The sixth annual event, Manor Fest 6 begins this Thursday and runs over the next two weeks, running Thursday to Saturday, May 23 to May 25, and then May 30 to June 1. Over those six days, 60 bands will play in 20 venues in six different areas/neighborhoods of Kansas City. A massive tip of the hat to Shaun Crowley and his team and volunteers at Manor Records for pulling this off.We'll play music from some of our favorite acts on the lineup, as well as some acts that we know nothing about. We'll sneak in some of our favorite songs from 2023 and some possible contenders for favorite songs of 2024 as well. Justin and Bec return this week to sit down with the shooting script for Baz Luhrmann's Elvis biopic, now confirmed for 8 Oscar noms, to bring to light some of the many differences big and small between what was written and what made it into the final film. From full deleted scenes we've known about ("In The Ghetto") to ones we didn't (DID Colonel Parker kill someone?) to many notable minor dialogue tweaks, character beats and musical cues altered, improved or removed in the final cut.
