helps people create financial teams and protect more of their wealth through guarantees.  What is The Money Advantage Philosophy? The financial status quo is to build the biggest pile of money possible and then live off of that money in the future. What happens too often with this strategy, is that the money is in the control of everyone else--investment managers, banks, and mortgage companies.

To succeed in the mortgage industry, we can’t rely on an optimistic outlook alone. The harsh reality is most mortgage pros are doomed to fail, so if we want to stay in business, we have to be prepared to fight for our spot.  There are critical decisions we need to make and actions we need to take to avoid ending up as another statistic. From how we deal with Realtors to how we set up our operations, if we do the right things, success will surely follow.  What are the obstacles standing in our way? Is it possible to avoid landmines altogether? How can we set ourselves apart from our rivals and show real estate professionals we’re not only worthy of their business, but the obvious choice?  In this episode, Director of Enrolments at Mortgage Marketing Coach, Lane Boland shares how to navigate the path to success.   If you’re not adequately prepared to thrive in the face of obstacles, you’ll be another statistic. Don’t show up to the gunfight naked and unarmed. -Doren Aldana   Takeaways    How to set ourselves up for success from day one: Why potter around trying to reinvent the wheel when someone has already done it before us? We wouldn’t expect a meal to turn out perfectly without using a recipe, so why apply that logic to our business?      Why we need to change the way we approach Realtors: To get through to top producers, we have to rethink our dealings with them. Stop thinking of what they can do for us, the real question is, what can we do for them?      How to gain the upper hand with top agents: When we wait to be interviewed by real estate professionals, we’re giving them all the control. How can we flip the script and put ourselves in the power position?  Guest Bio-   Lane Boland is the Director of Enrolment at Mortgage Marketing Coach and the Lead Advisor of Task Force Formula. He is passionate about making an impact on others’ lives, and his current mission is to get at least 100 self-employed contractors to take their businesses from 5 figures to 6 in the space of 8 weeks.   In our value accelerator, leadership is last.  That, to a lot of people, probably wouldn’t make sense, but we put it last for a reason. You will have been at whatever speed you were traveling when we started doing value acceleration. By the time you’re through sprint six, which is financial acceleration, you’re going to be moving at about 100 miles an hour much faster than you were. Your organization and your practices are going to look completely different. You’re a value-creating machine by the time you’ve gotten through those. Let Sean Hutchinson of SVA Value Accelerators and Joe Slatter, the Lead Advisor of Decision Dynamics and the SVA Leadership Accelerator, use leadership acceleration to take you from 100 miles an hour to 200 miles an hour as they talk about the path to higher valuation. — Watch the episode: Listen to the podcast: Leadership Described: Creating The Path To Higher Valuation with CEO/Partner Sean Hutchinson of SVA Value Accelerators and Joe Slatter Creating The Path To Higher Valuation with CEO/Partner Sean Hutchinson and Joe Slatter In our value accelerator, leadership is last. You will have begun with decision dynamics, making better decisions faster and figuring out what matters. You’re going to figure out how to reduce risk and keep your business less risky. You’re going to have a clear vision of your company of the future and the tools that you can use to reach your objectives. We’re going to talk about financial acceleration, productivity, sales, and marketing, then we come to leadership. Why did we put it last? That to a lot of people probably wouldn’t make sense, but we put it last for a reason. You will have been at whatever speed you were traveling when we started doing value acceleration. By the time you’re through sprint six, which is financial acceleration, you’re going to be moving at about 100 miles an hour much faster than you were and your organization and your practices are going to look completely different. You’re a value-creating machine by the time you’ve gotten through those. We’re going to use leadership acceleration to take you from 100 miles an hour to 200 miles an hour. You, as an organization, are going to be able to bear that kind of acceleration. You will not break. We are doing a deep dive continuation with Sean Hutchinson of Decision Dynamics (http://www.decisiondynamics.se/en) and the SVA Leadership Accelerator. We are going to dig into leadership acceleration. Leadership acceleration, making leadership go faster. As Sean said, at this point, your organization has been through a transformation already. There’s a lot of good content, technique, process, and ways that you’re going to be thinking and operating in much more effective ways. I’m the business owner and I’ve got to make sense of all this and it’s still just me. The point of the transition readiness and all of this is to allow owner independence. We’ve got to get somehow figure out how to get that leadership transferred from the owner to the rest of the organization. At that point, there will have been leaders emerging. Every single one of these sprints results in leaders arriving and showing up. They’re not showing up from outside of your organization, they’re showing up from inside of your organization, which is a neat thing to watch. I suspect the owner probably knows who some of those folks are likely going to be already. We’ve got to accelerate that process. We’re going to create a very clear focus on empowering and giving the freedom and the authority to that new leadership team. There’s an aspect of design to this. Up until this point, we’ve been focused on a lot of fundamentals and specific functional areas and specific content areas. This is about putting all of that into practice. Now we are...
